The Bradford Canal was opened in 1774 running from Shipley to Bradford. There were 10 locks along the route. A single lock at Windhill, A 2-rise at Pricking Mill. 3-rise at Crag End, 2-rise at Oliver’s and a 2-rise at Spink Well.
Despite commercial success the canal suffered from severe pollution and was eventually closed in 1922.
[Minor correction: The route is 5.6Km and not 4.6Km as mentioned]
