Germans are pretty good too, but yea I do like the way they teach it and there so much diverse welding processes used in the US weather it big machinery CAT style stuff, Naval ship yards, pipe, chemical, oil & gas fabrication etc. So many options widely used. I'm new to welding just learning atm, I have a question about the mig angle uphill for internal corners, should I be trying to pointing my torch down on all uphill welds? Thanks.

@@deepwinter77 I'm a month late but no, uphill mig is much stronger while angled straight in or slightly up, since the heat is pushing the puddle and not pulling it. Turn down voltage and amperage a bit from standard settings for your material and electrode, and weave side to side

Bob, the only welder on RU-vid that can teach you how to backfeed and walk the cup. I'm a Pipe Welder and a CWI, I watched many welders on YT showing you how to weld and cringed because a lot of what you see, can only done with perfect fit up or in a Fab Shop environment, but when your in a bind, welding on a scaffold or a lift and you gotta make X-Ray quality welds, all that NASCAR/Jesse James Fab Shop welding goes out the fucking window.
@bobmoffatt4133
@bobmoffatt4133 7 лет назад
Yes sir, I agree. As a pipe welder and CWI, I did all my scaffolding, man lift, in the racks welding to X-ray quality and loved it. I miss field work and still get called out occasionally. Field fits are always a challenge as well as the elements.

Not a super pipe welder or anything like that but one thing for sure, 90% of most welding is not set up on a bench all pretty. It’s more like welding left handed when you’re right, standing on your head occasionally, reaching way out with one hand, down a hole, or probably the very worst one trying to weld something the right way while people that don’t know squat are arguing with you that you’re doing it wrong

My first job was a welder helper for a company that run Gas - Main and I progressed to be a certified gas line welder with ''stick'' that was all that was allowed then I am told they now allow you to mig weld...… I moved on to industrial maintenance where I have welded off and on over the past 30 plus years with tig/stick/ mostly mig. I think of myself as a better than decent welder yet time and again as I watch you I am impressed with your knowledge and your ability to demonstrate and explain your knowledge to others …… I have even borrowed a few tips from you here and there that has improved my own welding and I cant say that about most welding videos on you-tube sigh many are clowns that should not be showing anything I Highly Recommend People Watch U to learn and improve in the craft of welding and ignore what many others online have to say

Bob, I don't recall having ever seen another "Human welder" your equal regarding skill, consistency and perfection! What you're able to do free-handed I've only seen equaled by "automated welding" system's, the type that likely sell for $250.000 plus per station and are found at companies like G.M. and Lockheed-Martin. Sir, the skill set you've demonstrated in this video alone, in my humble opinion, anyway, is deserving of the title "Grand-Master Welder". I for one salute you!

Sir, let me first say, I'd let you weld for me any day!! Second, I am by no means a professional, but i can lay down a pretty nice bead. ARC, MIG, Oxygen Acetylene, never did Tig. Never had no schooling, dad taught us in the garage. Welding since at least age 8 and I am 48. Every video I watch I pick something up. I would have liked to see that top pass buffed out. Dont leave us hanging from now on. Lol. Even old dogs can learn new tricks. Thanks for the videos, little bit of explanation and then watching the video makes what you said make sense. Half moon, lazy J, circles. At a young age I can remember someone saying not to weld over weld because it weakens it. Well, after watching your videos and a bunch of pipeline welders, I have been convinced a couple years ago to just stack single beads instead of try to do everything in one major pass. Biggest thing I learned is, I think I have my settings set to hot. Dunno, but I know its burnt In . Lol
