I continue exploring the streets of Peña Blanca, Honduras. I try "chancho" mangoes, enter the police station, meet Miss Santa Cruz, visit the shops, bakeries, shoe stores, tailor shops, a souvenir shop where they give me personalized gifts, the river to learn how to fish, a school, a restaurant with the juiciest chicken I have ever had in Honduras, a vocational technical school and several cafes.
At the end of the afternoon, my friends from the city take me to see Pan American Health Service, a nonprofit organization that provides medical services to thousands of people in the sector. The organization was founded by Doctor Stephen Youngberg in 1960. The doctor's children and now granddaughters continue on with the great humanitarian work of PAHS. The organization also runs a children's home and has a large marzipan farm.
