I am immensely enjoying the walk through the sloping neighborhoods of your Nagasaki! I may be unable to visit Japan in person, but your tour makes me feel like I am there in Nagasaki. I find it more appealing to significant places like Tokyo or Osaka. Japan is a beautiful country, and Nagasaki is a lovely place to live, enjoy, and admire. I☺️🙏

Thank you again for showing us how beautiful Nagasaki is. Because of your videos I now understand why my first Japanese teacher, who lived in Tokyo and Nagasaki, really preferred your city. It's so different from the Netherlands where it's all very flat. Seeing the hills in the background amazes me.

Great video as usual, mate! I felt it was fitting that you actually ended the video in my old neighbourhood - I could recognise the Fukuda Bakery at the 23:03 mark, as well as the 18-Shinwa sign at the junction a little further ahead. In fact, if you were to turn right at that junction, my old apartment is in that area. About graveyards… I’ll be honest - I don’t exactly have a good relationship with graveyards in general, but that’s probably due to the fact that I have stayed at or lived near haunted places while growing up in Singapore. I spent most of my childhood in a neighbourhood that was close to a massacre site, and during my time in the Singapore Armed Forces, I stayed in not just one, but two haunted bases. At least in Japan, though, the family graveyards feel more like a place to reflect on life and to basically let your ancestors know that you’re doing okay. They still give me a bit of the creeps, personally, but I can at least acknowledge those who are resting there, and briskly walk on through.

I love Nagasaki … the cute little backstreet alleys … so up close and personal … find the little cemeteries where the local community bury their deceased loved ones so adorable .. so personal and unique .. Nagasaki and its very unique landscape is definitely worth a visit or alternatively definitely worth thinking about dwelling there … love it , love it , love it 🙏🏻

@life_in_nagasaki

@@Salma--s Hi! Thank you for your question. The reason I moved to Nagasaki City is because I was fascinated by Nagasaki's history and culture, particularly its history of international exchange and the context of multicultural coexistence. When I was a university student, I visited Nagasaki as part of a club activity. During that visit, I studied Nagasaki's history and culture, and since then, I have become a huge fan of Nagasaki. I have always wanted to live in Nagasaki someday and deeply learn about the history and cultural context of this place. When I reached my late twenties and started to feel exhausted from my life in Tokyo, I decided to move to Nagasaki. After moving to Nagasaki, I do feel the charm of its history and culture, but even more than that, I find everyday life very interesting, especially since I live in the sloping areas of Nagasaki. The daily life in these sloping areas is incredibly fascinating, and now I am enjoying my life here😆

Nagasaki will surely keep one fit. Such nice paths for walking. I am so impressed with how lovingly the Japanese care for their deceased loved ones burial areas. The harbor view was so relaxing.

A nice and very interesting walk as always! It really is a beautiful place! Thank you for all the sharing about Nagasaki's history and the culture of cheerfulness and caring there is around grave areas and the deceased. Graveyards in France, mostly Christian, are places of meditation and devotion surrounded by walls and always silent. It's not dark nor scary (it could be by night :D) but not really a joyfull place as we would never have fireworks (I found that really cool btw) or events like Shoro Nagashi.

Graves are a solemn area here in the USA. For most people now you go to pay respects however that tradition is diminishing. Ironically in the 1800s and early 1900s people would go have picnics in graveyards as they were often the most landscaped and quiet places around. Times have changed.

Beautiful. I like how they have benches by the vista, Suppose you need those when you get there:). I just wonder about what y ou said concerning graves. Is that somethong Japanese people generay feel(not being scared ) or Nagasaki trait. And would the houses on he slopes be cheaper than on the flat? I also saw a few parked cars as you were walking so there must be at least for some areas possible to drive down? Thank you. Was a great walk! Cheers!

Thank you for watching! Japanese people generally feel that graves are scary. For example, they don't like to live in a house that is located next to a graveyard. However, people in Nagasaki don't feel the same way. They aren't scared of graves and don't have negative feelings about them. Houses in sloping areas are cheaper than those on flat land. Some areas in sloping regions can be reached by car.

In Poland, graves are rather individual in nature everyone has their own opinion we have very different graves because their style has changed, but I see the ones in Nagasaki for the first time 😶 if in Poland they are tall, they have decorations and end with a cross 🤔 For example, I associate graves with the passing of time, but not in this dark context🫤
