Hi Gregg! Its pleasure to watch your video for me as I'm site engineer to! Currently I sending out my cv to england companies to get a work visa in UK. May be i can share my cv with you?

Hi Y P! Happy you enjoy the videos. I am not dealing with recruiting people, so there is no point in sending me a CV and my site is quiet at the moment. Try maybe LinkedIn as well and keep sending CVs to more companies. Good luck!

01. Why spliceing of rebar, instead of Coupler or welding ? 02. Is it still permisible by code to Construct kiker or column starter?
@SITENG
@SITENG 9 месяцев назад
Splice is cheaper and effective. Use couplers only when you can’t splice eg steel congestion. Welding is not the way really
@SITENG
@SITENG 9 месяцев назад
Kicker is a good construction practice and permissible. The problem is there are mistakes made so needs to be done correctly. I would say its really good for a liner wall - poured with the slab pour and having the joint that 100/150 above the slab
@TaponChakrabarti
@TaponChakrabarti 9 месяцев назад
@@SITENG , while, it has already warned, to minimize construction joints. Casting monolithicaly is good practice to get more durability from structure. Another problem is that, while you cast 100 or 125 or 150 mm kicker , the top face need to be rough, for further casting. Now when you use concrete breaker machine to make it rough, there are possibilities to breakdown full 100mm....or...125 mm..... as a whole. Another problem is, to maintain concrete mix design proportions can be difficult in kicker. N.B : It's better to use surveyor.

to check the verticality of the column with the EDM what program are you using , the COGO?
@SITENG

Hi Marian! I am checking it using ref. line and offset tells me everything (creating the ref line with no resection). If my EDM is set I use ref. line too, but in this case I am using the actual column line.

@sitengColumns steel laps are in the bottom of columns oops we are told it shouldn't be there.
@SITENG

Why? It's much easier for construction purpose and it's not bad really unless there are some special condition (seismic etc) where you want to laps typically near the 0 moment

Great to see your videos. Can you make videos of 1) fixing the kicker with a shear key inside. 2) providing supports for the kicker of the walls. 3) stopper of walls and slabs (construction joint) with the rebars passing through.

Hello, how come the formwork for the columns isn't supported on all four sides (~min 2:40)? Is it because of the connection of the horizontal bracing of the formwork? Is that something you would judge on site or was it pre-established in the design office? Thank you!

Hi Alice! Each push-pull leg holds the shutter in both directions. Shutter box is set on the kicker and is constructed to take the concrete pressure itself. Shuttering belongs to Temporary Works, needs a design and client approval.

Greg, Very good video of the structure of the column and the use of the kicker to fix the shutter to it. I think we all need to know how the concrete column and the wall is kept smooth during the concreting. Can you explain the mystery of 20mm of the steel into the slab. Are you saying that the last link of the column should be 20mm inside the slab above the column. Please explain. I see that the concreting was done at night with the flood light on. Can you concrete at night without any effect to the quality of the work. Brilliant video in all aspect and very educational for all viewer like me. You are a great cameraman on the building site. Superb.

Is there a maximum height that we can pour the concrete into a column or wall (vertical elements)? How can we assure that the poured concrete is not segregated at the bottom level?
@SITENG
@SITENG 3 года назад
Hi Hasitha! It's the pressure that limits the height, but you can pour really high elements. The concrete has to be placed correctly using a poker (concrete vibrator) which guarantees proper distribution of aggregate throughout the element.

Hello sir, Great series of videos i love them! A quick question, the liner walls with the anchors and a frame support... the wall is needed for the shoring ? To avoid any failure in the soil next to the excavation? Thank you and please keep it up!
@SITENG
@SITENG 2 года назад
Thank you Abdo! Liner wall is needed for permanent works - it's still secures exposed ground and resist ground water pressure (it's waterproof too). Piled wall would do the shoring job actually. What do you mean by failure in soil next to excavation?
@Mr.Engineer93
@Mr.Engineer93 2 года назад
@@SITENG oh understood i thought that the piled wall was not enough for the shoring! Thank you sir, i just meant that if this wall was needed to avoid failure due to weak shoring or to just provide a clean finishing 😀

Hi Greg. Just wondering how do you check the top level of the already cast column or wall? In particular if your station is set up at the same level where your column, wall is starting. I've seen a lot of times the formwork is actually quite higher than the top concrete level itself and the boys are using nails to mark the top of the concrete. I personally use laser level or just a normal tape measure, but you may have other more advanced approach ... thank you!
@SITENG
@SITENG 3 года назад
Hi Ivaylo Peev! I am checking the height-level of top of shutter and then tell the boys how much lower they have to pour to achieve the what we want, or doing a dipstick for them.

Very cool narration, thank you! The A-frame one-side forming is such a big cost to just get concrete against an existing vertical surface. I am sure you have reasons for not wanting to use shotcrete. What if there was a light slip form method for that?
@SITENG
@SITENG 3 года назад
Hi SpaceCrete! Thank you! Methodology is not up to me, especially on this project as my part is finished there. I know these guys actually using shotcrete on other projects so it might be the client's decision really.
@nobreighner
@nobreighner 3 года назад
@@SITENG Thank you Gregg! Yes I meant the job's decision makers. Not trying to advocate for shotcrete as it can have issues. It is just that one-sided forming is so inefficient and expensive, we are working on a very-rapid light slip-form method to use instead. Have gone vertical at up to a foot a minute.

The steel/reinforcement should be staggered at the top for lapping, which is not the case in the video showed! Or may be it's not clear in the video.

Hi Tadas! Waterproofing was not finished yet there, so before rebar I believe they installed the rest, but when I'll go through the drawings we will find out as there could be extra waterproofing in core area and rest actually might be without it.
