Also does anyone have recommendations for re siding a chimney on a two story home? I’ve rented the stand alone type of scaffolding system but again it takes a lot of time to set it up when working alone. And it’s not the type of thing that can be moved easily for working on all sides of that type of chimney.

Good question…these are quick and easy to move around to all of the sides of the house to get the Facias up and sheeting going. I will scaffold up on the decks (once they are built) to do the soffits and finished facia.

When u bevel ur facia your going to loose like an inch or more wether your using 2x4 2x6 or w.e. I would think that would look like shit nailing whatever ur gona wrap it in. Especially if it's pine.

@Paul Underwood I'm talking about the back of the facia, thats why you bevel it...takes 5 minutes...I fix alot of stuff that "40yr" framers did, so I wouldn't use that as bragging rights

@@drewp503 wasted time is wasted money.. same thing happens when u waste an burn up materials. I never have gaps in my plywood on the facia. Always plane right into the 2x4 or whatever they want and always has been sealed tight and always will be. I just did that to a three story 30k sq ft condo and all my plywood is nailed off perfect with no gaps so there is nothing ghetto about it.

Toe board is only required if persons are walking below, and the post does have holes to attach a toe board when required by OSHA standards.

@timothy chung I'm aware that one can do funny shit but that's not the point. I'd prefer to buy a stronger product. It's a work surface meaning it should hold men and materials. Cheap is for diy not builders.

It's near useless junk but probably 80% of home builders in wnc use it. Just because its white and in a roll does not make it tyvek.

Shut it crybaby prima donna! Only if the siding / brick fails first. They didnt start using house wrap until reletively recently in the home building recently. Houses from the early 1900s-1980s are still standing without issues. Roofing, caulking, proper brick mortar mix and sufficient overhangs are far more important. Fuck tyvek!
