Yea, I remember the day I knew sports cards had peeked. I started seeing daily news articles about how everyone was selling their cards for lots of money.

I feel like Walmart is just trying to enter this space because its one of the few they haven't gotten their hands into. Sure they sell the "from the factory" items but they've never been in the "collectables" game. Probably only recently decided there is enough of a profit margin to make it worth investing in/entering the collectables secondary market. Walmart is a for-profit organization and their job is create value for their shareholders by selling (or in this case proving a place for us to sell) anything and everything. They aren't going offer anything that doesn't at least project (and once its operating match) their target profit margin.

I feel like they're tackling the wrong end of the market here. They have such a wide network for distribution, providing premium product/exclusives to grow the hobby would be in their favor but they decided they wanted a taste of fees instead.

The people who sell without looking at potential fees. Majority of cards selling on PSA vault end at less than $100, meaning they are getting 16% fees, more than if they sold on eBay themselves.

Problem with Walmart is you still have to deal with bad sellers and I'm not impressed... eBay is still the best at dealing with problems.

Doubtful at best. Would be surprised if it is even remotely successful. In the end a ton of junk slabs will be offloaded to unsuspecting newbies over the course of a year or two and then vanish.
