There really should be a class action lawsuit for how they hold quite a bit of extra money and do so for an entire week. It has to be millions of dollars a day and clearly they are doing it to earn interest on our money. But if a gas station can update your total in 30 minutes or so then there’s no reason Walmart should be holding an extra $20-50 for for a week or more.
