Wait it's brown? I just ordered one and had no idea what it is, there was just a sale and I'm looking for the cheapest ink so I can learn to use a dip pen.
Do you know what kind of walnut the ink is made from? Our tree just dropped some nuts but they seem too small to bother trying to get the nut for eating and was wondering if I could make an ink or stain out of it
Yes, you can brew your own Walnut ink! I have a friend in Guelph that makes his own and Wyndham Art sells it. WikiHow has recipe here: www.wikihow.com/Make-Ink-from-Walnut-Shells. The old masters made ink this way. It is important to know that traditional/real walnut ink will darken to black with age. The Walnut Crystals in this video are actually made from Peat Moss which remains golden brown!
