“His mind never quit.” - Lillian Disney
When author Bob Thomas was gathering research for his biography of Walt Disney called Walt Disney: An American Original, he interviewed pretty much everybody Walt knew personally, including his wife Lillian Disney, in 1973. That is where these stories come from.
A few other quirks:
He didn’t like when people he was traveling with overpacked, and got frustrated when the women in his life brought too much luggage along on their travels.
He also didn’t like going to studio parties because he didn’t enjoy seeing his animators/their wives get tipsy. He said, “That’s not part of them I want to see.”
And sometimes he would try to get out of eating whatever was for dinner by saying that he already had it at lunch. So Lillian had his secretary call her at home and tell her what he had for lunch so that he couldn’t get away with that anymore. 😂
