Does anyone else wanna see a picture of Oswald and Mickey waving at each other from their respective sides of the cross walk? That would be amazing! More Bueba Vista, Please!
being wheelchair bound has its moments that really cause me to get down, right now is one of those times. your message was very special to me seeing how ive been doubting my importance. i wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart
@@memikel1489this is the single most heartless thing to say. Christians are the absolute worst. If your Jesus were real and did love anyone, people wouldn't need wheelchairs. Your Jesus either doesn't exist, hates some--or all--people, or is pretty incompetent.
@@memikel1489yeah he loved that person so much that he left him in a wheelchair and basically ruined their life. You simply have no idea how hard it is to be in a wheelchair and have difficult it is for people to navigate the world when they can't get up steps. People look at you like you're weird like you're completely invalid and can't do anything for yourself. I spent over 1 years in a wheelchair after I spent over a year and a half in a coma with sepsis. I'm so sorry but let me correct you, Jesus absolutely doesn't love you because if he lost people he would do a much better job of stopping people from suffering the way they do. Why don't you open your eyes and look at what's going on in the world before making ridiculous comments. Thanks for yourself don't just take what people tell you as Gosport because at the end of the day there is no evidence of God so don't speak like he's the all empowering amazing thing that makes the world go around because let me assure you people are really suffering and I promise the last thing most of these people are thinking about is Jesus!
The reason that Disney can now use the image of Oswald the Rabbit, sell shirts and dolls of it, etc, is because in 2006, NBC/Universal traded (yes, traded) the rights to Oswald to Disney in exchange for the Sportscaster Al Michaels (who had been working Monday Night Football games for ABC). At that point, Michaels and his on-air partner John Madden began doing Sunday Night Football games on NBC.
One of my clients, when I was a custom woodworker, was one of the designers that worked on the designs for store fronts for Disneyland. His plans for the work I did were always so detailed and clear. My favourite client, ever.
Thanks a lot for your comments towards the end of your video. I recently became paralyzed down my right side. Right in the middle of that my wife abandoned me one morning while I was asleep. I haven’t seen her since. Thank you for that kind message. I felt like it was directed right at me. I appreciate that. It couldn’t have come at a better time.
I LOVE Chris Provost’s encouraging words in each of his videos! I just introduced his channel to my sister and described him as a modern Fred Rogers. He’s so genuine, gentle, has a child-like wonder… he’s awesome!
The level and layers of detail are insane. When my college buddy and I had annual passes, we would go all the time and just walk around saying as we notice all the details “they didn’t have to do that, and they didn’t have to do that, but they did”.
As a Marine Corps veteran myself, I was specially moved when I heard about the security guards trousers. Very much like how we have the Blood Stripe, they too have it, in respect to the Marine Corps. Must’ve been Walt’s favorite branch!
I am in my late 50's and I have Muscular Dystrophy. A year and half ago my diaphragm became paralyzed. I was placed on ventilator and must use 100% of time. I call it Living on life support. 6 months later the rest of my body became 100% paralyzed below the neck. I know, your wondering how I could type this. I have a computer that tracks my eyes. Now, this not a pity party, I have lived an incredible life. I am a retired judge. I served for 9 years. Prior to that I served as Legislative Liaison for the State Senate President. There are many other exciting things that I done and accomplished all from a wheelchair. When I lived in California I would go to Disneyland several times a year. I miss it a lot. Great video with things I didn't know. Thanks for the encouraging words.
It sounds like you did a lot of good in your life -thus far! Still there is life to be enjoyed and making others feeling loved, included and feel their equality should be our highest priority. God bless you in the rest of life’s adventures! BTW, I’ve not accomplished anything close to what you have but, I know I tried to do most everything I did to the best of my ability. I’m now in in my 60’s and I. Trying to redefine my next or rest of my life goals. I had a full liver transplant about 12:years ago. How wonderful.
@@saul.t.2.969 The peace that comes from surrendering to God's will is unmeasurable. Submitting to God's will is completely different than surrendering. Submitting is what happens when a person points a weapon at you. Surrendering is Jesus Christ in the Garden on the night of His arrest and trial. Not my will but His will. Let surrendering percolate and you will understand what I mean, however, with out the saving grace of Jesus Christ, you will never understand.
@@saul.t.2.969 RU-vid AI blocked my reply to your comment. It had to do with the difference between submitting and surrendering to God's will and the unmeasurable peace that comes from surrendering. Just let surrendering percolate for a little while. Surrendering is what Jesus Christ did in the Garden the night of His arrest and trial.
@@dannydaw59 I don't know anything about MS. I have MD not MS. And yes, it does show up in DNA. MD is not something you acquire, you are born with it. So it something I have dealt with all my life and it is my faith in Jesus Christ that gives me peace and strength.
lol Thank you Chris for ever giving of encouragement and sympathetic support! Lately I’ve had to face mobility challenges and I’ve had to take steps to keep myself able to struggle less while doing fundamental tasks. So again thanks & may you receive good fortune for your words of encouragement.
I’m 62 and disabled and when you stopped and said you wanted to talk to us, it really made my day, thank you very much and I hope one day I can go to Disneyland, I’ve always wanted to. I love TINKERBELL. Thank you for sharing this video and I hope you do more 😊
I love his message of hope to each person no matter what we are going through that really helps me feel better with what I am going through right now, don't even know the man but feels good to hear.
Unfortunately that bit is in error. Red and Blue stitching on baseballs began in 1901 for the American League. The national league began to use red and black stitching in 1911. Both leagues went to all red stitching in 1934. The 1928 tie to the stitching is murky. The other details in this video are outstanding.
I’m a 41 year old adult and I haven’t been to Disneyland in 33 years. I don’t watch the movies anymore but all that being said, your video was done very well and gave me so much information on things I had zero idea about. Keep up the great work.
I'd never seen any of your videos before. They came up as a suggestion from RU-vid. I was having one of my extremely "low days". The time you took in the middle to give your little pep talk made me smile. I hadn't done that for a while. Thank you. New and dedicated follower!
Thank you so much to you and Amanda. I had Ankle tendon surgery a week ago. I know I will recoup but been a little down this week because of my immobility. At the same time I am going through the emotional state of some older parent s who are sick and not doing well. I just wanted you to know that yes, I watch your videos for all of the great facts and fun that you know and give us about Disney. But you're uplifting, talks and positivity always make me feel happy. Please keep up the amazing videos and thanks again!.
Hello. Hang in there. Any foot surgery is a bear. I broke three bones , dislocated my ankle and tore everything in there. I now have six pins and screws in my ankle. It’s been a couple yrs for me to get back to where I was. I’m a 69 yr old woman. I’m actually doing 5K s again. I may not be as fast as I was. But , I’m out there. Let your body take its time to repair its self. Hope your parents are doing better. ❤❤.
I know this is months old, and im watching this at 1:22 am... but i really needed that encouragement and support. My job is closing down soon, the stress of having to find a new job weighed on me all day. and hearing your words of encouragement really kinda struck a chord coming out of nowhere like that. It actually brightened the end of an otherwise painful day. Thank you. I'm autistic, so my emotions are quite intense, it helped me to hold together a bit more.
Hi Chris! These are my favorite kinds of videos!!! I’m a huge Disney history buff so I just love these!!! Thank you so much for doing them, I learn a lot from you!! 💗
I thought originally Mortimer Mouse is the first name of what later became Mickey Mouse, based on any history of Disney I have ever heard of before. "Mickey was created as a replacement for a prior Disney character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. The character was originally to be named "Mortimer Mouse", until Walt Disney's wife, Lillian, suggested "Mickey"."
Thank you for the kind words, really helped. My mom is battling cancer and has been detrimental physically and mentally to all. As always, thank you for helping with your words! Keep on Rockin’ in the free world!🙏❤️😎
Chris, I clicked this video because I LOVE learning more about Disney and you do a great job sharing. I watch because I’m going through cancer treatments, today was hard. You pop on and tell us we matter and it made my day. Thank you for your genius and kindness ❤️
Because even mickey wants to escape disney after it becomes too expensive to live in Cinderella castle, so they have to electrify that lane so he will not escape!
I am disabled and have to use a wheelchair for the past 2 years and last night I was thinking about taking a trip with my fiance and 2 young daughters to Disneyland even if I can only look at the shops and shows and eat the food it's worth the trip for me, so when you said that kind message for the disabled it brought tears to my eyes ❤thank you so much!!
Great video! More Buena Vista please. I appreciated the moment to speak directly to me. I got some bad news recently and that was encouraging. Thank you.
This is my first time seeing your channel. As a San Diego gal, I grew up going to Disneyland every summer. I love all your historic details. Thank you for your kind message. I am fighting pancreatic cancer and actually stopped your video while I got sick. I was happy to have just celebrated another birthday. Your words were timely. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos. ❤
I needed those words of motivation I’ve been completely overwhelmed with sadness and heavy burdens. Thank you so much for taking the time to give us a message of hope.
More Buena Vista, please. Also a huge thank you to your shout, outs, and recognition of those who cannot get out and see these things without people like you doing this. You are awesome. 🌺
Thank you for doing the part about the disabled person being important. Because I'm disabled and I really needed to hear that. I matter and can make a difference to I do try to reach out and remind others they matter. And that they make a difference with every life that they touch with just on how you're a smile. The sometimes you feels good to hear that I matter too. Thank you, and just wanted to let you know. This video was actually pretty awesome and I learned a lot. Thank you so much.❤❤❤❤❤❤
I just found your video today and stopped after you paused and made such kind and thoughtful words of support and encouragement to those going through a tough time. As a mental health professional, I had to jump in and say how beautiful that was to see. I provide therapy to numerous people whose mental health has been drastically impacted by their physical health. Hearing what you said might have been life changing to them in that moment. The world needs more people like you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Now, back to your video 😁
Thank you for those kind words, I’m on dialysis and also have mobility problems and it’s hard to move around and struggle a lot thank you for your motivation
More Buena Vista, please! I really enjoy these secrets/history videos. As always, your positivity and encouragement is appreciated, too ❤ Thank you for building people up
Just watched the video and I couldn't agree more, it's amazing all the history in DCA, specifically on Buena Vista street. I wonder if Walt would have ever guessed the Imagineers would pay so much homage to him in that way. Loved all the information and I'm now realizing I met you on this day. I was the one who talked your ear off. ;) You and Amanda were so lovely. Thanks for such a great and heartwarming content. 💙💚
Speaking of disabled and people with health issues, next to the gas station in the Oswald area there is a place where they will acomódate you for a better Disney experience for you ❤
Your inspirational, loving, & kind message (19:00) was much needed and I appreciate YOU helping my heart feel better and remembering how valuable I am. Thank you again, you helped someone today! ❤️ Blessings to you & your family!
Love these deep dives! Please keep them coming! Also, do you have a video about your story? I really appreciate your heart and how you are always trying to uplift people!
@provostparkpass check out dca at closing. He definitely rides the trolley back to the entrance of avengers campus. Sometimes hes already on the trolley but hes definitely had to walk up Buena Vista to get on.
I spend alot of time with mickey on BVS he definitely crosses the crosswalk, and the kiss goodnight from the main gate trolly stop is definitely part of his shift both he and Minnie start by Elias and Trolley treats and go all the way to the trolley stop; sorry to break the story someone told you, Oswald also goes to Animation on Hollywood Street from time to time
This was so much fun to watch! Provost Park Pass is our favorite Disney info site. Thank you for all you do. Headed to the park for May the 4th! Maybe we'll see you there.
There are videos of Oswald by the fountain in the middle. So maybe it changed. Plus the year of the rabbit he was in the back of the park. And never knew about the rest
I never expected a video about disneyland would hold my interest, but gee was I wrong! It was so interesting to get past all the commercialism & learn about the finer details... thank you. PS I especially appreciated your words of encouragement. Greetings from Australia 👋🦘
Thank you for the validating message. I was diagnosed with lupus in February this year, I was glad that I finally had a name to my problems, and I'm trying to be positive and okay with it, but it's still terrifying. I know that I'm not really okay, but I don't want to upset the people I care about. The message in your video couldn't have come at a better time. Thank you.
One of the first jobs my dad had after getting out of the Army Air Force was with the Hollywood Stars at Gilmore Field. At that same time he was working at the Pan Pacific Aud. Later in 1955 he worked the soft and hard opening of Disneyland. He was working security dressed as a Keystone Kop. Thanks for pointing out the secrets on this episode. Make more please!
I just stumbled upon your video tonight ( May 8th,2024) while I was waiting for my night meds to kick in. I'm glad I did, I love history and this was right up my alley. The message you gave about not giving up was perfect timing, I have serious medical issues and I'm waiting for some test results, thank you for the encouraging words and your fantastic video.
You bring happiness to us too. I’m having a bad day today, and I just watched your video. I am smiling now. Thank you for what you do. 😊 PS: More Buena Vista Please! 🏰
13.00 I’m chronically ill and have now I have a bad physical injury to the point I need a wheelchair regularly. I’ve been given a inheritance I knew zero about it’s a small amount but enough to go to Disney for the first time. My husband’s wary because of my health but I unfortunately think I’m as good as I’m likely to get, and I figure that Disney is very accepting and accessible so I’m feeling determined especially after hearing your message. For most of my life I’ve always been megra “I’m a damsel I’m in distress I can handle it good day” I may buy a goddess style dress in purple with a darker purple belt. I’m not sure how I will do it but I will. Your video is my first Disney video the algorithm has sent my way since I decided we should go. I feel it’s answered my what should we go to Disney or do something else. I feel it has something for us all. My 13yo is roll eyes over Disney but Star Wars and marvel he likes my husband will also probably like the Jedi stuff, he will probably enjoy the roller coasters my daughter 19 is a bit ott but she loves Kyle ren❤ so she can flirt with kylo I can flirt with Gaston and my older can flirt with cronk. I’m excited and your little aside makes me feel determined I can and will do this
Thanks for posting! I was fortunate enough to actually work on CA Adventure (Paving and Rockwork) It's great to teach that nothing there is without a concept or a story. Please keep telling it!
Not to put too fine of a point on it, but what you explained was that the tile was a hand crafted representation of Walt Disneys' tile and was not, in fact, Walt Disneys' tile. I would love to see the original tile in situ. Don't know how you knew, but your little chat was exactly what I needed at a serendipitous moment. you caused my heart to feel a little bit lighter, thank you! Being a world class history nerd who was born in Burbank ,Ca. in 1955 your content holds a particular significance for me. I celebrated my fiftieth birthday there because I promised my 10 yo self I would do so AND stay in the Disneyland Hotel. My entourage included my wife and my 5 yo grandson. That was a party! Much to my wifes' dismay, I arranged for my grandson to "help me" shut down the park at the end of July.
I never heard of your channel, but your message to everyone out there struggling made me an instant subscriber....great video too, I'll never forget 1927 versus 1928
I just wanted to say thank you for that little aside near the end of the video. I walk with a cane and it's often hard not to feel like a burden on my loved ones because of certain things I have a difficult time with. I was feeling especially down while watching your video but that really spoke to me. Thank you
More Buena Vista please! What’s really incredible is to think that Disney had to make all those props, those books, the photos and find everything to help tell the story!!! ❤️
Thank you for what you said about people with disabilities and other health issues. I fit in both categories with physical disabilities (joint contractures, vision and mild hearing loss), developmental delays, and severe depression/anxiety. When my mom and I went to Disney World for the first time in 2007, I was 27. We rented a wheelchair at every park except Downtown Disney, do to stamina issues. The one good part about having disabilities is that a lot of times you can go in through the exit and not have to stand in long lines. For shows, wheelchairs tend to get front row seats. My favorite picture that my mom took was at the Lion King show whe Timon kissed my hand. Disney definitely tries to go all out to accommodate people with disabilities. A shout out to anyone with a disability, you're not alone. At 44, I am an advocate for people with disabilities in Ohio. I am also trying to publish a poetry book for and about people with various disabilities.
Videos like these blow my mind!! History is my favorite subject and more details the better!! Please continue to do videos like these!! My husband and I adore your channel!! ❤
Haven’t been to Disneyland and never knew about Oswalt. I grew up watching Walt Disney every Sat night and later visited Disneyworld and Epcot. Loved Epcot!
Chris your videos are such a light on tough days. I tear up at your kind messages often, but I'm disabled and going through a tough time so this one really hit home ❤ I'm planning a Disney trip for my birthday in fall and learning so much from your videos. I love the history of it all and maybe that's why Oswald is my favorite cartoon of Walt's (just don't tell Mickey that 😂)
when they first opened Cal Adventure, there was a cast member that worked at Elias and company that was purposely rude. Elias was supposed to be a high end shop and the cast member was supposed to be bothered when a customer wasted his Prescious time. I loved that character.
Also funny that Chris was walking past Elias and Company when he asked about more deep dives. That cast member sounds like the guy that checks you in when you eat at the blue bayou.
Great information love all the history , I’m a total Walt Disney fan anything I can learn about Walt and his parks I’m in , thanks for educating a lot of us and tell your wife thanks too she seems very supportive in your quest
Oh wow dude, I never knew about the cross Walk line between 1927-1928 and that Mickey can't cross over as well as the other character, Oswald. Thank you very much for the information and the story behind it. God bless you and your lovely wife. And please do a part 2 if you would, thank you.
Thank you for such a wonderful video!!! More Buena Vista!! And as a person with some hard physical disability challenges, thank you. Disney is the one place a year I can forget a lot of the hardships and hospital stays.....your video gave me the best of Disney (that I didn’t know! (And Im usually the MOST Disney educated person in the room LOL--you have me beat by a mile!) AND you said nice things about people with disabilities. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. ❤❤❤
MORE BUENA VISTA... MORE DEEP DIVES... MORE of ALL the neat tid bits at the parks!! I had bought the "Hidden Mickey's" book @ DisneyWorld but only found maybe half at all the parks... I LOVE all the neat things/work Walt & the Imagineers put into these places!!! Ps... Thank you for the short yet uplifting side note ... I wish I could take my kids to ANY Disney park, money & mobility stop me tho .. especially the money. I hate it.... But to hear a stranger say such a beautiful thing means something to me!!! So, thank you!! 💚💙💜🥰
7:32 @Chris Sorry, small error in your facts, The baseball stitches of red and blue were used by the Atlantic League from 1901 to the merger into Major League standards of red only in 1934, the National League had used red and black so when MLB made the standard we can only guess they picked the common colour in both leagues so nobody argued. Before 1901 plain tan leather laces had been used and we guess the colour was added to make the ball rotation more visible for the batters. UK baseball fan.
