It is a worse version of it though.......... Since white's bishop is already developed, it changes the position completely and is just not good for black (like, white can just basically play like how black plays in the Vienna Gambit mainline and get a much better position than black gets in the Vienna Gambit).
It is a pretty common line but yeah I feel that way after most opener videos. You do this they do this you do this and they do this checkmate so easy especially if you get to play both sides.
another trap for you in the Rousseau gambit if your opponent doesnt take the pawn and instead plays Nc3 defending their e-pawn, take the e-pawn anyway with fxe4, if they take back with Nxe4, you simply play pawn to d5 which is a fork of their knight and bishop and you win a piece
ive been playing the Rousseau for months and ive always gone with the regular d5 Bxf5 variation which is a little more solid, interesting to know that this exists though
White has a reverse trap though. After the white knight is attacked by pawn E4, instead of retreating it can move the knight to D4. if black falls for this and takes with knight, white is now winning with Qh5+
Actually, after 4...e4 attacking the Knight on f3. It may look like the squares are defended but the best move for White is Nd4. Which seems dangerous because after 5. Nd4 and 5...Nxd4, Black is threatening a fork on c2. It's no where near fast enough though and 6. Qh5+ is pretty dangerous for Black.
That is such a specifically captured moment in time. If every move is properly made.....to know this shit is legit, 100%, "Walter White" (whoever crowned that BS in the name) You will understand that it's a special luck shot that can only be achieved against a rare noob...nuff said
Great oppening for below 1200. However you are already lose if oppenent just defend his pawn and later attack your king as c7 is very vital to keep the king safe
Rousseau Gambit is well known for being awful. Even in this line with exf5 e4 white still has the move Nd4, the knight cant be taken bc of Qh5+ and blacks king gets his ass beat. But its a gambit so have fun.
