Finally a review of the RM8 that shows its full potential with accuracy testing and field work combined. Great work Si and Davy, i have mentioned in the past about buying my first PCP and now i have good enough reason to buy Walther, cheers chaps and keep the films coming.
was enjoying this review immensley , you both seemed to have that smile factor which says it all about the rifle , got get one now , cheers si + Davy .
Good to see you both back , and a very enjoyable review of the RM8. This could have been the next gun for the cabinet, however it has been filled with a Mk1 Rapid , but maybe next time . But you have shown that the more you pay does not always get you a better gun.
Si and Davy great review! One could be confident in buying one of these on your appraisal alone. Cant fault such an all round appraisal. Thanks a bunch.
Excellent review guys! One of the many things I have learned from you is when sighting in a scope or shooting a group to check accuracy I have started using a target with a dot relative to the size of the scopes cross hairs. Too big of a "bulls eye" and you can't hold the cross hairs in the same spot for each shot. The gun may be accurate but if you don't hold the exact place then you can't have consistent shot placement. Thanks for work you both contribute to the air gun sport and hunting!
Have enjoyed all your reviews and information. It has helped my shooting and enjoyment. It's always more fun when I hit what I am aiming at. Thank you, please keep it up!
Solid review of my RM8. Superb rifle, picked mine up second hand with a bipod, silencer and scuba tank for £400. Just one of the best rifles out there, fact.
Sorry to highjack your post Si-davey but i did a vid i did over a year ago when i got my RM8 and its an excellent rifle for the money .I use .22 Crossman Ultra Magnums in mine as these are the pellet that mine seems to like . Ive had many bunnies ans rats with this beauty of a rifle and im glad you've finally done a review of it ,well done and keep up the good work as i love watching your channel . Oh neary forgot the RM8 is on par with my BSA R10 MK II at half the price a real bargin .
I bought one from Sandwell Field Sports after watching this. The rifle is superb for plonking and small game hunting. Great price and we'll worth buying as a first pcp.
I checked several reviews then watched this and just went out and Bought one (.177 model) from CS Sporting in Cwmbran and 60 shots later I am honestly impressed with this rifle (and the cost!). Thanks Lads.
A great honest review and hitting targets and on the vermin to I like mine allot and I am hitting spinners at 55m yes a hit and miss with my bsa lightening but with the rm8 every time thanks for the video and your time
1 of the best pcp,s on the market for the money, brilliant review mind! I usually only fill mine to 180 bar especially for hunting as your not guna run out of shots, and the power curve is spot on to about 90bar
Hi lads I'm new to your Chanel that was some great testing on the RM 8 .. I think my mind is made up. The RM 8 will be my first ari rifle thank you so much from Mick in Ireland 👍😉😀
Hi new to this, Bought this gun after reviewing others, watching this made my mind up, glad now I did, think this channel is brilliant, I'm very happy with this gun, I hit pellet on pellet with mine, keep it up lads 👍
Hi Si & Davy, That rifle looks good and shoots good. It actually look like a bsa r10 it shoots as good as a r10 from what I can see. great statistics. definitely up there with the best of them. but you boys are definitely the boys to put it through its pace. top shooting by the way. top range shooting and top vermin control. all in all brilliant. glad to see you boys back at it. keep up the good work. all the best. and as Rex hunt would say thank your mother for the rabbits.
Yes, they are very professional but still down-to-earth and good shots. I just watched another so-called test between the BSA and the RM8 only using 3 types of pellet and forgetting to lock the magazine in and although he has a very good gun rest it is on a very wobbly table he said he was pleased with the results but it was not a very good test for either gun.
Spot on review on the RM8. It's my first pcp i bought from Redbeck shooting supplies. Can't fault it great accuracy solid rifle. for the price you'll not get anything to match it.
Thank you, from an old git who wishes more young people in Birmingham who had dogs, chose a hunting terrier and not a useless status dog. The rodent population is overwhelming so guys like yourselves doing something to reduce this is welcome. A good review undertaken with great attention. Well done.
Looking to add to my Tx200hc & this pops up again & again, shame the beech has risen to £450 now, but tactical can be had for £360 making that a steal. Thanks for the review.
I was going to buy a bsa clx but after watching a few videos on the rm8 including this one has more than convinced me how good the rm8 just need to find somewhere to shoot it.
Brilliant review Si & Davy I have a RM8 in .22 cal since they first came out, its imo a great value pcp, which as you guys have proved is as accurate as more expensive air guns, i have fitted mine with a harris bipod and a sling aa field pellets .22 are as you use the most consistantly accurate, Thanks Guys for another Ethical airgun Vid.!!!!! atb brian
Hi Si and Dave, Great review I enjoyed all of it , I got a question I hope you can answer is the Walther Rotex RM8 Varmint Ultra Compact as good as the Walther Rotex RM8 please
Absolutely fantastic review of this rifle. Very informative and knowledgeable. New to PCP air rifles but not shooting, I'm finding this channel invaluable. coming from Rhodesia we never had this amount of choice. LOL. looking at buying my very first air rifle, specifically a PCP rifle guys. How does the RM8 compare to the BSA R10 MK2 in your opinions and are there other options I should consider. My best mate has just ordered the Brocock Compatto for Christmas.....lucky bugger. LOL. I know you guys really rate the Brocock range to. Appreciate any advice. Thanks again and keep up the great reviews and tips.
That's fantastic shooting. What a very good accurate gun. Do you ever do revisits to see how they hold their accuracy after a couple of years in the field, or are these just on loan and you hand them back ?
I'm 14 minutes in and already really impressed with the rx8 , a fantastic tool at that price and it really does look like it performs impeccably, the ol hedge creeper rob Collins raves about them too and the young shots he knocks about with seem to get along with it too
Great video as always ! How would you compare this rifle to the AA S200 ? ( Accuracy wise and more importantly in loudness) I'm looking for a compact, accurate and mostly quiet 12 ft lb pcp rifle that would not break the bank... Kind regards
Great review si can i aks which calibre would you advise in the rm8 have watch both your reveiws, i am looking at buying one mostly use it for vermin control out at between 30 to 40 mts, at moment i have walther lgu .177 great rifle so accurate but need one with magazine do like walthers cheers
Do a gun collection video , so we can see your gun collection and a talk through you reasons , likes and dislikes , cheers guys , its a thumbs up from me .
Hi lads. Stumbled across this vid whilst researching this rifle... i have subscribed awhile ago but never noticed this one until recently when i decided to go down PCP route. How did the RM 8 pan out over time? Ive heard such a mixed bag over this gun... i.e.. anything from 9.4ft/lb - 11.5ft/lb (i need accuracy and concistancy from 25-35yrds) .problems with double loading, mag/ pellet indexing needing forcing. Etc...bolt action sticky/ clumpy etc. basically can u still recommend over the hatsan at44-10 , for example or similar?? Any other recommendations for an entry level PCP for vermin an odd bunny? Cheers lads.
In another of your vids, you put a sling on the Rotex RM8 .177. Does the same apply to the .22 version? I'm asking because in this vid you mention the weight of it, but didn't mention a sling. Loving the vids by the way, keep them coming guys.
Very impressive. I'd love to own one but I think it's too 'serious' a rifle for me. I dont think I'm worthy of a PCP rifle yet. I shoot in fits and spurts and dont think I can justify the cost of all the accompanying support equipment you'd need for a PCP. Maybe if/when I become more consistent and regular in my airgun shooting I'll 'graduate' to something so obviously worthy. I'll stay in the break-barrel peanut gallery for now looking on at the awesome gear you guys have.
Hello, After watching your video, I also bought a Walther RM8. You have made a fantastic video and I am thrilled by the Walther. Since I live in Germany, I only own 7.5 Joule, how much Joule does your Rotex have? Can you also tell me which Diabolo you use? Thanks again! Best regards from Germany! Detlev Sorry for my bad English, I am 59 years old and have never learned it properly.
Ive got one a year ago, the thing never miss,s its great , ive shot a fox with mine about 30 yards head shot , it went down , a shaken stevens lol shake rattle and roll of tp fox land in the skies
You seriously knocked over a fox at about 30 yds? I take it that you have the .22? I've got a bit of a fox problem and was wondering what I would need to deal with them. Seems as though I have found the solution. What pellets did you use? Thanks.
Hi There, what a great review, i am going to buy this rifle but i would like to buy it in .177, and if required use a heavy Gr pellet for hunting like Matalmag, Polymag, Baracuda, .... do you think that this is a good direction to take in .177 or would you think that this rifle performs at its best in .22 only. and i should buy in your experience .22 only, ?, i would be so pleased to heare your honest reply, Kind regards.
Nice piece of German equipment and with a great price too , does it come in fac? It really worked miracles in your hands boys. Best Regards Joseph from Malta
The rm8 has been my number 2 in the Walther family the first one is Walther Reign .25cal than the Walther rm8 .22cal in black. But I'm having a hard time finding the black synthetic version here in America pyramid air only sails the wooden stock. Is the black a special addition only sold in UK or something else why not sold in America?
Hi guys. have the exact same rifle and have shot hundreds of rabbits with it but I can't help feeling it lacks in power. after various chrono with 14.5 grain pellets it's showing to be as little as under 10 ft lb. would you say this is just my rifle as this was putting out over 11 and mine hasn't put that power out since I've owned it nearly a year ago. this was on a chronograph at 100 bar aswell. any advice on that one ? cheers.
This is a well built gun I have the beech stock .22 version and I agree with Si and Davy on how good it is, but DO NOT BUY THIS GUN I had a accident while out using it. Whilst out I slipped and fell catching a branch of a tree with the bi pod which caused the stock to split. I tried to contact Walther for a replacement and even some of their dealers, nobody especially Walther were interested and did not even reply, so the moral of the story is, if you are going to buy a PCP buy one from a reputable manufacturer and suppliers so if you do have an accident they will try and supply replacement parts NOT like Walther/Umarex
I have this rifle in .177 and it does the same on the range in all distances as the guys with bsa fx or Daystate etc . 😂 it’s just a question of wether you prefer driving an Audi or a Porsche for aesthetics, I personally would prefer to have a Daystate wolverine R but it won’t do anything different for you. In my opinion anyway 💪
What brand of pellets were you using for this video? I am planning on buying a RM8 myself here soon and would like to know the most accurate of ammo for it to help with pest control. Thanks
i wonder if that mag has anything to do with the excellent accuracey . I tlooks to be v pellet freindly.thepellets dont rattle or seem to be pinched at all and all sat uniform and flush. Walther know their barrels are good but some rifle manufacturers pellet delivery sytems cn be rough on the pellet . and it looks to be something walther have solved with simple engineering .
had to return mine after 2 weeks it dropped from 11.5 down to 10.5 in a week and then intermittently dropping to 9.2 ftlbs ,pellet drops 1-2" at 30 yards ,just can't trust it to hit anything.
