People always get confused on why Chanel said, “I can’t let you get close”. He meant emotionally. He couldn’t Let Wanderlei get close to his heart because that’s how you really defeat Uncle Chael.
@@KusagariBlues you aren’t allowed to fight outside of scheduled bouts on the ultimate fighter if you’re a fighter because it fucks with the commission.
When I listen to Chael talking, I sometimes imagine him being alone in the middle of the night, still talking...like he just never stops and is always talking. He’s in the shower talking, going to the bathroom, still talking, in the middle of a desert - still talking. 😄❤️
All BS aside “I can’t let you get close” is one of the funniest but also most gangster lines in a confrontation. Wouldn’t expect anything less from Uncle Chael.
Karl Arden yeah I haven’t seen it either. I know the comments you guys have with the “Chael is god” memes might suggest everyone has seen it, most haven’t
I’m brazilian and I think Chael always outsmarted his oponents when it came to “sell his character”. He talked a lot of shit, became hated by a lot of brazilians and that sold tons of tickets. But in the end, we all know that this is how you play this game. And by the way, we don’t have internet or electricity in Brazil.
@@firecrackerjack68 Fuck, where is this from again? Been so long I can't remember, but reading these comments makes me wanna go watch it right now hahaha
how is he not involved in the commentary etc. He would be great. He's got an awesome voice and he literally comes out with such poetic and clever stuff. Legendary
I'm a brazilian guy and I can say for sure that people from here, after the incident with wanderley, started to give you more credit because of your approach to the situation and throughout the TUF.
Wanderlei actually answered this question recently in a podcast. My Portuguese is a little rusty so bare with me, He said "Everybody thinks my issue with Mr. Chael is due to what he said about Brazilians, and yes that is partly the case, however it goes deeper than that. When I was younger I did not receive much love or connection from friends and relatives. Everyone was afraid of getting close to me. This hurt me deep and I initially started Muay Thai as I saw the clinch as a way of getting close to people. I had my issues with Chael before the show, however, I made the decision to forgive and finally have physical contact with him in the form of a hug, even exclaiming to him that I "wannanow". It was at this point I heard Mr. Chael state "I can't let you get close" which tore me up inside as it made me have flashbacks to my traumatic childhood. It was at this point I responded to this rejection with violence."
I once heard an ancient Chinese tale of a mysterious warrior known because every day he climbed the biggest mountain close to the town, completely barefoot. The village started wondering who this man was, as they always saw him leave before the sunrise and returned at night with sandals on. Finally one day the villagers got together and climbed the top of the mountain before the sunrise to see what this unknown warrior did up there, some hours after the sunrise they see the man slowly reaching the top, they feel fear and excitement as they are finally going to solve the mystery of the warrior. The warrior reaches the top and sees the whole village waiting for him... He has no expression. After a couple of seconds, that felt like hours of intense silence, the village leader steps forward and before he could break the silence, the warrior pushes him with both hands and says "I can't let you get close". The End
As a Brazilian, I didn't like Chael to much during the time of the fight with Anderson, but after the TUF Chael x Jones I started to understand his character and how he truly is.
This what the WWE needs Today..these are the kind of guys when I was a kid made wrestling great. Someone who can actually talk trash and be creative with it.. surprised they never tried to hire him. He certainly has the lingo down
By the time Chael left the UFC he was too old for Vince to get many years out of him. With a year or two to study the game from the inside, Chael would have learned quick af oc. Chael talked about it in one of his videos once but I forget where
Chael: Insults all of Brazil by insinuating they don't have access to the internet, clean water, education, claims the Nogueira brothers fed a carrot to a bus, shit on Anderson Silva for years constantly and overall dismantles the entire pride of Brazil Also Chael: You're not making me feel very welcome here 😂
Wandy: "What now?! What now?! What now?! What now?!" Chael: "Stop. I don't wanna fight. Stop. Please, just stop." [Chael shoves Wandy] Chael: "I can't let you get close!" Aside from "lemme bang bro" and Rampage pulverizing an entire door in mere seconds, this was probably the next best moment in Ultimate Fighter history.
THANKS for coming out with so much videos to watch chael no one like you and your interesting to listen to i love it when nothing to do at home can just put on youtube and you always got a new video out !!!
I’ve been subscribed for awhile and I just came across this old video, Cheal breaks things down in a way that’s impossible not to listen to if you want to hear his side on anything involving UFC. Great content Chael👍🏼
This made me a fan like how bad ass do you have to be to stay that calm with an Axe Murderer in front of you. Then you take him down with the smoothest of ease lol because he got close. I watched this when it first happened
One of the best highlights from a tuf season they will ever play. I'm sure this wasn't a fun season for you but you gave us all what we wanted to see. Thank you! Also love the theme music you should do a WWE run lol.
This guy is awesome. Literally awesome. I started following the fight game about 6 months ago and have seen some great Chael quotes but this situation and the line about the "tooth" brush coming from Brazil bc they have 1 tooth is classic..
@@kstonurai9350 Pocket sand and some cardio, best self defense. Striking = break your hand, possibly kill someone, etc. Grappling = get stabbed, or gang beat sucker punch + cardio = best chance to live another day. Now of course it'd be nice to know it all incase of the worst, but realistically cardio should be your main weapon, or vocal martial arts.
The thing I love about chael is ALL ethnicities love him! They understand that he understands the game and the fighters that truly dislike him don’t understand he’s helping their fame and putting more money in their pockets!
I wish I can tell a story as good as Chael ! A lot of times the end of his stories are not quite as exciting I would expect but the whole lead up to it is damn fun to listen to.
I've watched every single season of TUF, including all TUF Brazil seasons. IMO that was the best season of TUF Brazil and one of the best TUF seasons in general. Chael and Wanderlei brought that heat, and the animosity Wanderlei had for Chael seemed 100% authentic. But I also remember all the fighters being top caliber and better than most the U.S. contestants I've seen. I still remember Shoeface and he was a total stud! I've always liked Chael, but gained even more respect for him when I saw what an amazing coach he is! I believe even though Brazilians were mad at him for comments made, he still won the respect of his team. Wandelei is obviously an intimidating fighter, but should stick to fighting. He's an exciting fighter, just not a very good coach.
Chael handed Wanderlei the gift of defeating his nation's enemy and being the good guy on international tv, and Wanderlei threw it away without a shred of gratefulness.
I was like 12-13 when chael fought Silva I remember my dad n I waiting a few months in advance to watch it n seeing all the hype that chael brought on was pretty good can't believe how fast time flys
