@@wasabi5338 He's a real tool sometimes, but he means well. I also got the interview after with Chael where he explained he talked to Dana, Dana started yelling, and then Chael simply, calmly, said, "I could not look like a chump on TV or in front of my guys because I am playing the "Bad Guy" Character" and Dana understood that but said back "I still have to reprimand you in front of him otherwise he'll think I took your side, even though I saw what happened too." So he basically admitted that he knew what and why Chael reacted the way he did, but still had to do that on TV for making sure Wanderlei stayed in check.
The fact the Chael went over to Brazil in such a hostile environment and still managed to keep his cool the whole time just shows how much of a don he is.
@@machinegun2282 You obviously haven’t read into the back story of what happened with a lot of the Brazilian public before and TUF and while TUF was on if you’re commenting that - so to expand briefly on my comment; Chael received death threats before TUF from Brazilian fans, and death threats while he was there filming the show from people in the streets etc. So to the average person they would be shitting there jocks going to a place where you’ve been receiving death threats. But Chael showed it didn’t phase him at all, like with that I said above - shows how much of a don he is.
@@williamwhitfield6225 i agree, that's what he is ! i big child, get's mad when he feels offended and can't control his emotions, thank you God Chael got his revenge haha
@@thaistomp Chael might be an absolute scum back then, but he never sucker punched someone or hit someone while trying to intimidate them. Even in a street fight without rules, you don't hit a man while he's not looking at you because you already lost your credibility as a man the moment you did that.
@@doomslayer2873 I love that Dana is including Chael in it, but after that Chael had to call him up and refused to yell at Dana, but he called him up on the phone once Wanderlei was gone, and he basically said I'm the bad guy, let me be the bad guy, and let me just get through this thing without calling me out. I did what I had to do to defend my 'bad guy' image. Dana understood that at least.
12:24 really funny to think chael is just chilling in his sandals and just turns and sees silva just watching him mumble soon like wtf long have you been standing there
I love chael but will say it he better be glad lmao he didn't have to face a prime silva and I'm American and love me some chael thT silva scariest mthrfkr ever to step in a ring.
@@redmarine2717 getting on your back for a few seconds without taking damage then having the fight broken up soon after is a loss in the streets? Good thing the "streets" don't matter to people of importance
I didnt realize he lost. I know these fights dont count on their pro records, but it would have shed more light on his last fight if most people knew Costa actually wasnt undefeated and that he had been beat on the ultimate fighter.
@@Mr.T-BAGGIN-UR-MOM false hyping and learning are different, I think it says more about a fighter if they can lose fights as an amateur and then become a killer as a pro. Shows they are human but are willing to work overtime to become the best
A lot of MMA guys in general are, I think. You have guys like Chael and regular guys. Then there are the neanderthals at the other end of the spectrum. No class.
The quick cut at 12:23 to Wanderlei looking like he's on the brink of insanity with the looming and foreboding music in the background instantly made me crack up lmao
I'm a Wanderley fan because I'm Brazilian and on TUF Brazil I was rooting for him. Sonnem spoke a lot about Brazil, but at TUF he surprised people with his humility and respect for the athletes, I ended up rooting for his team more than Wanderley
"Wanderlei comes to me with an ultimatum. He says that if I don't apologize to him... he's going to leave the show. Well now you have to leave the show dummy! Because I'm not going to apologize and now you've talked yourself into a situation where there's no win here for you!" I love hearing his stories about his time on this season. "I will accept his resignation and continue on" 😂
We can all meme about Costa to a certain degree nowadays, with all the excuses regarding the Adesanya fight, and all the excuses that followed. But props to him to check up on Chael at 13:18. He is a Brazilian, and he's on Team Wanderlei, yet he's making sure Chael is ok, rather than "sticking with his own". That deserves som respect in my eyes, glad to see that he did that.
That's the point many people don't get: Sonnen was well received by Wanderley's team too, people (i.e. the fans) started cheering for him after Wanderley crossed the line many times. I'm Brazilian and i was cheering for him even in his 2012 fight against Anderson, because i already knew Anderson was a bit arrogant, an aspect about him that many people only talked about after his fight against Weidman. Nowadays all of them are cool, in hindsight for some of them it was part of promoting the fight (Chael), or psicological warfare within the fights (Anderson and Wand)... but they were fighters, they shouldn't care too much about being "nice", specially among themselves, they were there to make money. Anderson, Sonnen and Wand are really cool guys, Sonnen and Wand talked good things about each other, and even Anderson and Sonnen are ok now as well. This is just a sport.
can't lie, I respect how Dana handled the situation at the end. mainly keeping the sport in a professional side. although we loved seeing chael and silva fighting. these dude fight for thousands.
I think Chael talked about this on the JRE. He kept trying to be the bad guy because things go better when there's clearly a good vs bad guy situation. However Silva kept trying to attack Chael (which made Chael look like the good guy). A good guy would apologize, but Chael was specifically trying to not do that. For whatever reason, Silva just wouldn't undertand or accept that.
Fragile mental game? That guy has fought literally everybody that’s worth a damn in the sport. He’s only had like a 100 fights. He had to have facial reconstruction from all the damage done from fighting. I like em both, but I think Wand deserves a little more respect than that.
First 30 seconds... Dana: "Chael and Wanderlei is the BIGGEST rivalry in the history of the UFC, perhaps the entire sport!" Chael: "I don't even know Wanderlei..."
Chael is the most savage gangster for even doing this show 😂😂 the funniest part was when chael rolled his eyes when wanderlie was talking at the weigh ins towards the end of this video 😂😭😭😭
Man, UFC really is the highest proving ground of MMA, look at Antonio Carlos Junior he won the ultimate fighter then fought in the UFC had some wins and loses and then lost three fights in a row, so the UFC cut him and now within 9months he's the current light heavyweight champion in PFL! It really tells you how hard the competition is in the UFC!! And same can be told about Corey Anderson too
Crazy season. Amazing moments with chael and wanderlie, the backstory makes it that much better with Chaels comment, the hate Brazil has for him, it’s a tense season. Had some good fighters too, Paulo Costa, and Wallrey Alves the first guy to beat Colby Covington
@@darylhall2198 dude had so much promise. Crazy how mma works man. Look at Cody Gharbrandt, Darren Till they were fast tracking till they got caught smh
@@beardineric6558 yeah more so cody, tbh i never thought till was that special, imo stephen thompson should have got the decision against him, but with cody yeah it was a hard fall, hopefully he can come back but once you keep getting koed it does something to the brain.
I'm Brazilian and i never hated him. He was trying to promote the fight, besides that... a false information is a false information for me, nothing to be "hurt" about. Words can't hurt. And like i said, he always tried to promote the fight and that hate made Silva vs Sonnen II really big here in Brazil, at that times i were no nationalist at all, when the socialists 'govern' (pretend to) your country that effect is common. Nowadays even Wand is a friend of him, i already knew by that time that he was a nice guy, and that's confirmed by his RU-vid channel in the current days. He specially talks good things about Paulo Costa, Werdum and so on.
i'm 2 years late to this video but honestly I love how Paulos character developed over the last couple of years, from a sweet looking guy in tuf to blaming his losses on alcohol, to being one of the most beloved guys in the UFC with the stuff he posts on twitter
you could barely hear it, but chael says "Fucking Amateur" as he takes wandy down and punches him in the face, you can see it at 13:11 , gotta love uncle chael
I bet nobody wanted to be on Chael's team. Chael has the biggest balls for doing a TUF tournament in hostile territory. I'm not sure there are enough people crediting Chael for doing this tournament given that Brazilians are extremely passionate about the pride of their country. God bless you Uncle Chael, the American Gangster from the mean streets of West Linn, Oregon.
That TUF Finale, both coaches were in attendance in Brazil. When they showed Chael, the crowd cheered. When they showed Wanderlei, the crowd has some cheers & boos😂
Can we all appreciate the fact that not only did Chael tried to avoid fist a cuffs with Silva, but when it did get to that point, he chose to take him down in fucking flip flops, 👌 fucking beautiful that shit
its funny how chael made a joke about brazilian kids playing in the mud, and they ended up playing in mud. I dont know if this was intential but its hilarious
