It is now 7/17/24. I look back on this and can’t believe how horrible this idea was haha. It was just the excited of trying the first aftermarket sensor and using a different front door pad. Things have evolved since this post. PLEASE do not do this!!!
I recommend going on the pad under the grip. Been meaning to post an update video. Adhering the sensor to the controller lid did not work in the long run. Also you can crack the lid since a urethane pad is unsupported. I definitely recommend a sheet metal plate to go between the pad and the controller lid to properly support the urethane pad.
you should make a follow up video on how it’s going and if it’s worth it also it would look sick with the new 64s colors I want to do this with the purple ones but i want to make sure it’s worth it before i do that with my own money and my only gt❤
This is really just me being impatient and trying out the sensor that I plan on using for my VESC build. I have an aftermarket sensor arriving in a few weeks that goes under the grip tape. I’ll post a review of that pad as well. Just taking the opportunity to try something new on this particular video 🤙🏼
I’m using this sensor on my VESC build. So I just wanted to try it out on my GT. I will review a sensor that goes under the grip tape in a few weeks when it arrives.
I'm all about DIY but if you aren't I suggest just buying the Platypus footpads from Land-Surf. Very similar to a Kush Wide and the sensor is built into the front footpad, plug and play.
I was intrigued by a post someone made of putting it under the pad, so I wanted to give it a try. I’m working on a similar build for my VESC. I know it’s not the norm and what the community is used to, but I’m willing to give it a shot and see how it performs. Figured I’d share it with everyone.
That's what I was thinking as well. I feel like the sensor would be better protected under the grip tape instead of under the pad where dirt and water can still work it's way in. Curious on the longevity of this!
How did this end up working out? Because I'm really concerned about the spillage of the sides of the sensor, over the sides of the controller box, where the. Gt Kushpad. Has a molded shelf that will pinch that down?
The application has developed way beyond this initial post. I owe everyone a follow up for sure. Shoot me an email at beastcoastinli@gmail.com. I am overseas at the moment. I’ll be back at it 10/10. I’ll gladly reach out and discuss with you. I will be posting a follow up in the next month or so.
No problem. Yea, V2 is discontinued. V3 will work just fine. Yes, make sure you order the three pin connector. Then just follow the video to extract your stock foot pad connector to repurpose for the V3 sensor. I must admit, stick the sensor to the controller box has given me some inconsistent results……my wife works perfectly. At this point I recommend sticking it to a aluminum plate that lays on top of the rails. Or do it old school and go under the grip. I am working on a follow up video to share my experience.
@@beastcoastrepairs Thanx Bud, I just ordered. I was going to go with the bypass and just have a one engagement pad anyway - I did it with my CBXR and it just makes life easier. I have not done the bypass with GT yet however. You are saying to custom fit a aluminum plate for that ?
Exactly. Shoot me a message on instagram at beast coast repairs or an email beastcoastinli@gmail.com I’ll send you a shot of what I did on my VESC board. Gonna get some plates made for the GT as well I’m the near future for a variety of reasons.
Tons. This was just a preliminary test of an aftermarket sensor. Things have evolved much further than this. I just haven’t made a follow up video as it’s fairly common knowledge these days.
@@mrawesome1821 shoot me a message in instagram @beastcoastrepairs or email me at beastcoastinli@gmail.com I’ll gladly walk you through how you can make yourself a customer front pad.
If it’s for a GT, you have to use a heat gun or a hair dryer, heat up the glue in your stock pad and carefully extract the connector. You cannot but GT barrel connectors from what I understand; it’s proprietary. You can do the same thing for the xr stock pad and connector or you can buy one from someone in the VESC community who makes them.
Yes, but the controller lid on the xr is too small to adhere the sensor too. You will need to make a sensor plate to accommodate the sensor. Shoot me a email at beastcoastinli@gmail.com if you’d like. I can send you a few pictures of a sensor plate design 🤙🏼
It’s a GT. You can do this with any board. It’s just a matter of adhering the sensor to a custom sensor plate or a controller box that it will fit on. Feel free to shoot me a message in instagram or face book. I go by Beast Coast Repairs 🤙🏼
