i started my gladiolus indoor and put them out last week, this is my first time trying them. i’m in zone 7B, new york city. I can’t get enough of your channel, you’ve given me so much hope. Thanks a million.

I grow exclusively in grow bags due to sand. I am in Zone 10a/b (literally on zone change line) in Florida (Pinellas County) on the coast. I love my grow bags. Like anything new/ unfamiliar, just takes some time & tweaking. During our dry weather season, which is coming to a close, (I use the 1GPH emitters) and some have on/valves I have to water way more frequently than you would think... sometimes twice a day and then I just adjust the timer watering schedule during our summer monsoon months. Grow bags do dry out more than you think they can even when heavily mulched and watered deeply. I would highly recommend a moisture meter. Having one of those, that has been the game changer for me.

Great idea regarding the pizza pans. It's my first yr with grow bags, I've planted dahlias in some to place in thin spots that have bloomed out. I saw another video on this trick - genius! After seeing this, gladiolas are a must.

Love the thought of gladiolus. You give me too many great ideas! LOL! I had to order the chocolate daro seeds after seeing yours in person. So beautiful and whimsical. I planted so many tulips in pots this year and not one of them bloomed. Some shot up their little green leaves, but then nothing . Ask Kristen to do a guest tutorial for us next season on successful tulip bulb growing. Pizza pans from Dollar Store? Genius! Thanks for all you share and teach, Amanda! Ive got shoots coming up on my glads which i succession planted every couple weeks. I had to place wire baskets over them with rock on top to keep squirrels from digging! Up in zone 6. Love your garden!

I have used the sandwich trays from Chick-fil-A underneath my grow bags. They have lasted several seasons!

I use grow bags all over my garden, I grow peppers, tomatoes, flowers and even dahlias! This was my first time trying the dahlias in the bags. I’m planning on moving them into a shady area during the hottest part of the summer & into the garage for winter. I’m in Houston TX. All my bags are on drip but I’m using the 6in tubing. They are blooming beautifully now, but I think the hard part will be keeping them alive during the summer.

Last year I try them in containers and they bloomed beautifully, it was a mix from lowes, this year I am trying pastel colors from Walmart ❤❤❤, can not wait to see which colors came back and see the new ones 🙂

I enjoy your videos thank so much for sharing all the insight about gardening and cut flower gardens.❤ Do the lilies come back if they are cut down early, I have heard keep the stems until they dry out in the winter to cut to the ground for the next season.

I’ve cut them down each year to about 4-6 inches above the ground … they keep coming back for me!

I used boot trays when I have used grow bags. I could then bottom water about an inch and keep things slightly moist.

I am just south of you and my tulips were a no show. Only one purple parrot variety was good. Daffodils did good. Tulips, muscari, and hyacinth were all duds this year. Very frustrating. Most rotted.

My ranunculus was a dud this year too. I was so disappointed. Even the brand new pink ones I added were a bust.

Question for you ... does one emitter work well for you per container? I have found with my drip irrigation down here in Houston I couldn't get good distribution of the water in the container. Stakes specifically for containers seem to work better for me. They are also adjustable which I really like. (They are not readily available though ... I have gotten mine at Lowe's).

This is my first time, so I don’t know yet! But if it is not enough, then I will add additional emitters … that’s the great thing about drip irrigation!

This is my first time growing them in grow bags but these are intended for cutting for flower arrangements.

So my tulip bulbs did terrible this year....i did plant a little late but they still didnt sprout/bloom well...i did water them though....and i refrigerated them for 4 months

I do not … if I have any worries about them, then I hose them down with water first.

These are 10 gallons but other subscribers have suggested that I use larger ones in the future.

Do you have then outside yet? Mine barely started coming up inside but once I had them out in the warmer weather, they took off … I planted mine over two months ago so it does take awhile.

I have dahlias sprouting in 7 gallon grow bags. The bags don’t seem big enough. It may be an experiment gone wrong.

It’s gladiolus rust … you will need to treat with a pretty strong fungicide.

Hi Amanda, I really love the Bells of Ireland and I was apprehensive about growing them now im going to order some seeds if they grow for you i figure I'll be ok.Glads are one of my most favorite I got bulbs from the dollar store yrs ago and did a whole garden area of just them and I have continued it since.They make fantastic long lasting bouquets too! Always look forward to your videos your information always wonderful!🕊️💚

I swear amanda sometimes i feel like when I plant my stuff in succession ...sometimes it feels like it comes up avoutbthe same time but thats prob because i dont harvest at the proper time ....not enough green in my garden...too much color lol ....im not a good cut flower gardner yet.... Wish i were closer...i need a motivating flower gardner friend like you !!!

I’m not great about harvesting on time either! Try spreading your successions out a little more … aim for every 3-4 weeks!

I’m gardening in Austin, and use grow bags. I’ve found the smaller grow-bags are a no go. All of my plants have struggled and/or died in those. But my 25 gallon ones are awesome!

Hmm, these are definitely smaller so I hope they do okay … if not, I will definitely invest in larger ones!
