To be fair, Karolina, if we tried to explain this to young children or adolescents, they totally wouldn't get it. Maybe a few precocious children might, but for the most part, it's a concept beyond the ability of their developing brains to process. You're actually just at the age when the brain can handle these things.
you are truly used to show the simple beauty of our faith..I experience heaven now when I am aware of Christ in all His creation and recognize my dependance on Him..He transforms those who seek Him..I fight alot with anxiety and depression and I know this is not the faith the very opposite..you help with your naturalness and freshness..I know you take no credit so I thank Christ for you!
Oh No, it is very rare to hear preaching perfect as this video is. Often Christ has been misrepresented to you. Here, on this occasion, Christ has been well represented. There is a difference between false Christianity and true Christianity. It's not politically correct to say this, but if you desire to seek Truth then you need to discern that difference in order to test if Christ is Truth. May your honesty, which is His Spirit, guide you to Truth. Much love to you.
This is Christ's message. That love and living in the Holy Trinity through it are the truest and deepest truths. The Son is the Image of the Father and proceeds from the Father. The Father and Son see the beauty, goodness, truth, and glory of each other. The Father loves the Son, tbe Son returns the Father's love and the Holy Spirit proceeds from both, the living bond of love they share and recieves the love of both Father and Son and returns it to both. This is God, the Holy Trinity. Creation comes forth as God's desire to share His perfect love with us and ultimately Heaven is sharing in that divine life, thus why Charity is the highest of all virtues as it is putting the good of others for their own sake as center and love is willing the good of the other as other, for their own sake. This is why we value Christ's Incarnation and Crucifixion so supremely. God lowered Himself to become like one of His creatures out of love for us. Then we killed Him, but He allowed it, to pay the price His own innate nature of justice demands allowing us to continue to have a relationship with Him and even by that allowing us to share directly in that love, if we allow Him to lead us to doing so. In the Cruxifiction Christ also gave to we who love Him, the supreme example of what the meaning of love is. That is for a man to lay down his life for his friends, self-sacrifice for the betterment of others and their lives. That and having a relationship with God are the spiritual life and why so many practice self-denial to better and more fully enter into that. The hard part is actually doing all this though and why the Church does what She does, that and evangelization since, if God is Goodness, Truth, Beauty, and Love literally, no greater good can we wish than to help others to seek a relationship with Him. God bless you, sir. And I will ask only this. If you ever hear Him calling, listen to Him, because then you will understand what this is all about first-hand. May God allow you and any who read this and need it, this opportunity. I ask this in Jesus Christ's name, the One and Only Lord and Savior of us all. Amen.
@WallMight The evidence for a god from any of the religions, or even theistic interpretations, isn't satisfactory to me but I'm open to the possibility of changing my mind in the future if I gain new information.
I've said the very same thing to a friend of mine , one month ago: this is why, I think is essential that we learn about our vocation . In fact, there is a specific way through which God wishes to be united to us . Yes , of course the Eucharist is the most intimate indwelling of God ; however, we all need to know our place in the world . I don't believe this " pray it all away" attitude, because it fails to encompass the wholeness of a Human being. Thinking of Heaven as a place to go to, can distract us from the present moment and from the bliss of being Human . I don't want to die honestly, I would love to live a purposeful life for all eternity. That in itself is Heaven to me . As silly as this may sounds , I don't think it's fair that we don't get a second shot to live the beautiful things of this life , or even a third and a fourth .... I truly want Heaven to be a physical place , where life goes on and is filled with purpose, learning, challenges and growth . A place where , I can still marvel at the beautiful smile of a woman or the breeze at the fall of winter , the first coffee in the morning , the hug of my mother or the companionship of good friends gathered around a table, while talking about trivialities. I don't know you guys , but I don't want to leave these things behind , but rather to find God through them. However, there is still a need for something Which fills me up and satisfies my deepest longings and that can be achieved only through a relationship with God
I don't know how you do it, I really don't, a gift from God most likely, but the skill you have in wording things and how clearly you present your ideas is amazing and incredible. I love the way you explained everything!
You closing brought to mind the invocation at the start of prayers in De La Salle Christian Brothers schools: “Let us remember that we are in the holy presence of God.”
Thank you so much for this. This has given me a totally new perspective on my Christian faith and life. Such beautiful words of wisdom. Thank you once again.
Thank you so much for this video and all of your videos!!!!! You are making a big difference in my life and my children's lives! God bless you Brother!
I cannot say enough good about this video. Very rarely does Christ agree with every single word of preaching, and so well spoken on such an important topic. I thank you brother, but moreover I thank Christ for this video He has done through you. Much love. Christ be to all.
You are so amazing and I hope to be like you.. You have that charisma that even non-christians may want to listen to you.. God bless on your evangelization to the world...
Mark 10:26And they wondered even more, saying among themselves, “Who, then, can be saved?” 27And Jesus, gazing at them, said: “With men it is impossible; but not with God. For with God all things are possible" I put this as I felt its how to go about receiving virtues, their is nothing of myself that is capable of getting into Heaven. If there was, what is the point of the cross? I ask Mary my Mom to increase Gods love in me everyday to love with her heart since it is love that burns away all of my self love of the world, and self will, however this is so hard i still fail, my preist said to be patient with myself, and that pride and egoism will be a daily battle until the end so if thats the case the question is right, who then can be saved? I like this topic since it is a common way of thinking but since encountering love with Christ Jesus i realised i was only cheating myself and saw all that i was inside passing through this earth bound heart and seeing its ugliness then i could come back to see what God can do and understand the promises of Heaven however again i still fail at getting up and choosing Gods will the struggle is daily so pray for me please as i pray for you, thank you Br Dcn Casey.
Natalia, egoism does not have to be a daily battle. Ego can die, this is the baptism by fire. "John answered, saying unto all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: whose fan in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable." - Luke 3: 16-17 The fan is to fan the flames, to thoroughly purge His floor with fire unquenchable. Wheat and chaff grow within us, side by side, and when we are reborn we must live-out the gathering of wheat and chaff and we must live out the fire which destroys the chaff and purges the floor. He will thoroughly purge it, thoroughly purge. This is why Paul said we died with Christ on the Cross, it is baptism by fire; we must live it out so Paul said "I die daily". It's as Casey said, Heaven is here, we want it for all the right reasons; so why wait? But I want to encourage you that while it's a battle on one level it's also rest. As battle we live by the sword of Truth and die by the sword of Truth, and die daily. Deeper and truer is the rest we enter into, so that the result of resting in Christ is good works which were pre-ordained by Christ for us to walk in; this means the battle is to rest. Let us labor to enter into that rest. Earthly men and women will tell you what a struggle it is, but that is to deny the Power. Do not believe them. When it appears to be a struggle believe Christ that it is finished, believe Paul that it is pre-ordained and that in belief we enter into rest. Do not believe those who deny the Power. "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" - 2Timothy 3: 1-7 Don't believe them! Don't be ever learning never able to come to the knowledge of the Truth. Don't let them keep you laden with sin. Just because they've crept into the house of God does not mean you should believe them. Natalia, it is possible for ego to die, I am living proof. The power is real! Christ is all! I hope this helps, I know this is big, yet it's perfect and it's waiting for you to believe it. Much love. Two refferences for what I've said. "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2: 10 Also, Hebrews chapters 3 and 4 in full.
@@nataliabenoit4653 Thanks for encouraging words. No seminarian for me. Just personal study and worship and prayer, internet, a few reference books, and I devoted most of my time to study for about three years. Now my time is more split between learning and sharing. I have a RU-vid channel "Nicholas Whitmire, Proclaimer Of Messiah" which is off too a good start with some spiritual perspective like I offered here, but so far it's mostly longer videos where I talk to others on livestreams. Mostly, I try to emphasize the realness of spirituality to both Christians and unbelievers... I'm not Catholic FYI. Peace Sister 🧔🏻.
@@nicholas3354 you are a generous soul and any companionship you make will benefit from your companionship with Christ who you reflect. Thank you for going into the world and teaching all He has commanded you. I wish more people were like you but, you give me hope. I too do the same trying to consider every moment how to obtain virtue in every occasion presented to me. One virtue I still cannot comprehend and maybe God hasn't given me the gift of knowledge for it in the Spirit for a reason. Its humility, I don't understand its balance between respect for yourself when encountering abuse or being used or when its appropriate to stand up for yourself as it seems that the virtue would say to not defend yourself. I just dont know or understand that aspect. Since you study as well have you come accross any book on the virtue of humility of what it is and what it is not? Thank you, I promise I wont pick your brain any further good brother. God bless you.
start living it' in our midst rightnow amen🙏,. Priest forever include me to your prayers for the best experience in our lives each day here on earth like it's heavenly.🙏
This is something I've noticed when talking to some people about the "goal" of heaven insinuating that we can get there ourselves, and most of those conversations I've had a really hard time vocalizing that heaven is at hand in Jesus Christ. Thank you for putting it in a way that clearly states the mismanagement of priorities and helps people see Christ and following Christ is a piece of heaven itself especially in the sacraments.
"Not in the dark of buildings confining Not in some heaven light years away But here in this place the new light is shining Now is the kingdom, now is the day Gather us in and hold us forever Gather us in and make us your own Gather us in, all peoples together Fire of love in our flesh and our bones" --the omitted verse
I'm adding this video to my top ten favorites so far. I think watching this video will help me get to heaven more than I would have before watching it. Do I hear an amen?
I really enjoyed hearing you speak of heaven. To be honest I was quite surprised of your explanation because I often hear a criteria to get into heaven I am usually reluctant to hear this type of talk. Praise God for being so generous... I have a really bad attitude sometimes and the question I personally ask myself is, “Why bother?” Since it is so hard to get into, “Why bother?” But as I reflect about Jesus Christ and His love it begins to matter. Perhaps, this is what God is meaning to tell me that Jesus Christ is heaven or that heaven would not be if it were not for Jesus Christ.
I'm not a Christian for the reward of heaven but to become more and more like my savior. Even if there's no heaven it would not change anything for me because of the utter truth of Christ's teaching of love and kindness towards each other. Cause if we follow Jesus, we are making heaven on earth.
Well, I want to get into Heaven, but i also want a taste of it here by doing what God asks of us to love, by doing good deeds. Thank you, although it was kind of confusing by saying we shouldn't want to get into Heaven just taste it here.
100% agree. Only doing what you have to do to get in sounds like once they are in they plan on sinning once in. There are only 2 things you cant do in heaven that you can do on earth. Sin and spread the word. Guess which one we should do while here.
I also like St. Augustine's line. Explaining why Love is the greatest of the virtues (more than hope and faith), he said, in heaven, faith is not necessary because we can see, hope goes away because we are in fulfillment, but love grows stronger.
@@BreakingInTheHabit But what is the love we're talking about here? A warm fuzzy feeling inside? You can't force that feeling..or is it a choice to sacrifice our own desires & needs for the good of others? Maybe "doing what she has to do" is a sacrifice for that woman..a choice to do what's expected of us if we want to follow Jesus.
I have trouble with this, though I do accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior: I think back to my school days, when kids would bully other kids into the ground, then keep kicking them. Those kids that got bullied usually had it tough at home and at school and end up with serious problems and often do not believe in God because of what they've been through, while the bullies usually just look back and say yeah I was a bully I'm sorry and move on with their lives and are more likely to turn to God in their later years. It wears heavy on my heart that while some people really do their best to live like Jesus, others barely try. Yes we all sin, but why would a bully not accept Jesus as Lord and savior in order to get to heaven, then knowing they're going to heaven just sin on purpose because they know there are no reprocusions? Thank you for sharing this video brother, God bless you.
In Matthew 25, Jesus also warns about separating the sheep from the goats. Faith without works is dead. Deeds matter. Feed the poor or be damed. Obviously we all fall short of the glory of God and Salvation is merited by Jesus’ death and resurrection. However, we are not once saved always saved. We are saved by Grace through faith and not faith alone.
Bridgette Poitras Yes, of course our works matter. But the question is where do they matter? As St Paul reminds us many times, we are not justified by the works of the law but by faith. No action on our part can earn salvation; no good work can save us. Rather, it is by God’s grace that we are saved, and our faith, which issues forth in works (because true faith leads to action) that ultimately accepts this gift.
You are leading people astray... Matthew 15:13-14 KJV 13 "But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch!"
An intellectual tour de force by Br. Casey, but also inspiring with practical spiritual advice. Br. Casey’s career choice, to evangelize, was clearly the correct one and we all are the beneficiaries of his choice. There was an additional problem I had with the woman’s answer about doing what you have to do to get into heaven. It seemed somewhat self-centered. Her motivation was what would benefit her by securing her place in heaven. Everything else including God is secondary
Definitely. Especially within the context, which I could get into, she was basically talking about fulfilling acts she was "supposed to do" despite not wanting to do them and not caring about the people she was doing them with/to. It kind of missed the point of doing works of mercy and love!
@@BreakingInTheHabit I wouldn't be too harsh on her attitude. Not everyone embraces the cross with a cherry step and a big thank you. For most human beings the 'good life' does not come naturally; which is why we need supernatural grace. It's real nice when God asks someone to embrace a healthy body, sound mind, and sufficient riches to meet their needs. Not so good when He chooses a much different path for some. I can actually applaud her. God says to her 'this is my will'; and despite the fact she might not enjoy it she will trudge ahead and do it because God asked her. I agree it is wrong if you view God as a super rich Bill Gates; so you only do good for the perks and not to grow in relationship with God. However not everyone has the time, money , or skill to get a sponsored hiatus from life and get a theology degree. I do not know this particular woman; but I know enough plain folk who see the target, were told by 'the church' this is how you get to the target; so they dig their feet in, point their head that way and plod on. Do what you got to do to get to heaven. I can live by that.
@@39knights I agree, I struggle a lot with "doing what we have to do"..I'm not a people person or a naturally positive or happy person like some people are so I struggle with the Christian life..even though our salvation isn't earned we do have to live good lives to get to heaven but it's not as easy for some to be all cheerful & pleasant about it as it is for others, we all have different crosses to bear..I think there is more merit in someone "doing what they have to do" even though they find it really hard as apposed to someone who is naturally full of joy & finds it easy to deal with people & practice charity. I think we have to give this woman the benefit of the doubt as we don't know what her personal struggles are & sometimes there's a lot more going on with people then they even know how to express themselves...sorry for rambling :-D
The hope of the Christian is not "heaven", but the bodily Resurrection upon Christ's return. God will bring all things into focus in Christ with a New Heaven and New Earth. This is the time when Jesus will come back, take up His throne and make all things right (judgment). I recommend "Surprised by Hope" by Bishop N.T. Wright. He is an Anglican theologian, but I know for a fact that many Catholics have found hope in his theology. His sermons & lectures are all over RU-vid, but he has written more than 50 books. He is full of God's Spirit, no doubt.
I sure wish my Priest would tell me this! He cannot tell me that even if I do EVERYTHING IN MY CATHOLIC FAITH PERFECTLY - that I am NOT going to end up in Purgatory or GOD FORBID HELL!!!
Thanks be to God!...great insight....but one fraternal correction brother....maybe another vid on practicing the Virtues as outlined by St. Thomas...instead of "Mantra"
I don't understand what you are correcting or what St. Thomas (Aquinas?) has to do with this. A mantra is simply statement or slogan that people repeat to focus them.
Father Casey, after listening to this (and some of your other videos), you would make a great Independent Foot Washing Baptist. You are not far from it.
Father Casey you are a bright young man but this video is confusing. John 3-16. Is our salvation message. I enjoy mass and Holy Communion but we must accept the gift of Eternal life.
Eternal life is given through God's grace and mercy because of our faith in Jesus Christ period , once you recieve this grace the sanctification process begins through the Holy Spirit which produces the good works and love that is pleasing to God, without full faith in Jesus Christ and what he accomplished on the cross there is no grace , we are all sinners and through faith we are imputed the righteousness of Jesus Christ, 2Corinthians 5:21, "He [God] made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." Here we have a double imputation. God imputed our sins to Christ who knew no sin. And God imputed his righteousness to us who had no righteousness of our own. when God looks at the cross he sees us when he looks at us he sees Jesus Christ because we have received the righteousness of Jesus Christ through our faith , James 2:24 is speaking of the good works that justify faith not good works to justify salvation , big difference many get confused , all believers will be judged for their works whether good or bad 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Peace be with all, I pray everyone enjoys the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
You didn't mention grace. (Without Jesus we can do nothing.) Jesus said, " If you wish to be My disciples, take up your cross and follow Me." We must cooperate with Christ's grace if we wish to join Him in eternity. This is what I read from a Fr. John Hardon S.J. You might like his writings. Anyway I have met people, even Catholics, who tell me, just be kind to one another and that's enough. It takes more as you said. But we need to ask for grace to do God's will.
1. I explicitly mentioned grace twice. 2. But really, what is grace? Grace is the gift of God's very self. In this way, most of this video is about grace.
I've always thought that Heaven would be just like earth, but without sin. A world just like earth, but where nobody ever lies to eachother, nobody ever is jealous or greedy or gluttonous or lustful or slothful or wrathful or prideful, and indeed a world where I am perfectly cured of those ugly things within myself. Heaven, in this idea, would be just like earth if Satan never tempted Adam and Eve. This idea of heaven would be an improvement on the Garden of Eden, because the people there would be the ones who chose to live like that, rather than the ignorance of Adam and Eve. People in Heaven would be people with wisdom from knowing how the world is in it's fallen state. There is greater beauty in those who overcame their sinful nature than there is in those who never had it in the first place, and that beauty is what heaven is if I'm right.
Anyone can say they believe in god . Jesus E.t.c but proving it is Another matter in order To receive salvation you have to endure to the end constantly doing good dismissing all the. Bad . Even if life is not good you still have to continue living as a good Christian and maintaining your faith Till the end.
Why do catholics leave the church having never read the bible, or that so many protestants think you need sacraments to get into heaven? I just want to better understand how these things could have happened
As someone who suffers from extreme low self esteem & confidence & is pretty much socially inept, I have to say I struggle to put this way of thinking/living the faith into practice..no matter how much I pray, go to mass or try to be "good" as soon as I have to deal with another actual human being I fall into an emotional and spiritual black-hole which makes me think that my faith is not genuine at all..Also watching this video makes me wonder if this teaching may confuse some people into thinking that even if they don't do any good works that it doesn't matter as they'll get to heaven anyway..can't we by our choices & actions (by turning away from God) lose Heaven? Can't "doing what we have to do" be just another way of saying what you say in the video?
I know what you mean. I've struggled with the same problem. Have you ever thought you may have a form of social anxiety disorder? If so, it is not a sin, nor does it indicate a lack of faith on your part. God knows all about these things. Many of the great saints probably had psychological disorders but God turned their weakness into opportunities to show His strength. This doesn't mean, though, that we shouldn't avail ourselves ourselves of professional help. Modern psychology is gift He has given to to our world. Also I think part of the problem we all have is a tendency to confuse faith and joy with feelings and emotions. There is a narrative that tells us that if we were close to God we'd be feeling it all the time. But feelings come and go. Feelings don't always mean what we think they mean. Just plugging away at it when we don't feel like it is itself a sign of faith. Finally, know that God loves you. I hope this helps. God bless you.
Thanks for your comment. You're probably right but I just find it so hard to understand how it could be God's will that I am like this or how I am supposed to deal with it & still be a good Catholic Christian..God bless you.
OK so heaven is not out there someplace and I'm not trying to trip you up but the fourth glorious mystery says our lady was assumed body and soul into heaven as was Jesus so ..... Where did they go? Just one of those questions that an old man thinks about while pondering the world. Love your stuff, with people like you there is hope for our church.
I think you might be misinterpreting what I'm saying. I'm not saying that heaven isn't a place; I'm saying that heaven isn't a place disconnected from our reality here. When we start to think of it as distant and completely otherwordly, like it were hidden in the sky, we miss the point. Then again, we don't want to get too literal here. God is immaterial, outside of space and time. To live in God means that heaven truly isn't a place, it is a state of being. Whenever we start to think that heaven is a place, as in the places here on earth, we are misunderstanding heaven.
@@BreakingInTheHabit But doesn't Christ still have a material form, even if it is impassible, subtle, agile, and clear? Also, the Blessed Mother wouldn't have a glorified body yet, as in the spiritual bodies that the elect will be given at the Second Coming, or would She?
@@nathan3023 The material form of the resurrected body is different, as it "passes through doors" and yet "eats." There are powerful meanings to these words from the various gospels to explain the empty tomb. I think this also gives an understanding of how "the saints can hear our petitions [prayers - sic] and bring them before the throne of grace. The veil between heaven and earth is thin. At baptism we begin the process of living in "eternal life" (heaven/kingdom in our midst) which death brings to fruition. Along the way our eternal life is [we are] nourished by the heavenly food of holy communion, commissioned to "go" [missa = sent] to be the body of Christ in the world.
Why people say homosexuals go to hell?! If they believe in god, don’t that mean they can still get into Heaven? I don’t think a loving god judges people for being homosexual, but why others say this?
There is nothing anyone can do to earn their salvation, and it is definitely not just a matter of believing in God. Jesus says in Matthew “not everyone who says Lord, Lord, will enter the Kingdom of God but only those who do the will of my father.” In Matthew 25, he makes it clear that those who fail to serve the poor will not go to heaven. Actions are more important than beliefs. That said, our God is merciful, and so those with a contrite heart can be forgiven.
I'm afraid of going to hell because if christianity is true and I find out that most people are in hell, I won't have enough love for god in my heart to get into heaven...
I find it hard to respect anyone who teaches/preaches that the redeemed go to heaven when they die. They don't. And the Bible doesn't say that they will.
Is this "heaven is a relationship" thing what the church fathers believed or did they believe in a place heaven? I personally dont like this world and am glad that I will not be here forever.
Everything which is good comes from God and it's God that works His Will through mankind in fact Christ the incarnation of God became Man one of us and He pours out Sanctifying Grace within us that Sanctifying Grace is Christ as Christ stated He is the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the Father except through Him. He connects God to mankind the only reason why mankind can be in Heaven with God is because of Christ. As Heaven exists within us by Sanctifying Grace which is spiritual life. It's sin caused by our own selfish desires which separates mankind from God as the elect walk amongst us so does the damned without Sanctifying Grace within there is a spiritual death so if Heaven can be found within ourselves and surrounds us so does Hell the Devil is not in some fare off place he wanders the Earth seeking the ruin of souls. I'm all for the positive lesson you have taught Father but people should also be taught that darkness also exists which opposes the light.
I'm not aware of any official significance other than practical ones: they sound nice and are easily heard from far distances, allowing for people all around town to hear them.
When the mass was recited in Latin by the priest and the assisting ministers (and in a time of no microphones!) the bells were used as "cues" to get the people's attention to the Eucharistic Prayer and at the time for Holy Communion. I'm afraid that praying to Mary is idolatry i don't go to heaven because of that...i'm afraid i go to hell because i don't help people as i should...I'm afraid to go hell because i wish material things as a gorgeous big house all for myself😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Also, if you will note the language I used, I never called this woman a heretic or said that what she was saying is necessarily heretical. I said, "it flirts pretty close to heresy." It all depends on what was intended by the phrase, but it certainly leads one pretty close to it.
I agree, however, that does make it appear as though you are hugging the line on semantics, which doesn't quite help get the point across. Just food for thought. Not that I buy into Catholicism, just an outside spectator gleaming wisdom. Keep up the good work.
We can reject our salvation, yes. We can be given the free gift and sin against the Holy Spirit. But we cannot do anything that would force God to remove the invitation. Even as a sinner, even doing horrible things, God, in his mercy, can still forgive us and offer us salvation.
@@BreakingInTheHabit but what about all those verses about, those who do not do the will of my father, or the Luke warm etc. Will not inherit the kingdom of god
@@Daniel_Abraham1099 No, likely not. But again, I'm simply reiterating the very important point that we do not control our salvation. We can deny that gift or fail to receive it, but we cannot force it. Think of it through this analogy. There is a train taking us somewhere. The price is too high that we could never buy it. Only Jesus has enough money to buy us a ticket, and he either chooses to buy it for us or not. We cannot convince his either way, but he offers it to us all. That being said, we can still choose not to get on the train or to rip up the ticket. Action is important on our part (getting on the train and using the ticket) but only in the form of accepting the gift, not in earning the gift.
