This video shows the construction of one of the 31 foundations that will support the wind turbines at the San Roman Wind Farm (Texas). These 3m-deep and 21m-diameter structures create a solid base for the giant machines whose blades reach almost 500 feet high.

Cheaper to go wide and not worry about sprawl then it is to go deep and anchor to bedrock ..

I am not complete fan of renewables, but wind, hydro and nuclear are by far the 3 lowest CO2 emmitents per MWh produced from all energy sources.

Depends on the size of the farm and the number of equipment used. On a job with about 80 Acciona turbines. They'll burn about 1-1.5k gal of diesel a day. While a job of 100 Vestas turbines will burn through 2k a day. Solar farms are a lot more efficient on fuel consumption because there is a LOT less equipment being used.

I used to cnc machine those big rings they put on the rebar to hold it into the circle the cnc process to just drill the holes on those 20ft round rings is 10 to 12 hours and electricity wise its $450/hour to run the cnc machine.
