They don't cover modern topics because the info on those conflicts would be wrong. 10 years from now portions of this video will (most likely) be inaccurate. This is mostly due to the fact that most of the information about the Ukraine war is top secret and is unknown to the general public not to mention the only information we do get is from the government and is also often altered from the truth.

We wanted to make sure we covered the war with a delay (only talking about 2022 events) so that we can give at least some time for the information to settle. Interesting enough Ukraine gave up its nukes in the 90’s. Only on the condition that both the east and west would guarantee not to interfere with their borders.
Sadly this is so. And Ukraine was attacked by a country that promised to defend Ukraine. And the US did not help Ukraine in 2014. Pity the Ukrainians who exchanged their nuclear shield for the useless promises of politicians and bureaucrats. Moreover, some of our politicians think that we should stop helping Ukraine, hearing their words makes me furious. Instead of increasing the scarce aid to Ukraine, some hypocrites and egoists demand it be stopped and Ukraine be left at the mercy of a dictator. The world is beginning to lose confidence in the pacts and agreements because they are not respected.
So? Ukraine wouldn’t have been able to do anything with them. To begin with, they weren’t Ukraine’s nukes, they were the USSR’s, and in any case they would have never been able to use them bc the codes were always in Moscow. Fun Fact, Russia would have detonated those nukes if they were still in Ukraine. They could have just said that Ukrainians were messing with the missiles and they blew up accidentally.
@@Jnivella ... so? The original comment is relevant because Russia broke their promise. What relevance did your comment have? That the nukes were useless to them anyway? Who cares. Russia still respected Ukraines borders & promised not to mess with them & then proceeded to invade them later on.
For some it may sound stupid, but for me in Ukraine to hear "conflict" is just heart breaking. War is so much more than just a conflict. It's like in 1939 Germany started just a conflict, not a war, that became a world war just a bit later. Every day hear air raid sirens and very often some explosions, when glass in my windows are vibrating. It's not a conflict for me
As someone who’s from Ukraine, it’s crazy to think that my kids one day will learn about this war in their history classes and ask me about it. We are living history people.
Sorry, but if the war ends and both sides are at peace, this would not be taught in any history class except for in Russia or Ukraine. This is simply because Ukraine is a poor country, nothing to offer the world. So it's fall would not do much to Europe or the world. That is unless the Ukraine war is the start of a chain reaction. Other than that, it would most likely be forgotten in the future. The only thing interesting in this war would be to see how military operations would be carried out in modern warfare.

There's very few channels that can provide information and discussion of a modern war, let alone an ongoing on, in such a clear, non bias, and informative way. This is why you're the best history channel on this site, I will eagerly wait until next year for your follow-up vid on this conflict.
This is already extremely biased right from the get go. It did not "start" with annexation of Crimea, CIA/Obama administration supported the coup de tat` during Maidan Protests and started arming/funding far right-wing neo nazi militias in Ukraine such as Azov Battalion and Right Sektor. They did not want the pro-russian Yanukovich to win the elections because he was very popular. The west did was it always does and interfered and sewn conflict and that eventually led to the Odessa Federal Building Massacre in which ukrainian militias and civilians firebombed a building full of russian-speaking ukrainians, killing women (some of which were pregnant) and men, any survivors were shot or strangled or were forced to leap to their deaths from the windows. This is all documented, recorded by video and photos by the way. After the massacre pro-russian militias started popping up everywhere and a resistance formed against the neo-nazi militias, in which Russia supported, THEN Crimea WILLINGLY joined Russia without firing a shot, they were welcomed with open arms, Crimea did not want to be part of the western puppet nazi country of Ukraine. And now we are where we are..

In 20 years a kid will be watching this video to research a school project on this war. It's both sad and amazing that we get to live through such a big historical event
Maybe for europeans an americans its both sad and amazing but for ukrainians its tragedy becouse every day russian rockets kill innocent people and every day people lose their relatives. Аnd recently the russians created an environmental disaster in the Kherson region by blowing up the Kakhovskaya HPP. Thousands of people lost their homes, and elderly people who could not swim drowned, and the russians do not give permission for evacuation. There is even a video of a Ukrainian drone giving a bottle of water to people who are forced to sit on roofs due to a flood. And the most disgusting thing in my opinion in this situation is that the UN celebrated the day of the Russian language on the day when it all happened. Why then was the UN created if not to protect the environment and human rights? It is very unfortunate that I (and many other children and teenagers) lose childhood in constant fear while the russians rejoice at every death of Ukrainians
@@CaptainFritz28 Putin made his motives abundantly clear well before the war. I recommend watching speeches his over the years about Ukraine, this war shouldn't surprise anyone.
I half agree. While this war does showcase a lot modern tech, it also shows a war between 2 near-peer enemies forced to resort to mostly-static attritional warfare. In Western military doctrine wars should be as swift as possible using their massive superiority of force, and I feel that should taken into account.

He does not state Russia's version of why it launched the special operation, he does not say that Ukraine outnumbered Russia, he does not say that only military facilities were hit, he does not talk about the version refuting the massacre in Buchinsky, that millions of people left because of mobilization in Ukraine.
@@vanfloke Russia was only using contactors and PMC Wagner, while Ukraine had a full mobilization, mercs and NATO "volunteers" legion. Russian partial mobilization was a precaution measure. The Ukrainian infrastructure was targeted much later into the conflict. Before that, it was only military targets.
It is worth mentioning that on the ground the invasion of Crimea (invasion of Russian military men) had started on February 20th, 2014. Yanukovych fled Ukraine on February 22d. It is the undeniable truth that Yanukovych betrayed Ukraine playing his part in diligently orchestrated "separatism". Putin, later that spring, was honouring his military men involved in Crimea's annexation with the medal created for that occasion that read "for return of Crimea" dated February 20th, 2014.
Its finny think tany starting genocide and ethical cleansing in Ukraine by prowestern Hunta Politicians that took power during the Maydan and became persecuting those who weren't agreed with their unlawful taking power. The events in Odessa's massacre in 2014 - in which Parliament the proRussian peaceful protesters unarmed were burned alive by proNAZI banderas' followers and radicals as bandits and starting ATO (or so-called "counter terroristic operation" killing separatists in Donbass and Lugansk - bombing unarmed civilians and killing women, elders and children who are prorussian speakers by right radicals from neo-Nazi battalions "Azov" and "Aydar"). So the Minsky agreement was the last try to stop such a massacre, with all the territories are returned to the Ukraine (proRussian separatists and Russian forces agreed to stop fire, but the Ukrainian government didn't want to see it and with the support from HQ from London, France and Germany, NATO alliance not to follow these agreements continued firing peaceful citizens there). So the result was the Special Operation - to establish the government in Ukraine that can really provide the safety of proRussian and Ukrainian population there in reality and stop the influence of NATO there which really should go away from there. So the course of President Putin is quite clear for the population and a supportive one: "the denazification and demilitarisation of Ukraine"

So many things skewed and wrong about this. 1) The Minsk II Agreements were signed between Ukraine and the DPR/LPR, Russia, Germany and France were guarantors. 2) You forgot to mention that the US financed the government coup in 2014 and installed its own neonazi client regime into power. 3) How is it violent to give Crimeans Russian passports if they WANTED to be Russian part of Russia? 4) Why did you skip the violence and murder of civlians by the Ukrainian banderite regime from 2014 to 2022? 5) Before the Russians brought their troops to the Ukrainian border, 60 000 Ukrainian troops were called up to the DPR/LPR borders in November/December 2021, as a direct breach of Minsk II. You also did NOT mention that the Ukraine started massive shelling of Donetsk and Lugansk in mid February 2022, thus prompting the Republics to formally ask Russia for help in defending them, which Russia granted. Russia has tried for 8 years to make Ukraine and the warmongering west implement Minsk, but to no avail. As Merkel and Hollande recently said in interviews, the 8 year pause between Minsk II and the current war was never meant to be implemented by the west but instead was used to pump Ukraine full on NATO weapons, train Ukrainian troops to NATO standards, etc. to make them violently retake Crimea, Donbass and Lugansk. 6) Russia has never attacked the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, that is complete and utter bullcrap. All of these attacks were done by Ukraine. 7) Humanitarian corridors in Mariupol were ONLY opened when the Russians got there. The Azov banderites wouldn't let anyone leave as they were using people as human shields. There is ample eyewitness evidence for this. In fact, the azov banderites EXECUTED a lot of local citizen and actually fired upon residential buildings themselves on many occasions.
1. Surkov's leaks perfectly show that pseudo-republics and Russia are one and the same. Russia is a de facto participant in the Minsk process. 2. There is no evidence for this. There are no nationalists in the Ukrainian parliament for 9 years. 3. People who want Russian passports can go to Russia to get them and live there. 4. He also missed the killings and violence by the separatists. 5. At a time when the entire professional army of Russia is on the Ukrainian borders, Ukraine, very conveniently, decides to return the east by force. 6. Russia fired at Zaporozhye from the territory of the nuclear power plant. 7. Human shield tactics don't work against Russians because they don't care about civilians. AZOV was 1/6 of the defenders of the city, several other formations come from this city, they would have questions if this happened.

And the initial attacks on Bakhmut, a small city which still stands 9 months later despite Ukraine only holding 10% of the city.
It was reduced to 10% after 9 months. It was completely under Ukrainian control at the start. Bakhmut is part of a fortified line in the Donbass (Ukraine had 8 years to fortify the area) and a large portion of Ukraine's army have been concentrated in and around Bakhmut.
