I mean,, they could cast Will Smith as the Navy FA-18 Fighter Pilot Captain Steven Hiller, who shoots down the Alien fighter and drags him to be studied by Dr. Okun at Area 51, and Jeff Goldblum as the MIT satellite engineer/tech expert David Levinson who discovers the hidden Alien signal countdown and comes up with the virus. They would be amazing on screen together, wouldn't they? Smith flying the recovered Alien spacecraft back up to the Mother Ship and docking while Goldblum uploads the virus! Epic stuff! (It almost writes ITSELF!) Hell, they could even cast Randy Quaid as the eccentric, alcoholic former fighter pilot and Vietnam War veteran Russell Casse, and give him some witty catchphrase to say just before flying his FA-18 "Up Theirs." 👍🤣 Just imagine, Bill Pullman as the former Gulf War veteran fighter pilot turned President Thomas J. Whitmore, rallying the Nation and eventually the World against the invaders! He could even give a super inspirational speech about how they're all now, in a way, fighting for their Independence all over again, only this time instead of it being just one Nation fighting against tyranny or oppression, it's the entire Planet fighting together against annihilation! I've got it ALL figured out lol the entire cast! It might be the most difficult one,, but for the unkempt and highly excitable scientist in charge of research at Area 51, Dr. Brackish Okun, they could try to get Brent Spiner! Imagine Data from Star Trek TNG with long, stringy hair because they don't let him out much lol a little comic relief at a few necessary moments in the plot. Crap, I'm suddenly realizing I should have kept this to myself, now someone's probably going to steal MY idea! I Gotta go... ✌

This movie is still a gem. I was pretty disappointed with the sequel, honestly.

It's cool how humanity reversed engineered the alien technology and started using it

They should've at least had an easter egg showing our computers came from reverse engineered alien tech from a crashed craft in the 50s, would've made the whole software virus thing a lot more sense.

If you read the book of this movie. Gives you a lot of detail on the war negative results.

Decided to watch random Templin video on ID. Usual intro. And then smacked over the head bt hearing a voice other then Larissas. Oh my. I must've been away for a while.

Basically mandatory watching on July 4th. Oh so you got to love how the aliens did all of this reconnaissance and targeted military bases and yet left one of the most famous military bases in the world alone for some reason until it posed a direct threat lol

Could you do the world of "Battle LA" ? Don't know how much lore is behind it , but it would be cool.

Resurgence was pretty to look at, with a lot of cool tech and interesting ideas. It could have been such an amazing movie. And the end of the movie /was a doorway to the entire universe. Unfortunately, the writers Mary Sued the entire human species, giving China an extra polish, and put them in charge of the fucking resistance again the harvesters because...uh... reasons.

I remember this came out when I was on deployment in the Persian Gulf on USS Carl Vinson. I managed to get a bootleg copy on VHS when we stopped in Muscat, Oman. Sure, it was of meh quality but better than nothing. I even shared it with the ships TV station so the crew could have a new release to watch instead of the usual rotation of watching Full Metal Jacket and Friday.

Too bad independence day sequel was really bad. The movie's universe had alot of potential for expansion and story telling

"Welcome to Earth!" A classic immortal line. This was good back in the day. But now, in what I envision, I like to see how various sci fi factions like those from Starcraft, HALO, and Warhammer 40k fighting these aliens. That could be awesome and epic.

If Independence Day Resurgence didn’t fail as a film, this could’ve been an epic franchise. I will always see this what it could’ve been. Not just a popcorn flick disaster film, but a full on universe that should not be forgotten.

After the movie came on 6 times the other day, I realized the original plot of the Harvesters was far better than their motives in ID4-2. In the original movie, they were after the entire planet, colonizers who basically wrecked the planet, bleeding it dry of everything, then moving on, that's why they wanted an Earth like planet because they were out to live here even if it was only temporarily. In the second movie, they wanted to steal Earth's core which makes no since whatsoever. All the materials in the core can be found in space far easier, and cheaper, and even if that is what they wanted, with their shields they could have landed one ship, got the core and left. It would have taken nearly half as long and required none of the vulnerabilities a full scale, long term assault opened them up too.

You guys could narrate a conflict between the Rice Crispy Elves and the Keebler Elves and make it epic. Great work, love this channel.

What's sad is that truly is one of the few ways mankind will ever truly unite 😔

Imagine a super advance alien technology just to be defeated by a high-school grade virus

I work at the decommissioned El Toro airfield sometimes, the munitions building has been converted into a food bank. I thought it was kinda cool to see my city get attacked by aliens, even though it was only the base. For whatever reason the movie had the base in the middle of the desert instead of the middle of densely populated Southern California

Little did we know back then, that the aliens where simply trying to spare the universe from the impending release of the movie, Batman and Robin, only a year later.
