War Thunder [SIM|VR] - Zero's are Scary (J2M2 vs ✪A6M2)

I never would have shot down that Zero without the teammates. I had a clear energy advantage at the beginning but he kept closing in on me. I tried to energy fight him at some point (I should have done that from the start, I know...) but he wouldn't stall, of course: it was a Zero :)
The teammate in an A6M5 should have had the kill but I guess he ran out of ammo. Thx to him!
Edit: In the rush of the fight I forgot to change the supercharger back to stage 1 when the fight got low, that's why I had so little power... I changed it but way too late. In this particular case it didn't turn out that bad as he overshot me when I (tried to) dove away :) In the J2's, having the wrong supercharger near the deck is almost like being idle...

I can confirm since I love flying Zeros and have been able to do 4v1 to clutch matches (in rb of course). Zero is hard to flat spin in sim too from my experience so that's nice.

Well he just happened to have the most manœuvrable aircraft in a dogfight.. It's more its opponents mistaking than him well doings

@@louislecigne1066 but 3 enemies mean 3 AOA on you, the one being chase just need to wiggle and other 2 fly out and comeback with 2 AOA, he must be very lucky or skilled to advoid being shot by 2.

Great video. 'Murican quality Zero seems to soak up damage nicely. If it was me, I would've turned into a fireball already. 3:03 shows the terror of having a Zero on your tail really well. Too bad we got rice grains for bullets haha Also, my respect for that Zero, he did well. A name to look out for!

Excellent, it usually takes a zero to kill a zero but you did well. Enjoyed that game last night in War Thunder with you, sorry I wasnt using chat much but its a PITA in VR having to take it off to type all the time. Just popped in to see how things were and take a break from the intensity in IL2.....and because I was missing my zero :)

Thx man! I made many mistakes during that fight (I forgot to change the supercharger back to stage 1 and I should have energy fought only from the get go) but I learn from them, that's nice. As for the chat it is temporary unavailable due to the recent events, apparently the mods couldn't keep up with all the political talk...

@@ATC83 lol should have guessed the chat would be censored at the moment. I was struggling with buttons a s I use a totally different set up for IL2 as I need to use joy-to-key .....and couldnt remember the buttons I had assigned in WT. Kept pressing the wrong damn button every time.

When I'm playing against the Japanese, my most feared apponents, are usually the KI-100, ki-84, or the Japanese Coursair.

I didn't use the Ki-100 much and I don't have the Japanese Corsair but the Ki-84 (especially the 30mm one) is an absolute beast. Definitely in the top 3 of my favourite planes in the whole game

@@ATC83Besides the 109s optional 30mm strap on pods, and 30mm nose cannon, which I'm not really a fan off, Iv never actually flown a Aircraft with fixed 30mm cannons in the wings. Are the Japanese 30s reasonable easy to get on target?

@@beat89widmer26 Oh yeah they are lasers for cannons of that caliber. I use the tracer belt which have half the explosive charge compared to the steath belt but a much higher muzzle velocity (920 m/s against 710 m/s) and it is more than powerful enough. A couple questions! 1. What VR headset do you use? 2. Do you get a real sense of height and flight while playing War Thunder, with the VR headset on?

I use an Oculus Rift S but I'm saving for a Reverb G2 which has a much better resolution. Yeah you get a real sense of height, distances and planes appear in real life size. It's awsome!

Thx man! I play with joystick, throttle and since recently rudder pedals. Having many hours in the game I can "sense" when I'm about to spin and prevent it most of the time. Avoid brutal elevator maneuvers if you can as they often cause spins

@@0zp343 You have to pull hard sometimes but when you notice that your plane wants to "drop a wing" and is unstable you're at the limit. Be very gentle with the elevator in that case. Flaps can help you turn tighter too but be careful as they will slow you down a lot, only use them for a short time.

@@ATC83 Yea I usually stop holding S since that is my pitch-up key when I start feeling the shake of the cockpit. I think for me it's just hard to look around while aiming since my view follows where my mouse goes.

@@0zp343 My advice to you is to buy a joystick, even a cheap one, no need to buy some fancy stuff, at least at first. You'll have way more sensitivity over your controls. You can go further when your cockpit shakes but not much. The line is fine between the best turn and a spin.

Yeah I made many mistakes during that fight, the biggest one being to forgot to set the supercharger back to stage 1 when then fight got low. I'm almost always playing Japan so I'm not used to fight Zeros and I was genuinely scared :)
