I love these knowledgable youtube warriors, picking on the slightest point to make a world-changing point while missing the point altogether, LOL. Try and get the point,????.
Anytime somebody calls Joan of Arc a fighter I cringe, Joan was not a combatant according to her own testimony during her trial, she waved a banner and provided a religious icon to help unify the French, she didn't fight.
Dr Elshtain as a historian writing about war should know that there were NO Nazis in the First World War as she stated in her first comment when referring to Joan of Arc as a propaganda figure, straight away she lost credibility in my opinion. The “order of the white feather” was a shameful thing to do, as the narration said they sometimes, probably more incorrectly than not, were wrong, in addition to the reasons stated there was also reserved occupation, disabilities, religious grounds, and probably most importantly pacifism, which might have been despised then it isn’t now, I must have been truly difficult to stand up for your beliefs, pacifism was and is a long way from cowardice, in my opinion cowardice doesn’t exist, not everyone is born the same, some people just aren’t built to fight, as with other “morally objectionable” traits we can’t be anything other than what we are. Linda Kitson should realise that war is ad-hoc, any plan is only any good until you engage the enemy, and as for being basic, brutal and savage THATS WAR, she wasn’t really there, not in the sense of being right up on the front lines, she wouldn’t have been allowed and would have been with the other REMFs, of course she would not have been totally safe, but safer than facing an Argie carrying an FN rifle with a magazine of 20 death rounds. Call me old fashioned but I don’t believe that any media people should be allowed on the frontlines unless they also carry a weapon, it shouldn’t be down to combat soldiers to protect reporters etc whilst they are trying to not get killed themselves, as far as I am concerned men and women can be combat personnel, if they can pass the training then they are capable of fighting a war, but one minor point, everyone should have to pass the same course, not one set of goals for men and another for women, that’s equality. Journalists etc DO put themselves at risk, but, as it stands, that’s their decision, and if they get captured, injured, or, worst, killed THATS their decision. A very interesting, and thought provoking documentary, thanks for sharing. 😀👍🇬🇧🏴
Dj Phantom, I think if you read her more carefully, She mentioned The first world war and then mentioned the Nazis, as two conflicts. She didn't put them together.
