Yeah it's mostly meant for those Who actually know about warcraft lore. I have some friends who doesn't know it but they still liked the movie. Critics suck, some gave the DragonBall Z live action movie 4/5 while giving Warcraft 1/5 :D

There's nothing else to do. Blizzard helped develop the movie, it was based on a canon storyline. If the critics don't like it, they're going to hate game movies no matter what we do. Pariah and proud.

well, competetively sc is better because you got 3 fully different races, in wc3 everything is mostly the same but hotkeys and unit designs

That's easy to fix. Unit design and purpose changed drastically between 2 and 3, so there's no reason for it not to change more between 3 and 4. 2 was literally the exact same stats on different unit models with race-specific spells. Warcraft has 4 races, so the opportunities for growth and variability are even greater, not including all of the races they added in wow. Alien species get bland after a few because there's only so many spaceship designs you can have and the only other option is zerg-like. Fantasy has infinite variability. Thinking of different play-styles for each of those infinite variations would be hard, but it would be easier than thinking of a way to make the sixth species of ship-using aliens look different from the last.

I'd say it's the other way around, SC is more competitive precisely because the races are far more homogenous.

its about variability. If there are multiple builds to use, figuring out each one is a valuable experience. If you go too homogenous you have wc 2, where all races feel the exact same and the builds are linear with very little variation. Getting people to put in the time to become competitive is more important than having a perfectly even playing field at the end because you'll get more people to the point of being competitive, which will in turn create more popularity which brings more people...etc. The more variables, the more exciting it is when you figure out how to get to that point. RU-vid might kill that aspect, but it is still a point for those that don't research winning builds.

I felt the same way about the Ratchet and Clank movie. It did terribly at the box office and critics freaking roasted it, but I liked it and other fans I spoke to liked it. Unfortunately, all the negative press could spell trouble for the other movies developers have planned (i.e. The Last of Us, Uncharted, etc.)

I saw it today and can personally say its... ok I guess? On the one hand they left out a lot of stuff and just ignored some things, like demoted Grom Hellscream to a extra and had Dalaran floating when that didn't happen till way later. (some of which really couldn't have been avoided considering so much lore is interconnected that a coherent narrative would probably have to start with the beginning of Azeroth) But on the other hand we got one glorious second of Murloc on the big screen so all is forgiven. Live action was defiantly a mistake though.

It fucked up the lore in a lot of generic way. Presenting: - New Stormwind and Flying Dalaran for players of WoW, who never actually touched the first three strategy games or played them blind. - Moses story recreation for a character who turned messiac by the third expansion of WoW and because the books told a story too tasteless for some. - Younger cast and fucked up timeline for why would we keep to the timetable we built for 20 years? 50 year old Lothar is not consumer friendly anyway. (Yeah right). - Alliance for people who love shout for the alliance yet it shouldn't be there. - No true baddies on screen for those baddies need time to explain them.

it didn't though, I can go into various reasons, but the big one is dalaran. it wasn't a floating city until in WoW, it was a city on the ground covered by a bubble so the demons wouldn't destroy it, which was even after when the movie was based on, so dalaran was a big story gap, not to mention oter ones

the people who bash it are mostly from Kotaku.......that should say all you need to know. Kotaku are the IGN of movie reviews.

As a film, and from a critical standpoint though, it's horrifically awful.

I have to disagree with that. There are objective facts that make this movie better than "horrifically awful": The special effects were on point, the cinematography for the most part was great. Everything else is subjective, sure.

+ultimo and why is that a bad thing? Trilogy like Lotr exists for a reason. I wouldn't want a Horde that got destroyed by mere 3 troops of human in a 2 hour films. The ring didn't got thrown into the lava moutain in the first movie and so shouldn't the orc be killed off. In the lore the first war ended with king Llane killed, the human fled to Lordaeron, the film stick to that except for the fleeting part. There is actually an OUTCOME, ALL OF HUMAN LEGIONS/ARMIES = DEAD. True they show Alduin uniting the alliance together, but they wouldn't do shit against the might of the Horde. That's a fair win for the Orc, one side actually WON, the OUTCOME IS THERE, they sacked villages, they destroyed armies, they killed the human king in his final battle. People just blindly said "Hurr durr the Orc are on the bad side no way they can win hurr durr this movie shouldn't end here hurr durr we want battle where human win hurrdurr"

big fan of the franchise, i was a bit disappointed at the movie. you can't just have grom on screen and not have him fight, or talk. and that's just one the things that has upset me about it.

I'm a Warcraft, WoW and Blizz fan, so take what I'm about to say with a grain a salt. I loved the movie, it was really fun an entertaining, but the thing is: it wasn't really good. If you're going to watch expecting a mind blowing movie, something that will change how you see the world or something that will move you, then yes, this movie doesn't meet any of the above. However, a movie doesn't have to be a masterpiece to be enjoyable, it just has to be fun. And that's what the Warcraft movie is: fun. Think of the Warcraft movie like this: it's like the Transformers movies (not story-wise, but in the great scheeme of things) because "were the Transformers movies *good*?", "hell no!, but they were fun to watch (the 1st 2)". It's like that but different.

+rautes I'll have to disagree on the second one being fun. That one was just painful on so many levels. The other three movies were still pretty bad, but more tolerable to watch. As for Warcraft, I haven't seen it yet, but I'll probably like it as a fan.

For those curious. All I could say is that it's a movie FOR the fans. Those who know little to nothing about Warcraft will most likely not enjoy it. I personally like it, but at the same time, I feel that the critics have justified reasons for their criticism. There are actually four cons that I would like to point out about the movie. #1. The CG on most other things are terrible. They're not bad, but when you compare to how good some of the characters like Durotan and Guldan look, it makes you scratch your head to why the others look almost like the orc from the opening cinematic of Reign of Chaos. It's decent when you look at them up close, but when you see them in large and distant mobs, you'll be scratching your head a little. #2 The pacing is odd. Scenes jump from place to place too quickly. One moment you're in Ironforge and then next you're already in Stormwind, only to find yourself in a some tavern and then in Medivh's tower like after a minute or less. #3 The designs of the elves and dwarfs are terrible. The dwarfs all look like they had their heads flattened with one of their hammers and the elves look like cosplayers. I understand trying to make them look like the game, but even the elf from the Burning Crusade intro didn't look like the ones from the game. Also the Draenei look like Avatars with horns. #4 Lastly, the human armor looks like leather. I don't mean the light armor, I mean the damn suits of armor look like leather. They barely have a single shine or metallic feel to them. Even the orcs look like they have better protection than the humans and they barely have any armor on. I'm a fan, but I'd give the movie a weak 6/10. I give it more than a 5 because I'm a fan and I enjoyed watching it. However, I'm not giving it anything higher, because there are problems you cannot simply ignore, even if you are a fan. The strongest and best parts of the movie are from the Horde and the orcs. Listening to drunken Lothar and the baby-face Alliance was a pain. And I'm not saying this just because I'm on the Horde's side. Watch the movie and see how much more interesting the Orcs are than the humans.

Well, no. That appearance comes directly from Warhammer before Warcraft. Technically Warhammer inspired Warcraft which then inspired a lot of modern fantasy because Warcraft became famous.
