Hey Abelhawk, I know I've arrived late to the party but me and my brother found this pretty cool secret in ch3 from the blood elves (dungeons of dalaran): After the first fight between garithos' forces and the undead, go to the left, you will encounter a prison with 3 spiders/spiderlings. If you destroy the door, you'll see that the spiders won't attack you, they will actually run away to the nearest armor rack. If you let them reach it, they will become 3 spellbreakers for your army. It's kind of interesting to think how they were polymorphed in the first place since they are always immune to magic. Love your videos man, cheers.
The campaign also saves Maev's items and stats from the Night Elf campaign, meaning that you can actually choose to nerf her to the ground during the tug of war mission by handing away all her items (and if they're given to Malfurion, cheekily give them to Illidan lol), and deliberately not obtaining stat tomes.
Jacobs Reject is a Starcraft reference. There is a mission in the first Terran campaign called Jacobs Installation, taking place in the eponymous science complex, where Zerg were being studied by the Confederacy. It parallels the Dalaran Reject, which relates to Kirin Tor's experiments.
Could possibly also be a reference to the psychological horror movie " _Jacob's Ladder_ " , seeing as both Jacob's Installation is full of alien creatures as is the Jacob's Reject a strange inhuman monstrosities.
The first quest in A Blaze of Glory mission, which requires you to sink Admiral Proudmoore's battleships, is called Seas of Blood, which is a Warcraft II reference. Seas of Blood is the name of Act 1 of the Horde campaign, its missions set around the invasion into Lordaeron from the Great Sea.
For anyone still trying to find the Hydralisk in the cinematic When the Horde Warriors begin to charge down the hill, look at the right side at the catapult. A bit left of it you will soon see a strange walking snake-thingy. Congratulations, you found the Hydralisk
In the thralls vision cinematic, as they charge down hill if you look to the left between the rocks you see a figure moving like a hydralisk - it isn't smooth like a runner or a horse. It's almost static and snake-like. I'd say that is the Hydra in the cinematic

The Zerg Hydralisk can be seen in thrall's vision coming over the hill at 11:33 just to the left of the rightmost standing stone. It then passes behind the stone and pops out to the right of it for a split second before other units overtake it. Too hard to see it in the low res version of the video but if you search up the HD version of this cinematic you can see it relatively clearly.

1:28 applies to the last mission as well - A symphony of frost and flame. If you're acolytes die without having a Necropolis a new one will spawn on the bottom left of the map.
You can use WinMPQ or MPQMaster and open the Warcraft III MPQ files, then extract the campaign maps. For the bonuc campaign in The Frozen Throne I think you needed a namelist or something, I forgout. You could also find them online I believe.
I just used an MPQ extractor to get the map files out of War3.mpq, War3x.mpq, and War3patch.mpq, and then opened them on the World Editor. And thus this series was born!
Abelhawk mate i think i've found the hydralisk in Thrall's vision. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dfkiJXnSRM8.html it's between 4:00-4:03(ofcourse play at 0.25 speed) on the right side when Thrall stops, i can see thin arms of hydralisk and how it's moves it's definetely a hydralisk. I dunno about the rest because i dont know for what to look in there(marines, protoss?). Tell me if you can see it now, and if you will add picture of it in next addendum :)
Something I haven't seen mentioned throughout the videos was the purpose of the founding of Durotar campaign. I had heard this was meant to be a little teaser for what World of Warcraft would be like, an RPG style game where the main focus was the solitary hero unit and how it tied in with major cities like Orgrimar. It was meant to encourage players to explore the "instances" of the map, or caves and portals in the WC3 map, and reward the player by giving them insane loot that would never be found in the campaign. Sure there were units given to the player because otherwise the campaign would be a little too hard, but still gave a feeling of a very primitive WoW and acted as a great teaser for what was to come. Perhaps this pseudo-advertisement was how Tim Cambell was able to convince Blizzard to include the Orc campaign?
According to David Fried, it was mainly done in an RPG style because they wanted a more Diablo-like experience. It's definitely got aspects of WoW, but because it was isometric, top-down, etc., it was more of a call back than a call forward.
You missed one i think. The cave where drek thar sends you to kill thunder lizards, if you go there at a later time, even though you are not given any quests related to that( it starts blinking on the map right after you get Nazgrel alongside other areas related to your quests), you will find some really great items.
He did show the lumber mill u encounter plus there is an indication with thralls dialog saying that if rexxar was looking for drek thar he should go to thunder ridge.
Regarding Trevor Jabos - one WarCraft II orc cinematic had a floating barrel with the name "Jacobs brew" clearly visible on it. It's the clip with sinking ships and giant turtles seen after you raze Stromgarde. And then StarCraft had the Jacobs Installation mission ;)
Yep, agree with the above - developers writing notes about CVS almost definitely means Concurrent Versions system (a SCM / source code versioning system which was disliked by lots of developers back in the day )
At 8:49 that looks a lot like a zerg hive and the eye just like the one of a cerebrate. What if without knowing it, the plague prevented the swarm from destroying Azeroth?

Maybe the markings of Frostmourne represents the game creator's initials. Also, speaking about the Jaina and arthas lines in the Blood Elf campaign map, maybe they used the Roc campaign map for this level, and they just changds the tileset of it. Maybe they even had plans with Kargon Irony. Also, if you look at the map file of A Symphony of frost and flame, you can see a funny disabled trigger called Crap we don't need. It used to be a special respawn for Illidan and his Naga, for hard mode. But they must have found it too much. If you look at the terrain of this map, you can clearly see that it is a bit unfinished, especially the south-east part. There shoould have been more creeps with special items, and things like that. But we will never found out the thruth. You should contact some game creators, and if they told you any secrets, you should include it in your video. :D Good luck.
also, something that I read on the WoWpedia website about the cinematic "Thrall's Vision": you can clearly see that Thrall isn't carrying the Doomhammer but rather an axe.. under the website's trivia section, it says that the axe might be the "Axe of Durotan", an item of importance in the cancelled RPG "Warcraft Adventures"
I caught the A Song Of Ice And Fire reference the first time you mentioned the title and it reminded me that I realised a while ago, that Warcraft in general in specifically WoW have a TON of ASOIAF references. Basically whole storylines seem to be based on ASOIAF. I talked about this with a fried a while ago and the longer we looked the more we found. Others might have found some of these way earlier but since I have known and played Warcraft and WoW since I was a child but only picked up ASOIAF after discovering GoT I didnt notice the similarities for years. Just some things that I remember from the top of my head: -The Lich King with his undead forces in the north is similar to the Night King/Night's King (even his theorised Stark-lineage based on a comment from old nan would fit in with Arthas being of Human nobility and then becoming the Lich King) -The Argent Dawn is made up of all kinds of humanoid races defending the southern kingdoms against the undead just as the Night's Watch -Parts of the last point might have influenced other parts of Azeroth: There actually is a faction called 'the Night's Watch' in WoW in Duskwood and the big Wall sorrounding an protecting Gilneas is also reminiscent of 'The Wall' in ASOIAF -I only know the name Tyrion/Tirion from two sources: The dwarf in ASOIAF (who visits the Wall and the Night's Watch) and the Paladin of WoW (who is around the Argent Dawn and later even leads them, as far as I recall) -The stories of Warcraft's Elves and ASOIAFs Children of the Forest are not too different although this is consistent with many Elf depictions (usually a very old or THE oldest humoanoid race, magical, one with nature etc.) -The Guardian, Medivh, who happens to be a human with elven-like abilities like turning into a raven(!) reminds me of Bloodraven/the three-eyed raven/crow being a human who seemingly helps the humans although his motives are not totally clear. So on and so forth. I know there was a lot more, some things a little to obvious to be coincidences.
It's more an exploit than easter egg but you forgot Malfurion passing Illidan Gul'dan's shadow orb and claws of attack +12 across the southern cliffs in Night Elf 8 - Brothers in Blood, near the end of the mission. The items get carried through to the human campaign and make Illidan even stronger.
In reign of chaos when illidan transforms into his metamorph he has a level ability of mass teleport that you can't get... (The level with the skull of guldan) (I'm aware I miss spelled it)
10:31 damn, you didn't mention it exactly, but blows my mind that the first ep of the duratan campaign is a Dune reference (Iron Maiden's 'To Tame a Land' is literally a song about Frank Herbert's 'Dune')
I see you mentioned 2 missions one named after the book and another after the song, but at least half of the mission names have their origins in pop culture ( Riders on the storm- the doors song, where wyverins dare- where eagles dare (1968 movie), brothers in blood - brothers in arms (dire straits song) these are just the ones i remembered, but there is a lot more similar cases. GJ dude this series was blast to watch!
11:30 You can actually see it somewhat clearly in the higher-quality Reforged version of the cinematic. Look somewhere around the rock on the right. You should be able to notice _something_ moving like a Hydralisk.
2:56 CVS likely refers to Computer vision syndrome, a condition that happens because of long uninterrupted periods of time staring at computer monitors. Considering the fact that these levels likely took days or months, the working conditions of game companies, which sometimes requires employees to slave away at computers without stopping and the fact that CVS causes headaches, blurred vision, neck pain, fatigue, eye strain, dry eyes, irritated eyes, double vision, vertigo/dizziness, polyopia, and difficulty refocusing the eyes, this comment is pretty much talking about this. And yes it sucks very much.
Kaels comment "is that it? Is that all the powers you can muster?" Is a regrence to Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. During the siege of Helms Deep Theoden sais the same thing about Saruman ;)

Is that all the power you can muster?" ILLIDAN (TBC: The Black Temple): Is this it, mortals? Is THIS all the fury you can muster?"

Intelligent orc might have been Broxigar the Red who traveled in time to the war of the ancients and record of that was kept by high Elves when they were exiled by the night Elves.
If I ever make my own campaign, I'll _definitely_ put Kargin Ironknee somewhere as an Easter Egg. :) EDIT: I just realised "Ironknee" might be a pun on "irony"
Hello again. As for material for videos around Warcraft - Well all that's left now are Game files/ World editor trivia and secret stuff(&resources). As i said in commend under one of previous vids. Tough i dont know if you want to make another one(looking at comment section people really want to see another one). So stuff like names of non existing sound sets, hidden models(and comparison between ones hidden in RoC and TFT, mostly which are in which game). And other stuff like hidden effects, sounds etc.
So I found your other addendum 2 part video, now this...I think I'm about to go down a rabbit hole. Some of these I knew, and I knew I'd missed some but WoW they put a lot in there.
I mean he's not wrong. CVS *does* suck. But yeah it was probably something like that. Have to update a file somehow to make it recognize a change or something like that.

Crazy how much I have forgotten about the game. I don't mean the easter eggs, but seeing all the cinematics and bits about the storyline, I realized that I remember hardly 1/3 of all the WC3 stuff. Most of the things I've learned about the lore I've learned through WoW, but it seems most of the Vanilla/TBC/WotLK lore was already there in WC3. Insane... Maybe I have to install WC3 again on my computer and play it.

Oh ! I could be wrong but during Thrall's vision orc charge, look on a HD video of the intro, at the darker sillouhette standing right on top of the hill, slightly on the left in the background. I though it was a banner attached to some kind of pole swinging slightly in the wind but lookine attentively it might be the top a hydralisk with the rther dinstinct shape of its crest, standing and moving it's head, yeah.
Yes I too saw it as captain Americas helmet and in the mission where u stop illidan from 'destroying the roof of the world' the paladin that u rescue has 1.
In the last mission, if you destroy Vashj's base in the bottom right, you'll find Amulet of Spell Shield. Actually it's highly recommended to annihilate either Vashj's or Kael's forces asap, then you'll have less pressure to defend your base while your troops are out battling with Illidan.
I found the Easter Eggs in Cinematics! :D There are: HYDRALISK in Charging Army Of the Horde.. between the 2 rocks and on the left side, there is G'huun! Look better & You'll see it cleary! :D
In undead mission Into shadow web caverns, i found some interesting thing. Near the starting point, next to the the gate broken by Sapphiron there is a boulder that can be broken like many other, it leads to a smaller room where there is nothing but a one lever. This lever is similar to others in that mission, but it cannot be clicked on, it's basically grayed out. I assumed it's connected to the gate itself, and it becomes grayed out, and unclickable after gate gets broken by dragon. But it was a nice little find.
That lever is used for rising the first platform if you don't want to use the Meat Wagon to shoot the lever that's next to some explosive barrels across the room. You can hit either one of those levers; they do the same thing.
At 10:05 that chapter I don't remember if you menthoned it or not, but if you destroy the Naga's castle you will get an item aswell. (I don't remember the name, but it looks like a yellow shell, in DotA its name was Mekansm) Edit: One word xD

It's funny how in russian localization Kael'Thas said "How am I supposed to defeat the undead? Repress them with my authority?". I just found it funny since he's an elf. And elves in russian fandoms are egoistic and self centered usually. This has nothing to do with this video tho
