I have just come back to warframe this week after a multi-year break, finishing school and going to uni took my time. 9 years ago I started playing when I’d just turned 13, and I couldn’t stop showing all my friends “potato powered”s stalker warframe video. I sent you an email asking if you preferred boltor prime or soma, like some crazed childish fan. I’ve always gone to your content whenever an update drops, or if I need to catch up on what I’ve missed. I can’t believe I’m about to be 23 and I am still watching all your videos, with as much awe as I did back all those years ago. A lot of people here are thanking DE and TotalBiscuit, but I want to thank you for your massive role in my enjoyment of this game.
Wow, reading that honestly means so much. I feel extra old but really happy to have had any impact on a players experience. Thank you so much for the kind words.
I've been thinking about all the older states warframe has been in, and seeing this video, the more and more I think that warframe peaked in 2017-2018, take me back. so many systems that have since been removed, so many frames that where since reworked but on the other hand so many frames that stood their ground (rather than being in the pointless state they are now) I miss my old (not old old) ember, even without her 4, and I want my old tempo royale back ;(
i hate that i never got the mastery rank system and buying the blueprints to build stuff the first time i played the game which put me off for so many years
Holy shit, T.Potato, I was not ready for TotalBiscuits voice and opening lines to come through my speakers, but... Thank you. It's good to hear it again, and I'm glad he still has a place in people's hearts and minds.
I was not ready for the emotional rollercoaster of confusion and nostalgia I felt when I clicked on this video and tabbed away, only to hear TB's voice again.
This game has come such a long way and is incredibly good. Soo much to do, tons of fun. However IMO it's still missing something in the gameplay to retain players and also PvP.. PvE is too fatiguing after you've been playing for years, and you're tired of grinding for either the new shiny thing or a new power up. This game is at its best when you passively progress and grow stronger from doing fun missions... It's at it's worst when you're actively trying to get stronger by running the most efficient missions. A better PvP would be great for the players who've done it all already, don't care about farming anymore and just want to enjoy the game..
@@MrKyletheawesome I pretty much only come back for story, nowadays. DE barely shakes up the meta with either balance changes or new missions that require more than defend or kill, so I'm still fine using my Mesa for pretty much everything, ever since she (and her prime) came out.
Dude I don't think you realise the impact you've had on our lives. For us hearing your voice is like hearing the voice of s father a brother a friend that is and should always be there . Every mountain you climbed was a gasp for breath for us for fear of loss of a loved one. Your a part of our lives and thanks is ours to give not to be taken. Thank you bro. Warframe was a journey for all of us and some of us will make it to the end and as life roles on some of us won't. I was there at the beginning and I want to be there at the end. Now, for legendary rank 3.
ive stopped playing warframe since 2 years back due to moving on but i will always Love and remember it as the best game of my life. And its the gold standard for f2p games in their monetization and quality and dev team. Sept 2013 - ca. 2021 6000 hours+
@@thedude232 no i didnt buy the pack and i dont think it was available when i started. even if it was i was to young to be allowed to buy it for my parents
Seeing 3 eidos on the map at once makes me wish there was a survival mode on the plains where every 5 min an eido or ropalolyst would spawn while sentients n grineer spawned in droves. Thatd be pure chaos
Never mind that. Now that the Narmer are here, and because Lotus managed to 'become whole again', I want to see the Tridolons restored to before Gara destroyed them.
@@IllusionistsBane It would require a massive landscaping on DE's part. The Tridolons, the smaller wisps and the giant bones both in the plains as well as the giant carcass far off in the distance are all pieces of the original sentient that Gara destroyed. That's how big that thing was.
The fact this was a last ditch effort to keep the company afloat and has outlived many coop looter shooters is a testament to how great the devs are as people. It has it's flaws sure but what game doesn't? But damn is this one of the most fun games i've played i'm sure TotalBiscuit would be proud may he rest in peace
Man even to this day I feel a heart string being tugged when I hear TotalBiscuit's voice. May he rest in peace. Awesome video. Was yet another trip down memory lane for me and while there were a couple of potholes and random traffic jams, overall it's been an absolutely awesome journey. DE has shown themselves trustworthy enough for me to keep them in the highest regard among other developers, and I can't wait to see what's in store for both Warframe and Soulframe. Here's to another 10 years of Digital Extremes. *drinks coffee*
Good video, thanks for the memories. I still remember that closed beta invite and the hours of bug reports. If you'd told me we would still be playing this ten years later... I'm really looking forward to what Duviri might shape up to be.
Dude. That clip of TotalBiscuit in the beginning. Top respect for that. I miss him. My first kitgun (Tom finger, haymaker, splat) I named Bain after him 'cause I figured it'd be just the kind of weapon he'd like.
2013-2015 i had such a blast with this game.... it will always have a special place in my heart..! I always come back to this game, even when i started new on another platform.
I can't believe you didn't mention the riven mafia. But on a side note thanks for all the years of great content. I don't even play much anymore but I look forward to each of your videos
I remember when Warframe had a pvp system that pitted clans against each other to take control over dark sectors to gain advertising via starmap. I really hoped they'd have brought that back some day. I think the dojo room still has a terminal dedicated to it which has just been completely useless this whole time
Thank you for this video. I've loved Warframe for over 8 years now, almost 9. Even if my playtime is staggered it's never left my downloaded games list. I love this game, its lore, its evolution, and its community. Thank you for showing this game love on a platform that can bring more people into the fold.
For me, Warframe is a giant lab to ideas, where you mainly experiments between warframes and weapons. That kept me going for so long, and still today. Also, Warframe has an intriguing sci-fi story, and we all waited patiently to see such story progress. The New War was such a huge milestone, that and MR30. It felt like reaching the peak of the Warframe decade. Let's see what's next
I've changed from a tenno to a guardian in the last few years but I still watch Potato's vids to stay up to date and because well how can you not just love his content
I started playing Warframe because of the way it looked. It reminded me of Dead Space and Ninja Gaiden which were two of my favorite games back then. What really sold me was the customisation for weapons by moding and the fashion frame.
My heart melted hearing TB again. I loved his content and his words about Warframe got me into the game back in 2013. He said the game had potential and look where we are.
I have watched this game grow ever since the beginning. I'm glad I got a Founders pack, as I also did the same for Firefall before it got consumed and destroyed. It's grown so much, and I am so happy it has only succeeded. The story has been awesome as well, if not a bit complex.
Man firefall pissed me off so much because it had so much potential that was squandered. I played through multiple changes and eventually it just died to it's own dev hell but ah well. It's good to see that Warframe flourished well over the last decade though.
I joined warframe in 2016 and I've seen so many content creators for warframe come and go. Bousefeenix, quite shallow etc. But I'm glad to see you're still making incredible videos for it man. I can't believe I've been playing a game I love for 7 years and I'm glad DE is still going hard in the point with it.
Started playing this game on Xbox one around late 2014. Around the time Mirage was released. Dropped it at the end of 2015 cause of school, work, etc. Came back 8 years later at the start of 2023 and went from MR 16 to MR 22 in 2 months. My God I forgot how much I love this game and it is a drug I can't get enough of
As many others were not, I was certainly not ready to hear TotalBiscuits voice again. Shit brought me close to tears as I reflected on my gaming journey and how he and many other game journalists have changed and shaped my views in looking more critically at games while still finding the fun and enjoyment we all want and get out of them. Now to watch the rest of the video.
Found your videos almost 6 years ago trying to find the best builds for certain warframes and weapons, best farming locations, and the silly videos you would do with Jordas, Minx, and anyone else. Thank you for the fantastic videos!
Videos like this really puts into perspective how long I've played this game, on and off. Almost 9 years now, I remember waiting for the second dream, the amazing story reveals, the void tower, its all so fun and nostalgic to remember and I'm so glad the game has survived and grown to where it is now
Been playing since the War Within, couldnt be happier with the game, the devs have absolutely crushed it. I wanted to check it out back in high school but my dad's old laptop couldn't handle it. Fast forward to 2016, was going through a rough time and looking for a good mind numb, and happened to come acrosss Warframe again. After recognizing the art style/title I instantly downloaded it to check it out and I've been playing ever since. Best reveal moment in my videogame life experience was the Second Dream, since I didn't look up anything prior to that I was absolutely mind blown. Keep it up DE
I remember playing some time closer to beta, was such an interesting game that never really stuck for me. I'd come back every couple of years just to grind out some of the new content, each time the game would take leaps forward and fixing some of the issues of the updates before I got to play them. Coming back recently, the game really became a comfort game. something I know that I can just get on and enjoy the journey even if its grindy at times. I enjoy having a toolbox of items and frames, figuring out on my own some new ways to complete content to keep things interesting. Used to be in the crowd that wanted endgame content but I now have shifted to enjoying a journey of progression which Warframe does really well. Its a game about building up an arsenal, and it feels rewarding to have new ways to play since it means coming back to older content isn't a chore but rather a new way to experience some content
No longer play this game but I definitely enjoyed my 3000+ hours in the game and it will always be my all time favorite game even if I never play it again. Been a great 10 years
Loved the video. Joined in 2016 and with all ups and downs, WF is the game I end up coming back to every time. Hopefully it'll keep improving and have a long life, bc I'm looking forward to Soulframe too.
At least for me, my wanting raids back isn't rose tinted glasses. When I first tried the game, I didn't make it very far and nearly quit the game for good. My friend who had convinced me to try it, then convinced me to try the first raid. That raid is the reason I still play. I loved it and wish they'd bring them back.
@Tactical Potato Haha! It was an absolute buggy mess! Too many times those stupid platforms would bug out and not open the way forward and we'd have to restart. XD But, even with the bugs, the raids and the 2 hour long void key missions were my favorite part of the game at the time. I miss them. :)
i feel honored watching your video, its like digital extream team directly says thank you to me, but through you if that make sense........thanks for all your video all these years mate, cheers to another years to come for you, your family and for all the warframe community.
What a decade it's been. also first. also surprise dadjoke- I can cut wood just by looking at it. I know its hard to believe but i saw it with my own two eyes.
Great retrospective, man! I haven't played since a bit before Scarlet Spear (Xbox woes), but ever since they announced cross-saves I've been stuck in a holding pattern of anticipation for the day when I can recover that account on PC. If nothing else, I hope you take heart in knowing that you've made me miss this game even more with this video, and set my desire to get back to this wonderful game up to 11. You bastard.
Incredible 10 years with ups and downs, and you've always been one of the content creator I go back to. I've followed you back then and stayed even when you started focusing on different games alongside Warframe. Here's to more years of fun, Tater! 13:25 Just a small note: that revelation was done years ago, through the Natah quest. We already knew she was a Sentient.
I found a video a while back ("what's this taking up 500Mb of my cloud storage?") of me getting stuck on an invisible wall for a bug report in November 2013. It's hard to believe how far it's come.
I remember almost quitting over Railjack because it was so brutal, but in it's current state where you can have NPCs that help with the guns and repairs, it's in a much much better place now and quite enjoyable to play.
I may not have played Warframe for atleast 3 years now due to work and such, but it's still the only game in my library raking a 2652 hrs in it. This game still have a special place in my gaming heart, hope I can have the same intensity of gaming to jump to the game again.
Ironically, i didnt have to grind for my railjack because i just joined an open crew to see what railjacks were all about, i got alot of resources, and when i built my own i had very few components to go get in regular missions. Like half an hour extra time ontop of doing the quest.
I stil remember the day I completed Second Dream. Trough some incompetence on my part it became an even greater experience than it would have been had I been smart. See, when your operator first crawls towards the warframe and you have to go extraction you can use the Operator to blast the sentients away. I didn't know that. I just walked slowly towards the exit. The mission is made so you cannot die, you just go down to 2hp. So there I was, holding my operator in arms, walking as if carrying a heavy burden, while sentients descended and pelted me with energy blasts as I walked towards extraction. I felt like Jesus carrying the cross to my own crucifixion. That's powerful. Very powerful.
TotalBiscuit was the one who sold me on this game. As soon as I saw the mod system, that was it. I was in. Brilliant. I love the Warframes. Everything else - Railjack, Archwing, and especially the operator - falls flat for me. And because DE seems hell bent on focusing on non-WF stuff, I cant see myself playing much more. But its been fun thats for sure.
I've tried getting back into Warframe but every time I do, I just get overwhelmed by the sheer amount of stuff there is to do and the lack of direction, not to mention how weapons and builds I used to use regularly have been nerfed into oblivion and the convoluted network of drop tables and mission types I have to navigate to get a piece of gear I want. Still, I'm glad it's still going and that people enjoy it. This is probably one of the only live services that's actually lasted more than 10 years (anyone remember Anthem's "10 year journey"?).
I remember starting warframe early in its life I don’t remember exactly when it was but I stopped playing for like 2 years cause there was no storyline and then I came back 2 years later js to see how the game was and it was so much better and the story is amazing now I can’t wait to see what they do
The "void keys: RIP" comment towards the beginning threw me for a loop. Clearly I have been out of Warframe for too long if that is no longer even a thing anymore! I played Warframe back when it first was available to the public on PC, then went to PS4 went it launched there and played up until just a few years ago when I went back to PC gaming. Still hoping to get back into the game some day when they add the ever elusive cross-progression so I can get my PS4 account back!
10 years ago i was finishing high school and playing Warframe. Tbf not much changed - still mentally high school and playing Warframe. What a journey it was.
I still remember downloading this game on Xbox om a whim just because the cover looked kinda cool and because it was free of course but man I'm so glad I decided to try it out I genuinely loved the lore the game play amd everything about it warfram has to be one of my most favorite games amd honestly one of the best free games I've ever played I've loved being apart of this community and I'm so glad this game pulled through to be able to grow onto what it did today I hope to see it stay around for a long time to come
Interesting, never even heard of jordas verdict. Started playing the game way after raids were removed, but I knew of Law of retribution, seems like it was way more popular.
I really enjoyed the video! Played the hell out of this game, too. It's still a great game and I'm curious about what is yet to come. Again, great vid! Well done :)
Great video, I'm always curious about the game's past, like "How did the void keys work?". I totally forgot how awesome the game has been cause it feels like quite a while since something exciting came out- I tore through the whole game in about a year, starting during Orphix Venom (I wish they would bring that back, I even built a Voidrig just after the event). Railjack absolutely blew my mind (maybe because it's not as buggy?) and Scarlett Spear sounds like part of the big raid that ties the whole game together that I've been dreaming about, hopefully it will happen one day.
I've been playing since February 2016, and I would have been earlier if I wasn't so hesitant because I knew this damn game would suck me in and hold me; and i'm still here fuckin 7 years and probably about 1000USD later lmao
Really enjoyed this video. would love to see a version of this that is a next step, like a theory crafting video about future of warframe where players creators want to go and what we might expect etc. Also expectations as to 10 year anniversary and tennocon this august.
i remember wanting to play warframe back in 2015 but i didnt even have a pc then i waited over 5 years and only got to play the game back in 2020 its been 3 years now that im playing it and its still as much fun as it was in 2020
Having 8 frames was kind of awesome, but it fell flat on it's arse because the encounters were designed in such a way that you needed some specific frames if you wanted to get it done. Having at least 1 Trinity was mandatory as there was this one phase where you needed that 99% Blessing if you wanted to survive.
My biggest regret in gaming is not buying the founders pack when it was available, and not getting into Warframe on the day I made my account. I just didn't get into it and tried again a couple years later. I would give anything to get that founders pack added to my account
I haven't kept up with any updates since railjack so I had no idea really what happened since then. I've played the game now and then but I just did survival missions for fun. Nice to get a summary.
