Not even the first time I've seen this exact thing happen. Hours of "how do I do this" while the fucking prompt keeps on reappearing and staying on their screen
Depends on the experiences. If you’ve been playing for long, a lot of those reveals, like the identity of the witness, just don’t hit like they did for us.
Not really. 1) it gives way too much information, as a long time destiny player that already knows all this stuff it seems great but a lot of new players just don't retain this stuff 2) it's a lot less cool than just playing through the campaigns. It's a bandage on a gaping wound.
Yeah, Destiny has it's problems, but so does Warframe. I think a lot of people are overly negative, to the point that misdirection and even outright lies are rampant. I've been playing Warframe since 2017, and Destiny since 2019. The amount of vitriol i've received when saying I enjoy one around the other's community from one side is absurd in comparison to the other. Hope you enjoy what you play, they're just games at the end of it after all.
Warframe has problems to be sure, but I think Destiny perfected the art of shooting themselves in the foot and trying to reel their old players back in
I've been playing Destiny since the D1 beta and I still love the game and play it daily, having never taken a break. But I gotta say starting now is a horrible experience, the new player on-boarding is god awful. Tons of great weapons aren't available anymore and worse farming for past exotics from the kiosk is probably one of the most monotonous boring grinds in the game. The game is amazing for hardcore players who kept up with it, not so much for new players. Out of the dozens who I've tried to help start only 1 has stayed and it took him many months, almost a year, to finally get everything from the kiosk and all their catys. Without the season pass caty buffs some require like 500 strikes to complete made worse because you can only get 1 Cypher/exotic a week from the Xur quest. I believe it took him around 2500 strikes to finish them all.
i’ve been playing destiny since 2014 and warframe on and off since 2016. destiny is one of the worst games on the market, and it really pains me to say that. bungie senior management doesn’t give any fucks on what happens to the game, and actively holds their devs back. destiny will never be a good game as long as they have that management, and considering a lot of the playerbase just quit after the final shape ended, their is no hope.
@@oliverseiler2871 They also told everyone they'll keep making content and already made a roadmap for whats to come in 2025/26. Destiny is definetly gonna face longevity issues but thats a blatant lie bro
@@Q_Quicc Music is top notch and we will certainly will Salvatori. As for the Lore - if you are interested in listening to it, there are a couple of channels who make videos about it, with @MyNameIsByf being one of the best.
Destiny has had a lot more composers than just Michael Salvatori, so please don't forget to credit them as well. Their names are: Rotem Moav Michael Sechrist Skye Lewin Josh Mosser Pieter Schlosser Kris Dirksen C Paul Johnson
@@Q_Quicc warlock one not true. been a warlock main for 10 years and never been booted for not running support. destiny can be played in any way you choose and get the job done. in harder endgame content running different weapons or supers would make it easier, but thats on any class. don't listen to the hate and enjoy destiny for what it is like another guy said it's a video game at the end of the day. so enjoy it if it makes you happy.
@@Q_Quicc thats hilariously not true. That might have been true like 2 years ago, but that's because the warlock ults were all kind of garbage in comparison to the utility of the support super. Now warlocks have some amazing offensive ults.
Wouldn't worry too much about which class you pick initially. After recent updates, gear power will drop at your highest character's level which makes levelling multiple characters much easier.
I wouldn't listen to the Destiny haters who bitch about everything and how things arnt free. If you like and enjoy the game thats great and if you dont that's fine too.
1000% this. Destiny's monetization isn't bad at all, and is actually quite generous compared to the vast majority of "free" games out there. If you want an extremely high quality game, you're going to have expect to pay for new content from time to time, and paying $70-$80 once a year for an expansion and constant new content (via episodes) is frankly a steal for the quality.
@@mrsmi1ey exactly and not only that but Bungie are also changing DLC's in the future. Instead of getting one big annuall DLC we are getting 2 smaller ones which are going to have unique experiences all the while getting two different Season passes which are going to be free.
Something to note is that they recently made the two oldest expansion currently in the game Free to Play. I'd definitely recommend going through them. The order is Shadowkeep first, which is on the Moon, followed by Beyond Light, which is on Europa. They're a great way to get your foot in the door regarding story content, and Beyond Light even gives you access to a new set of Subclass Abilities based on the Stasis (Ice) Element.
Since when? I thought the free period ended after TFS dropped, and then they made light fall and witch queen free for last week, but I had no clue they made beyond light free!
@@tetrisking8633 the Story Content for Beyond Light and Shadow keep are free for all players. There are separate Paid Content Packs for those expansions, but those mostly give you access to a couple exotics and the raids.
@@tetrisking8633 shadowkeep and beyond light campaigns are free but basically all of the loot isnt, kinda like how the forsaken pack worked after they removed most of it
3:05 , it's been 10 years. And it still gives me goosebumps. Edit: Yes, Hunters are squishy. Titans are the easiest to make good stats. Hunters have to focus on most stats, while titans have to focus on just over half.
I've been playing Destiny for not quite 2 years at this point (on and off with abt 700h at the moment) and I feel somewhat mixed on the game. Imo the core gameplay, loot-grind, buildcrafting, etc are all incredibly enjoyable. The end game content (dungeons and raids) is also a ton of fun but I don't engage with it a whole lot because I have no irl friends who also play the game. Even so the content I can complete solo is still very enjoyable. Where the game falls flat for me is the narrative and the monetization. I don't mind the expensive expansions but having to seperately but season passes and especially dungeon keys sucks. It's really hard to get other people to play the game because pretty much all of the best content is not only locked behind a sluggish start (leveling up to the appropriate light level, unlocking exotic armor and obtaining decent weapons) but also a paywall. Even if the dungeons and raids are some of the best co-op gaming experiences you can have nobody is willing to grind strikes for 50h and pay for a 20$ dungeon pass just to be able to play them.
I freakin love this game.never tired of it. good friends met along the ten years ive been playing.im glad theres new players...not so happy so many haters talk a lot of negativety with thousands of hours played....thats like eating all your food and then complain at the waiter the food wasnt what you ordered.
Definitely go into the graphics settings if you haven’t already, and turn off motion blur, wind impulse, chromatic aberration and film grain. Idk why anyone would want those on. And if you turn off Aim Smoothing in your control settings, it might make your aim feel better. You might also like to max out your FOV. I think it defaults at 80 and can go up to 105. I also recommend your melee ability and class ability bound to thumb buttons.
Titan main, here. We're the big tanky punch onrs. It's always fun seeing new lights in the Cosmodrome! As a Titan, I always feel it's my job to _horrifically murder_ everything that tries to hurt a new light. Smol light. Must protect. Then run up to them and emote. It never loses It's charm, honestly.
As a warlock main I recommend: Test Solar Warlock Icarus Dash and Heatwave is such a great thing. Great to see someone playing Destiny 2 after so many years playing Warframe. I can cleary see sometimes your "Warframe-instinct" is kicking in while you are aiming or how you play the game overall. 😂
Everytime I see these I reminded how tough the new player experience it. There’s so much to learn and not enough work put into making it easier to understand.
Warlock main here, if you want a good introduction to later game stuff, the Prophecy dungeon is free and a excellent piece of starter endgame content. Im down to teach, if you need!
Wow your chat wasn't much help in explaining quite a few things 😅 hopefully this'll explain things a bit better. Your abilities require time to charge between uses and can be seen on the bottom left part of the HUD. Dealing damage and picking up Orbs of Power, little white black rimmed balls on the ground, will grant additional super energy to charge your super ability faster. For your current solar hunter build, that's the golden gun you pulled out that deals massive damage, but all classes have access to multiple different supers and elements. Your grenade and melee is pretty straightforward. Your dodge ability not only lets you dodge out of the way of enemy fire, but also reloads your equipped weapon instantly. Kinetic weapons using primary weapons, like your auto rifle, have unlimited Ammo. Special weapons using energy Ammo, green bricks, like your Shotgun, have limited Ammo dependent on you finding it. Power Weapons, also known as Heavy Weapons, are the ones that use the purple Ammo bricks also known as heavy Ammo. They do the most damage, but the Ammo is also harder to get. Special and heavy Ammo can drop from enemies when they die, and from rally banners (which you'll encounter soon). There'll be a white marker pointing the way to go for your current mission objective, and if you either tap the button for your ghost, or call up your Ghost entirely, it'll display additional information. The other player who had the sword was indeed a warlock, but swords are not limited to their class. Every class can get access to swords that are shared between all classes (the one he was using is from an activity called Dares of Eternity), and each class also has a unique sword only they have access to - and the hunters sword is the one capable of doing the most damage. For the big spider looking tank you encountered towards the end, the legs are its weak points as indicated by the high yellow damage numbers appearing when you shot them. When it collapses, the "head" of the tank will extend, temporarily exposing the engine which is then the new weak point, or crit point, as it's also called.
This peaked my interest as a destiny player. Although the monetisation imo is fine, It's similar to old overwatch, you get exp and you'll get an engram (mini loot box). You can earn the cosmetics for free through RNG or by bright dust. (A currency where you can by cosmetics in a store that rotates weekly).
If you end up liking the game and want some help, I would love to help. I have helped at this point probably over 100 different people get exotics, learn raids, and achieve new things. Just offering to help. Have fun!
If you ever try anything like Prophecy (a free to play 3 person dungeon activity), and need someone to run it with lmk!! Love seeing new people try the game
10k+ hours here, the tutorial definitively isnt the best out there, couple pointers if you want: -guns are seperated into Kinetic/primary (white), energy (green), and heavy ammo. They act as your base source of damage and are located on your numbers as 1, 2, 3 respevtively. Bottom left are your cooldowns as you already saw and recognized that when its on cooldown, you cant use em except your basic melee ability. The cooldowns are influenced by the gear you wear. Navigation wise, tab brings up your ghost to refresh any quest markers should they dissapear. There is also options to always use charged melee over the basic one and one to always fire full auto with any gun. Good luck out there o7
Clarification! Kinetic/Energy and Primary/Special are two different classifications. Kinetic/Energy determines the slot they go in exclusively. Primary/Special determines if they have infinite ammo or not. Heavy weapons can be any damage type, but always have even more limited ammo, in exchange for having powerful effects. Damage types only matter for 2 things, Shields and class synergy. Shields are weak to their own damage type (solar shield breaks to solar more easily). The other reason is much more important. Basically, weapons which match your subclass may have synergies with that subclass- for example, an arc gun can give you the amplified buff while you are playing an arc subclass. Good luck out there, Guardian!
Got a new follower today. 10 year Destiny player, but i tried Warfame. Wasnt for me but i totally get why so many love the game. Won't lie, im a little jealous of how incorporating and welcome the devs are. Anyways, seem like a cool dude. Look forward to checking out content.
Game is great, monetization is not anywhere near as bad as some people make it out to be. You can get fully caught up on all content for about 100usd and that includes the separate dungeon keys. Legacy pack has all old dlc in a bundle for cheap and final shape has the new dlc the only thing missing is a few dungeon keys you have to buy separately if you end up wanting them.
Im a little disappointed you didnt go with warlock, but i get it. But they're all fun to play. I use all three and just sorta rotate based on what i feel like
To address one of your questions (which you may already know the answer to): Every guardian is immortal. You will never feel any negative effects of age, it doesn’t matter your organs are mush, you’re cut in half, blown up, burned, sucked into a black hole, atomised, whatever, if your ghost is well and nearby, they will (presumably) reconstitute you wholly. You may wonder then if you are a “clone”. The simple answer is, your body (including the brain) is cloned, your consciousness is contiguous and original.
So, how Destiny works is that the class only determines what your abilities are and what exotic armour you can get, there are a total of six subclasses or elements, in the game, and each class (as in titan, hunter and Warlock) have different versions of those subclasses with different abilities but some of the same buildcrafting. Things like what weapons you can get and how survivable you are are the same across all three classes, you can pick which stats to max out on all of them. Generally speaking you could say Hunters are the least survivable simply because several titan abilities are very tank focused, and Warlock has more healing options, however, with the right build you can make a hunter nearly as surviveable as the best builds on the other two. So at the highest end, yes Hunters are the least surviveable, but it's negligeable, and if you're willing to play slow, void hunter invisability is debateably the most surviveable. Also, if you count jumping sections, Hunters are by far the most surviveable because Warlock jump sucks and titan's don't have much in the way of vertical movement either.
It is a big miss when they give you a solar shotgun, then don’t tell you how to switch to it. Proceed to tell you that elemental weapons break shields. Then give you an arc shield
Honestly for the best experience i really recommend not letting your chat distract you, several on screen prompts went ignored that were telling you what things were and how to do them
The early game doesn't give new players time to get attached to Cayde before that quest. It makes him look like a marvel character with the funny before the big scene, unfortunately
@@Q_Quicc Oh yeah, There's a (In-game) way yo do that, Although back when I played it, I'd just use a Inventory Management Tool/App, as doing it through the game can involve a lot of loading and swapping (Unless they've changed how it works after I stopped playing it)
@@Q_Quicc Yeah, you can either store them in the Vault and pick up via each character - or use the official Destiny Companion App to do it via a phone. There is also DIM (Destiny Item Manager) which is available both as a desktop and a phone app.
@@Q_Quicc As others have stated weapons are sharable amongst characters so you can make one of each and bungo has updated the game to where all your characters gear will drop at your highest characters power level I main warlock but my other characters gear like armor drops at my warlocks power level since he usually my highest welcome to the game though hope the free to play and introduction experience isnt as bad for you as its been for many
It's a good game. Happy to pay for content. My only complaint is that much of the good loot/gear is locked behind multiplayer missions and activities. So, if you're a solo whether by choice or you just cant find the time to team up etc then you cant access so many of the best weapons. Everyone pays the same fee for the expansions etc so its not right that you have to have the time to learn/play complex content in teams to get the good stuff. It is fun of course, team play, but this is ALSO a game for solo players, hence my point. people will say 'just go LFG' but its more complicated than that. You need a lot of time to learn a raid for example, or dungeon (end game content) and much of the player base are working people with families and when you think they are a HUGE part of the revenue stream for Bungie that the devs would add 'ways' to access the rare gear. Many solo players are great players who solo end game content like Grand Master Level Nighfalls yet despite being 'gud' they are still denied many rewards. Currently as an example there are new armor exotics called 'class items' which you can only access via a 2 player mission, so its have or have not. Also currently, you cant level up beyond a certain level without completing a multi player mission. Sucks when Ive paid the same as everyone else.
I’ve played Destiny since year 1. I’ve also played Warframe, when it comes to movement in game, there’s nothing else like it imo. I don’t care about the monetization, I enjoy playing and only buy DLCs, I don’t buy any cosmetics because there’s so much that’s earnable in game. I have well over 4K hours into it. If drama, a very spiteful and insatiable community doesn’t bother you, I think you’d enjoy it a lot. I’m a Hunter main, but over the last year I’ve really enjoyed playing on Warlock. Titan by far is least played and feels the squishy-ist to me. Give it the time it deserves, but if you do want the full experience, you’re gonna have to pay.
Highly recommend going in with an experienced player or watching youtuber's guides. The new player experience sucks, but after you understand the game, it becomes so much better. Especially when you understand builds and how to buildcraft
I don't blame you for catching an interest. Been playing it for almost a decade now, and I'm still lost 😅. The only gripe I have is the pay wall. Unless I'm mistaken(get me right if I'm wrong). You need access to ALL expansions to reap the benefits of ALL the weapons. NOT complaining. I still have a blast playing Crucible, Gambit, and Onslaught. Just not "equipped" for RAIDS!! 😂❤
Hunters are not the squishiest class, all the classes are equally strong and squishy. Build crafting lets you determine your survivability and damage output. You're just extra squishy as a "New Light" ie. new player. I've seen people absolutely tank damage from a boss when the day previous they fell over because a Thrall (basic Hive enemy) smacked them one too many times lol
I kinda expected the hunter pick, most people gravitate towards it on their first playthrough. I will say though, warlock, although hard to get used to, has some of the most fun gameplay, as long as you specifically think of ways to have fun. If you have the mindset of DPS, hunter is the one for you, but if you love blowing things up with grenades, its wedlock all the way.
7:21 I never noticed that the titan is wearing an arc centric exotic helmet while using a solar hammer, the helmet will be completely useless to them XD
Important question: how did you like the intro to D2? It doesn't have the best intro to the franchise, its a make shift tutorial that replaced the older sunset content, lots of stuff not really explained. That aside, did you enjoy it? Will you play more?
For me the only issue I have with Warframe is how most of the drops are not directly items but materials to use. I like Destiny for generic loot of weapons and similar
Istg the amount of time you spent with the tooltip plastered across the entire top of the screen that was telling you where your ability energy bars are. Was almost 4 minutes 😂 I've seen SOOOO many people complain that the tooltips on the bottom are too obvious and obstruct too much of the screen, and they wish all tooltips were the easily dismissable ones on the top. Guess there really is a reason the ones across the bottom are made so obvious, and apparently they should all be like that? Man, UX and onboarding design is wild, and it's always interesting to see different sorts of players engage with it, and what their needs are.
@@Q_Quicc🤣 in that case, I don't think there is a perfect UX solution. I think more obvious is still better, cause the hope is eventually it'll annoy you enough to read it. Too small or skippable and it'll seem unimportant, and if it times out then you might legitimately miss it for any number of reasons and never know it was there.
The funny part is I played alot of warframe before switching to destiny 2 in season of arrivals I did touch it a tad previously. And it's legit just the meme from story "I don't wanna play with you know more" as I drop warframe on the floor xD
Please make this a seires, because ive forgotten the innocence of a new light/Blueberry and I quite enjoyed this video. PLS MAKE MORE. (20k Hours D2 player)
The fact that new players don't realize there's a huge ass tutorial frame taking up the upper 1/4th of the screen should prompt Bungie to completely revise the player onboarding. It's painful
I've played both games extensively, and am deeply entrenched in the lore of both games. Coming from Warframe, I feel you'll enjoy the story that Destiny 2 has to offer. Coming from Destiny, I'm sorry for how boring the gameplay loop will get. As a New Light, I encourage you to look up gameplay of any content you've missed, like The Red War or any DLC content, that may be unavailable. Otherwise you'll feel like you've missed everything. That being said, there's not been a looter shooter that FEELS better than Destiny, so have fun.
Well ... D2 is a good game, with a good story and a good gameplay, somewhat "easier" than Warframe. It's a shame that you can no longer play the first half of the story, you miss the entire build up for the finale. But... Is a funny game, and the late gameplay is very interesting (not like my poor english). The real problem? It costs too much.
As someone who's sunk *many* hours into both, they're actually really similar. It's just that Warframe focuses more on the RPG aspects while Destiny focuses on the MMO part. And yes, I'd call both MMORPGs. Disappointed you picked Hunter though. Could've been worse, I mean you could've picked Titan.
The main thing that hurts destiny is the fact it’s running on the old halo engine and servers and there are constant error codes and booting off the server
