Am i the only one who wondered where the Navy was while hundreds of mountain sized beasts stampede? Cuz if thats not a good use for orbital bombardment idk what is. Why did the god machines have exactly 0 air support?
I have an answer which comes from Faith & Fire; the Canonese of the Order of Our Martyr Lady had to contact the Navy for assistance. There are certain Navy cadres that have a disdain for the Imperial Guard & vice versa in Ciaphas Cain: For the Emperor.
Hah.... obviously the op Dinos would create a fart shield that would rebound all bombardment back into the navy, utterly destroying it... nothing can beat op Dinos that could be breed to easily conquer all of 40k in a 100 years time... hur dee huuuuurrrrrrr!!!
Warlords were equipped to take on melee oriented savages in relative low numbers and soft, non or barely armored beasts, not a kin to Tyranid bio titan with superior agility and fucking CQB plasma weaponry....Its not insane leadership just didnt prepare properly to all alternatives. If they had armed them selfs with Sunfury Plasma Annihilator and Arioch Power Claw as pr+imary weapons and two Reaver Gatling Blasters as carapace mounted secondaries, this would not end in defeat..again. One never underestimates enemy and can never have enough dakka to take them down. Sunfury would worked on longer range, enabling longer bombardment, letting enemy do the leg work. If this bombardment would not achieve desired result, power claw would improved titans close quarters abilities. Additionally two or three warhound titans would been perfect to rapidly move on the beasts flanks, or even bait them, while having titan class firepower to bear if enemy beast would get too close to warlords. Also well suited against infantry and scouting purposes... though talking about scouting, why task force didnt have any airsupport? Few Marauder bombers would been exceptional to bomb shit out of the beasts even before titans got close and could been used as scouts. I think titans would not even needed if first task force had air support. Eventually they would hit something vital and could do that far longer distances. This didnt happen so with suitable weaponry, in optimal situation first plasma round would have decimated beasts into bloody pulp and titan could have just walked next to it and give it a little stab stab with power claw as show of force, is possible lift the corpse up and smack it into ground again as finishing move. After that reaver gatling blasters would have made easy pulp of savage infantry... except two intentionally left survivors, from one would be captured and interrogated for any intel about locations of natives, potential archio tech sites and etc, while second one can run back to village, troops closely on visual distance, while scouts are sent to the both sides circling main settlement to prevent anyone fleeing, secondly to let them know what will happen if they resist. Obviously almost all of the village will be executed for their crimes against Imperium, but could use couple locals as informants and translators, to convey how big of a fuck up they made on attacking Imperium forces and further more torturing them to dead... All other villages who do not want to fuck up are lovingly implemented into Imperiums big hug! Breeding these beasts as Imperiums own biotitans would not be bad idea really, long as kept away from tyranids, chaos and maybe orks Just imagine turning them into servitors, mounting more armor and weapons, installing fail safe method of igniting creatures plasma generator thingy if there is no friendly unit with in X distance, or set command is sent (so orcs cannot capture and breed them) and setting horde of these on Tau planet, or necron thumb world :D
@@Hellsong89 my amigo, your response is well thought out and insightful however what if and it’s just a possibility this fun short story is just a reference to dune and the sand worms lol giant beasts no one would expect could be tamed that are literal furnaces, a wild people larger in number and far more skilled in battle despite primitive weapons lol
I’d deploy the Ravenguard. They could completely decimate the tribes in hit and run raids while using jump packs to get on top of the dinosaurs and massacre the tribals controlling them. Once their dinosaurs are taken from them, they don’t stand a chance. If that plan was somehow thwarted, the ravenguard could use their stealth to infiltrate and paint targets for orbital bombardment. I doubt they’ll be able to take sustained cyclonic torpedo volleys
…or just bomb them from orbit they clearly don’t have orbital superiority cause if you have enough clearance to ship titans down you have enough clearance to bomb key targets just a few magma shells with 30-50km damage radius and bob’s your uncle
@@sergio9669 True, but I'm assuming the planet's biosphere is very valuable, hence why they bothered landing in the first place. The only reason the principe was calling for exterminatus was because his feelings were hurt over the death of his titan

That still doesn't solve the potential issues of the creatures being bred and taken to other worlds for war. It could be devastating granted I don't think they would be able to do anything on standard gravity worlds or worse.
Someone must have took a bear and used it as princeps apparently all you need is an high enough willpower soo theoretically anyone can be a princeps as long as you have high willpower plus titans tend to take part of the personality of the princeps
ib4 in pronunced "prinseps" i dont speak latin but as i understand from history stuff its "PinKeps". Happy to be wrong, but this is somthing i have had in my head decades.
In latin princeps pronounced prinseps not prinkeps, words derived from it are prince, principal. Nope I was wrong and my latin teacher would kill me, since it's from the old Italian *priisemokaps, primus (first)+ ceps (keps)(catcher).
Da Cheese yeah I know man but I believe they are anglicised. The title is pronounced prinkeps because Latin doesn’t have the c sound hence Keizer for ceaser
And in this story of "the imperium loses again" we see two 100 foot tall robots with enough fire power to eviscerate a few cities with armor so strong it could probably survive getting hit by a mountain and void shields that could liquefy a mountain get utterly and totally destroyed by a handful of LITERAL CAVEMEN. ... Cant wait until the next installment of "the imperium loses again" where we see a army of Emperor titans, a full battalion escort of shadowsword variants and Grey Knight Terminators get entirely obliterated by Clifford the big red dog by accident.
I dunno these sound like DaoT bio-constructs what with the bones of steel and whatnot just....degraded over the millenia to a shadow of thier former selves and controlled by humans totally sundered by the age of strife and rendered ignorant and cast off thier lofty perch. Maybe?
this is a universe where in space fungi can build space ships from scraps and held together by their collective stubbornness so having dinosaurs beat titans isnt so strange
Markus Nävergård except the caveman are even less advanced than the orks... the way they ride the dinosaurs is by pounding nails into their heads. And the titans are giant indestructible robot machines imbued with the power of a c'tan that can destroy entire countries with their appartment sized cannons and house sized bullets...
bring 2 titans and 0 recon teams. Seems legit. Also stone-age village capable of housing several 1000 of people. Man their agriculture must have been quite advanced. The book can be only as good as the knowledge of its author.
There's explanations for it, the cave "people" might not be as resource demanding as an actual human, due to mutation, or they could be living underground with only a few buildings visible. Not like this is their first time dealing with titans, after all, they probably survived the orks using some less than obvious tricks. Also, I imagine having giant alien pets probably helps them hunt food much more easily than our ancestors, who could only rely on agriculture to support large populations.
This was exactly what I needed while working on my Admech army. Omnissiah bless this ravaged battle text. Best ending. *shakes fist at sky* EXTERMINATUS!!!!
Hahaha- I still have the old issue of White Dwarf (it’s #117 from 1989- I got it when I was in high school) with that as the cover- I always loved that 40K take on the famous “Scarface” picture from the movie. “Say hello to my little bolter friend!” I’m so glad I saved at least some of the issues I had back then- I just wish I had saved them all. I’ve made it a point to get all of them since I got back into the hobby in January 2017- I’ll be 44 tomorrow, so I don’t have anyone saying “don’t waste your money on magazines and comic books and models!” Thanks for reading this for us, by the way- awesome work.
ABorder Prince Warhammer Lore haha, yeah, I’m an old fart, but I have really good taste! I really enjoy listening to you read these more obscure stories- most of them I’ve never heard of. Thanks again, my friend- keep up the great work!
Hahaha man, its crazy how well you do different voices for different characters, even their role in the universe is apparent to me by your voice. Really nail it. Men united in the purpose of the Emperor are blessed in his sight, and shall live forever in his memory. Clearly, The Emperor smiles on you, ABP. *Sage nod*
Muscular tribesmen, despite being a low gravity world. Creatures too big to live, handwaved away with mysterious grey bones. Skin tough enough to shrug off weapons for laying waste to cities. Plasma breath to "defend against predators" despite the creatures being way to big to have predators. Horns and tails that overwhelm void shields, and grind Titans to scrap. The Imperium pissing its pants and performing Exterminatus, despite seriously coveting the world, and a past history of bloody campaigns of stubbornness. No attempt to use air or space power against a completely land based threat. How in the name of the divine Emperor did this pass the desk of an editor, even at Black Library?
I presumed that they were bio-engineered weapons left over from the war against the Men of Iron. I presumed that was what they meant about the "gods sending them to defend against the shining warriors". I'm not sure it should make them titan proof, but it seemed like a half reasonable excuse.
It's absolutely ridiculous though, Titans can level hive cities in a salvo but can't kill dinosaurs rode by cavemen? And where was the air support and Navy? A solid bombardment from Imperial warships can destroy continents.
Archeosaurus vs Imperium who would win??? Edit - Guess we know what would happen now if Godzilla got transported into 40k if even these guys can take out titans
Love your work dude, I've just subscribed. I think the word you pronounced as "cone-ing" should be pronounced "conning" as in 'on' not 'own'. Given the context, conning screen etc, I'd say it's meant to be similar to modern naval usage, as in the conning tower of a submarine etc.
Little bit of chaos taint and damn we could have some serious lords of war! a little bit of slanneshi juices to increase the breeding rates. Awesome stuff
there is 1 thing i don´t understand, why not atack them with aircraft? if you cant kill them from the ground take some aircraft shoot the guys off the dinos heads and be done with it, i kinda don´t see the need for exterminatus here XD ,i mean maybe there is something im not seeing but just use bombers on them, or airdropp servitors on the dinos backs, or spacemarines with jump packs, there were a bunch of options there
Thanks for this, quite enjoyable!...although wouldn't it have been more fruitful to just send a frigate or two to bombard the heretical scum from orbit?

too bad that empire has no sniper titan, something small and agile to sit on top of a peak and head shot anything that moves across the entire continent with one good accurate shot of a battleship class weapon... one beast at a time...

@@TherealTenmanI it should be very interesting when you read for us. Pronouncing each and every word as correct as the Queen herself. What are you going to read?

@@ABorderPrince umm... Principal? I think those words have the same orgin, so pronounciation should be the same. Not linguist here, just never heard prinkepst before.
Terra 2021 have better spy satellites and weapons then 40k ? that can se giant Mountain that are moving and destroy the beast from out of line of sight, or form an aircraft 🤷♂️
Immediately committing two titans to completely unknown circumstances was idiotic, although I have a feeling that nothing was going to stand in the way of what the goal of the story was: Titans against Dinosaurs
Imperial Guard Captain speaks up, "Those beasts can't trample an aircraft. We should immediately construct airfields on the two uninhabited continents. Upon their completion, deploy Ratling squads to eliminate the tribal chiefs, elders and especially the mahout's. Then we send a constant stream of Maurders, Thunderbolts and Vendettas. The beasts collapse from a thousand cuts. Then fire an orbital strike. A beast that size is difficult to miss." Months from now, we'll have denied our enemies this world and these behemoths. The Imperium will possess all the beasts DNA.
