Mr In Charge is Roboute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines, one of the first legions of Astartes/Space Marines,(the big blue guys in the second vid are the Ultramarines Chapter in the first are the Crimson Fists chapter, the legions were split into chapters after the Emperor ”died“)and son of the Emperor. Fun fact: he is speaking to someone in this trailer, and he is kneeling in front of the Eternity Gate, the gate to the Throne Room, so he’s probably telepathically speaking to the Emperor. Roboute just woke up from 10K years of sleep after being wounded and found that the Imperium he and his family built became everything they hated, and he is the only of his kin that is alive as far as the Imperium knows, so he has to lead it.

What makes the 10th edition trailer even more interesting is that this is technically the first time we’ve seen the space marines on the back foot. Normally the poster boys are the ones who win the day or turn the tide like they did in the 9th edition trailer, but this time they were actually shown to be losing the battle on that planet

Dope, more 40k Also Georgie, the guy who you called the Emperor was _not_ in fact, the Emperor, he is Roboute Guilliman, the 13th _son_ of the Emperor, though currently he is effectively the reigning monarch of the Imperium Also Blood Angels are a faction of Space Marines, they're one of the 9 Loyalist Legions who fought for the Imperium against the forces of Chaos during the Horus Heresy Actually, speaking of, you should watch the trailer for the Horus Heresy a.k.a. Warhammer 30k, it's more or less the prequel to the current 40k canon

18:07 That robot thing they used is called a *Dreadnought.* If a Space Marine of note and ability becomes too wounded to be healed or to keep fighting, he doesn't go into retirement like a normal person. Their messed up, destroyed bodies are instead put into a sarcophagus inside the Dreadnought, which have advanced life support systems so they can continue to serve their brothers and the Imperium. They willingly do this because: "Only in death does duty end". As you can see they jump alot of levels in power and become juggernauts on the battlefield, Marines love fighting alongside them for the sheer fire power and mobile armour they provide.
@dj11o9er
@dj11o9er 8 месяцев назад
Space marines don't to into retirement anyways. If an Astartes doesn't get interred into a dreadnought, and are wounded enough to do so, they're just given 'the Emperor's Peace'. Euthanized, put down. And their gene-seed promptly gets extracted when possible just so that one marine can be replaced

A good start on 40K lore is Bricky's videos, they are funny and informative. Some of his videos are outdated but mostly accurate. Edit: Some folks saying some others would be better for a beginner, I disagree most of those videos are made for people who understand the basics of the universe or are not digestible due to the sheer length of said videos (Leutin). I still think Bricky's videos are the best way to get someone interested in a faction after that they can watch specific content about said faction.

@@alexrrobles there are a lot better lore channels. And bricky doesnt even do 40k lore, he is not a lore channel. Whenever people recommend bricky to a newcomer in youtube, you also never hear from that youtuber again most of the time. So this is the worst suggestion anyone can make. Forget lore videos, there are a lot of cool short videos about 40k like the ones made by sodaz, there are alternatives.
@ODDnanref
@ODDnanref 8 месяцев назад
@@randomdude8202 I disagree, if you are going to bring anecdotal evidence, I can point you to three channels that watched his videos and still do 40k reactions. However, other introductory videos can be "Islander &... I forgot. They are accurate and take about 1 hour to 30 min to explain a topic Issue is they get sidetracked so probably not good for reaction video. Baldemort is nice. Majorkill is all jokes so... Luetin09 is my preferred one, but short 1 hour videos is not really what you would consider light introduction.
@randomdude8202
@randomdude8202 8 месяцев назад
@@ODDnanref complains about anecdotal evidence, pulls out a confirmation bias. Just like the bicky I guess, he also cant introduce factions without adding his own bias. And there are shorter introduction videos to 40k, dont tell me you know this much but don't know any such videos. But the most interesting part is, how you completely ignored the second part of the argument about suggesting anything other than lore videos.

What's REALLY cool is the two characters from the start of the first clip, the 40k 9th edition trailer, are now the protagonists in a newly released animated series on WarhammerTV, the battle sister and the female guard who survives at the very start. Probably their best release so far and hopefully a sign of the quality to expect going forward.

As others mentioned already Brickys "All Factions" and "All Space Marine Legions" are a great starting point. They are fairly accurate with a little humor in it. And another recommendation form my side would be the "Helsreach" series/Film which is another piece of excellent contend.

The thing I do love about the second trailer still is how terrifyingly deadly it depicts the Tyranids versus the Space Marines. Even in the beginning when the Astartes are winning, the Tyranids just keep throwing wave after wave of troops at them because trying to run their opponents out of ammunition and overwhelm them is a strategy they actually employ due to their usual numbers. But when that doesn't work you see the Hive Mind switch tactics usings more specialized Tyranids to counter and take out big threats.

Glad you called out the voice artists in the first trailer. The woman's voice was Emma Gregory and the male was Toby Longworth. They're both long time collaborators with GW and have done absolutely tons of audiobooks. Emma Gregory does all the audiobooks that focus on the Sisters of Battle (or Adeptus Sororitas) that you thought were 'bad ass', so there's a nice symmetry having her do this trailer.

Great reaction Georgie! I've been into 40K for over 20 years, and the amount of lore this science-fantasy universe contains is *ridiculous* 😅 The female warriors in the first video are Sisters of Battle (basically nuns with guns), the robots are an ancient alien race called the Necrons, and the giant guys in blue armour are Space Marines (these ones are the Ultramarines chapter, led by Robute Guilliman, the leader/narrator in the second video), and the alien bug-dinosaurs are the Tyranids 😁

The only issue I have with the "9th Edition" trailer, is that logically it should've ended with the supporting barrage not by Sisters of Battle, but by the Imperial Guardsmen - these expendable redshirts who are dying haplessly in the beginning, but who still rise up to the challenge and duty, defeating the undefeatable solely by their overwhelming numbers and massed firepower.

The fact that you delve deeper into Warhammer 40k just like you delved into the Project Moon brainrot hole brings me joy. Though I wouldn't be a Warhammer 40k fan if I didn't mutate a pair of glasses and frontal teeth to represent the nerd emoji as I start blabbering about the setting. So, for you, G, and any of you watchers, this is a fast guide to what the hell is shown in these scenes. So, first cinematic. Some guys get evaporated by green rays. These guys are normal human soldiers of The Imperium of Man. The army of this Imperium is called Astra Militarum, because Disney copyrighted the term "Imperial Guard". This Astra Militarum is your normal, run-of-the-mill, standard regular army. Humans, tanks, artillery, aircraft and voidcraft. Of course, they have their own spec ops forces and specialized troops, but nothing too crazy. Also Regiments of the Astra Militarum can differ depending on which planet they are from. Snow planets, logically, give people that fight good in snow environments, this is the principle. Next is the badass lady in power armor. She is from Sisters of Battle, also known as Adeptus Sororitas. The whole organization of Sororitas is made of women, who fanatically follow the teachings of the Ecclisiarchy (word too long, will be Church from now on). In fact, these ladies are a private army of said Church. They are so badass that their belief in the God-Emperor makes literal miracles like resurrection possible. Also, they have access to power armor (although scaled down), the armor to which only the Space Marines have access to. And talking about Space Marines. The guy in big armor, who chainsaws the big skeleton robot and helps our Sister of Battle? That is the Space Marine. Their organization is also known as Adeptus Astartes, and Space Marines themselves are referred to as Astartes sometimes. These are genetically enhanced, mind-probed and fortified, ruthlessly trained from the young age super soldiers. The Emperor himelf (with a little help) made schematics for them, and thus they are recognized as His children, or more commonly, as His angels of death. They are not susceptible to fear or any of the common diseases, have 3 lungs, 2 hearts, and many new artificial organs made for them specifically. Unlike the Astra Militarum, Adeptus Astartes are used in more specific scenarios, like a super-SWAT or highly advanced Spec Ops department. Now, the bad guys of this first cinematic. I hate, just LOATHE how they were shown like a mindless horde, because I love this faction. These robotic skeletons are knows as the Necron. If you were to compare Warhammer 40K to fantasy setting, these would be your Undead. In the oooooooold times they shed their mortal flesh for the promice of immortality, got deceived by their gods, and then shattered them into shards to use as energy and weaponry. Necrons are so advanced, that they have a space map of the Galaxy, and if they snuff out a star on the map, it would be destroyed in the real world. The are SO advanced. After defeating gods, they went to sleep for 65 million years becuase fighting gods is no small feat, and it took its toll in body count. The Necrons decided they'd sleep and then wake up and then rake the galaxy as their own. Here they are shown as mindless and silent horde. Not incorrect, though hated by me. You see, any low level civilian in their society got robotic bodies of low quality, and because of that they became mindless automata following commands, and this is what's happening - a standard necron warrior horde against humans. The Lords though... they got top tier bodies, like the one you see at the end of the trailer impaling a Sister with his leg - the Skorpekh Destroyer Lord. He is very sentient, and as the name implies, wants to destroy. In the second trailer we see Roboute Guilliman, a Primarch and current Lord Commander of the Imperium. Primarchs are genetically created children of the Emperor Himself, made to be His generals. In 40k they are all gone (except the traitors), but now are slowly coming back, with Guilliman being the first Imperial Primarch, and the Lion being second just recently. The fight is between Space Marines again (they are the main poster boys after all) and Tyranids. Tyranids are bizarre horrors from the Dark Between the Stars. They are aliens in the literal sence - they came from outside of our galaxy, driven by the hunger. They eat EVERYTHING. Meat, bone, grass, even water, even microorganisms in the air - they are ever consuming wave of locusts with a sole purpose in mind. To eat. And they do so by making everything a biomass soup. Even their own fighters and organisms return to soup after fighting. Where they strike, only barren rocks remain.

So basically that green beam of energy is known as a necrom gauss flayer, which essentially works similarly to that of a swat wars disintegration rifle, where the target is hit with large amounts of energy, to the point where the molecular bonds starts to break, essentially resulting in the target being destroyed on an atomic level, all the while the unfortunate targets entire nervous system is activated all at once, eg imagine being set on fire for about a year and then condense all of that pain and experience into a span of a nanosecond and that’s what it feels like to be hit by a guass flayer.

There has been a pretty big shift in the tone of the lore from 9th and 10th edition which the trailers hint at - in 9th its very "for the holy God-Emperor of Mankind" which has been the main sort of theme for humanity in the lore for since 2nd edition with a whole empire spanning cult worshiping The Corpse Emperor as a true god. In 10th edition a very powerful figure that fought side by side with Emperor long ago returns, that is the commander talking in the trailer and he knows that what the empire has become is every the Emperor hated and was actively fighting against as the Emperor who is now worshipped by a dark ages like fanatical cult was in fact extremely anti religion and wish to spread the "Imperial True" which was about science, learning and understanding AND War but only when diplomatic means failed.

The Xenos, the mutant, the heretic. Xenos is aliens which includes the Necrons (the robot skeletons from the 1st video) and the Tyranids (the bug alien dinosaurs from the second video). Both of these 2 are probably in the top 3 external threats to humanity in this series. Plus several other major aliens species, with Orks probably being the 4th biggest external threat. Also these Orks aren't like Orks from Lord of the Rings, in this universe they're literally a species of Sentient fungus in bipedal form, and like fungi are nearly impossible to ever fully get rid of. Elder, basically space elves, are a nearly extinct species but while not a top 5 threat are definitely still a threat. Then Tau, that are the new alien species rising on the opposite side of the galaxy from humanities core Imperium and stealing worlds from them. The mutant isn't like X-men where humanity is improving but more like certain worlds/aliens/demons changing humans into a different species and that causing them to break away. Now, there are certain allowed muntant species of humans too. I think there's around 30, and all are useful to core original humans. The Heretic at its extreme conclusion are humans who have literally sold their souls to demons and want the rest of humanity to burn. However heretics are also humans who just say stuff deemed illegal. Both of which is punishable by being burned alive. Anyways in that second video, you saw a galaxy map split in half by a bunch of red stuff, then a planet being swallowed by a red cloud... yeah, that's literally the Hell of Warhammer 40k called the Warp bleeding into the material relm and destroying half the galaxy. This is the potential biggest threat to humanity, but numbers 2 and 3 are really close and cloud actually be the bigger threat. The heretic also shows that humanity isn't truly united in this galaxy, so it could be argued that humanity itself is the biggest threat to humanity too. Anyways to sum up the biggest threats: 1 (tie): Chaos (heretic), Tyranids (bug Xenos), Necron (robot Xenos), humanity infighting (heretics and mutants) 5: Orks 6. Eldar 7. Tau (but could rise as their technology is rapidly growing) Also the scale of 40k is insane. Galaxy wide about 10 million people die every second in this franchise... but humanity probably numbers in the quadrillions, so to them it's like for us with national/world news channels deem it too unimportant to bother covering, so only a few local news channels deem it important. It's common in 40k for whole planets to be lost and Earth not even finding out about it until 300 years later.

Those women in the beginning are the Adepta Sororitas, they are the ultimate holy warriors. They worship the God Emperor of Mankind, beloved by all, and their faith is so strong they can fight off warp demons attempt at possession. They literally drop churches from the skies on their foes. Keep in mind the humans aren't the good guys, they seek to purge every other sentient species and any of different belief from the galaxy. They often purge entire planets in this process. In the time of the Emperor some of his primachs, like the Space Wolves, would purge a world if just one person refused to follow the Emperor.

From what I’ve seen, you actually like reacting to Warhammer 40K and like the good voice acting for it. I would recommend the Astartes Warhammer video. It has little to no spoken word at all. I think only a single word was spoken for the entire video and it gives it different kind of gravitas. The lighting, camera angles and lore friendly details makes it a must watch for anyone wanting to get into animation. One guy made the entire thing bit by bit on the weekend over a 4 year period. I’m sure that everyone would love to see a reaction to Astartes.

The first trailer shows the Imperial Guard (the poor souls getting Gauss Flayers to the face), the Space Marines, and the Adepta Sororitas-the Sisters of Battle. Each army has their own unique gimmick, but the Sisters have one of the coolest. For the Guard, it is overwhelming numbers and overwhelming firepower. For the Space Marines, it is their superior arms and armor, genetic engineering and fanatical devotion to the Emperor. For the Sisters, who are hardcore nuns with guns, faith-literal religious faith in the Emperor-is their greatest weapon, and it can cause literal miracles to happen on the battlefield (and this is also reflected in the tabletop game as well). The second video had words that can get you done in for “heresy” in the Imperium, which is made much more ironic by who is making the speech: Robute Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines chapter and Lord Regent of the Imperium. He is the man currently ruling the whole Imperium, and his tone is cynical and defeatist. When Guilliman awoke from his stasis and returned to the Imperium, one of the things he said was that “it would have been better that the Imperium burned in the flames of Horus’ rebellion,” not because he hated the Imperium but hates what it has become: when he walked with the Emperor the Imperium was a shining arcadia of progress and science, and it has regressed into a nightmare of ignorance and fear. Today the Imperial Truth is not what Guilliman is loyal to, but the idea of the Imperium: mankind’s rightful place in the stars, and raging against the awful darkness in stubborn refusal to dwindle away into ash and silence.

That last trailer with the thor dude and the big guy who got ripped in half? It's a big current event in the timeline, The Imprium's most recent crusade into the Imperium Nihilus (The half cut off from the Golden Throne) got interrupted. A numver of tyranid hive fleets have invaded the galaxy from the other side. so, in a desperate attempt to halt the tyranid advance in time for proper military forces to arrive, Guilliman (The current leader of the Imperium) Ordered that every elite group that can travel quickly is to split off and go stop the tyranids on thousands of worlds. so, they have thousands of elite squadrons showing up on worlds COMPLETELY outnumbered and fighting a hopeless battle just to slow the tyranids down. Essentially, the imperium is sacrificing their best and brightest to try to save everyone.

Oh, boy. The Victory speech from Roubute Guilliman. Primarch, thirteenth son of the Emperor. He was considered one of the most boring primarchs. He is the huy that will file the paperwork in advance, preparing the supply lines for the heroes that fight in the frontlines. He is the guy who does management, the accountant. He now is in charge of picking up an empire from 10k years of religious dogma and technological regression. Where his father tauted the imperial truth, now he has to deal with fanatics worshiping him as a god. Where there once was a well oiled machine, now sits a bureocratic mess. Where humanity could deal with their own problems, now they expect him to pull miracles out of his...ahem. He hates that he needs the religious fanatics to keep morale up in the frontlines. He hates that he has to let the lies flow so that he does not lose support. He hates that he is questioned at every turn by old men set on their ways, too suspicious of another betrayer primarch that he cannot push for reform. People say he is the primarch of the Ultramarines, and now he has ultradepression. Being the first to come back certainly has given his character some more depth. Hopefully, he will not be alone for long.

Darling, nice reaction, as usual very enjoyable. I recomendt u to watch the videos of Bricky: All factions, what is a 2 parts video of enourmos length but u will definitley enjoy it and u get tons of lore ablout everything u saw already. And afterwards every space marine legion in a nutshell. Besides being very entertaining it is delivering more insight into the Space Marines and CHaos Spacemarines. Well u saw already how awesome they re and in the official cinematic made by Games Workshop, they seem like normal big dueds in thick armor. But in Astares (Thats the original name of space marines, so it would be Astartes and Chaos Astartes) they re shown how horrifying those soldier truly are. Nothing anyone wants to mess with. Well there are worse enemys outside in the Warhammer universe but for other reasons. U may regret to know it haha. xD

The man they call the god emperor was once the head of the entire empire, who over time his people began worshiping him as a god, the more people worshiping him the more powerful in spirit he becomes, the religious was originally called the lectitio divinitatum (might have spelt it wrong) I first learnt of it in nemesis (I think, correct me if I’m wrong everyone), he is the father biologically but in genetical modification of those called primarchs, there are 20 of them two have been lost to history half of the remainder turned on the emperor, the voice in the second trailer is one of those primarch he’s over 10 thousand years old although he was basically dead for all that time

the way the VA nailed that last "victory" his peopl and his sons (the ultramarines) are being slaughtered while barely holding the line in mind numbing numbers while he tries to hold together what his father the emperor, his brothers and legions had built but is now a rotting corpse of everything they fought against..... To know this story, in particular, its about humanity's last stand its important. We are not winning, even tho we are a super powerful, galactic spaning species. Also there is no good guys in this universe. To live inthe 40k universe, truly sucks. Check Bricky's, great intro to the universe. BTW that guy is not the Emperor, but his son. His avenging son more specifically. A very important character in the universe, his name is Roboute Guilliman and he leads the poster boys of this IP, the Ultramarines, sons of Ultramar, segmentum Ultra in the galactic map. Referred as Ultra smurfs by some, regardless the Imperium, without the Ultramarines or Roboutte would have collapsed long ago. But I digress. Cool vid, cheers lass.

The first enemies, the Necrons, are an ancient race that predates humanity. They were tricked into trading their mortal bodies for machines and used in a war between a god-like ancient species and a species that eats stars. They ultimately turned on their masters, won their freedom, but suffer an eternal life of no sensation. The ones that still have their consciousnesses from when they were alive, for the most part, want to find a way to get their flesh and blood bodies back, even if it means they will grow old and die. They hibernated in their crypts for eons, until a tech priest did an oopsie poking a glowing green thing and woke them up. The second enemies are the Tyranids, a race from outside our galaxy that exists in massive hive fleets controlled by a hive mind consciousness and exists only to find biomass, consume biomass, adapt new bioforms, and move on. They are a fully inhuman, unknowable enemy. While there have been a couple of vague hints at a true consciousness somewhere in the hive mind, there has never been a single bit of dialogue from the hive mind's perspective that I'm aware of. They find a world, invade it, kill any resistance, digest every living thing into massive pools, then suck up those pools and the world's oceans with their ships in orbit and move on.

There is a lot of inter faction conflict in 40K so when people are talking about the Chaos Gods (the big 4) are fighting each other, that's all just the Chaos faction beating each other up. The Imperium has it's own The Emperor and the Sisters is kind of tricky. Mainly the faith the sisters follow is very hypocritical and in a lot of ways, directly contradicts what the Emperor stood for. But on the other had there is a lot of examples of the Emperor displaying god like powers and the sisters praying to him does have real effects in the form of miracles so it's kind of obtuse and up to you what you want to believe. There is more to it, like how the warp works and such which is a whole thing but the faith thing is pretty grey. I think the other thing is when you lot at the second trailer, it's space marines vs tyranids but more specifically it's Ultramarines. When you look at space marines, there are different chapters, Ultramarines, White Scars, Blood Angels to name a few. GW likes to us Ultramarines because mostly they are pretty much the default in tactics. Like if you choose the Blood Angels, they lean to close combat heavily and have some unique quirks that would probably come out in something like this which might make it more confusing. The guy in the second trailer is Roboute Guilliman. He was the first loyalist primarch (one of the Emperor's sons) to return to the 40k landscape. The Emperor can't leave his throne on Terra and hasn't for the last 10,000 years.
