I forgot to mention my Freeguild Cavaliers! They are built and I started painting two of them. Once my fusiliers are done then I'll go back to working on them 😁.

This is why I play Warhammer. Not playing the best meta-list and winning , but for being creative and telling fun narratives. It’s a hobby and I think people forget that sometimes. Watching your journey into this wonderful game is incredibly wholesome! Keep up the good work and stop getting concussions!

Thank you lionman! Working super hard on the not-getting-concussions part xD. I am really excited to play more games, but what excites me most is trying some narrative play and Path of Glory :D

Best painting tipps for eyes is look out for old cheap bits of other hobbyists, for example catchan, or AM - heads in general. And paint just them. 10-20 and u got it out, i promise ❤

Dude I just got into WH as well! Very cool to have my own journey mirrored. One thing I know I can help with as it has been a game changer for me - magnifying headset - can't stress enough how much they will help. Keep it up - and dig the lava bases

Hey! Pumped to be on this journey together. I'll look into the headset, I hear you can go buy dollar store reading glasses and they can help a lot too.

Thanks for the comment and compliment! I still think I can improve a ton but I'm glad that the models are looking good on the table.

Looks good! The Alchemite Warforger ability really felt too strong when applied to ranged weapons. Abilities that are on that power level usually only apply to melee weapons. Cities of Sigmar still have a lot of cool tricks. If you haven't already, make sure to look into the Freeguild Command Corps, Wildercorps Hunters, and of course Steam Tanks. I've painted about 10 Battletech mechs in total. I got myself the Stormcast half of the Dominion starter set for Christmas. I've only painted two Vindictors so far and the Stormcast leader unit with a gigantic flag. A combination of not having as much free time as I'd like and taking my sweet time painting.

Appreciate the insight. I really want to get Freeguild Command Corps but I think my next purchase will be the Ogor with the fusilier on it 🤣. Honestly I want to get all the new CoS stuff. That's cool you are working on Dominion. I want a box like that with some terrain to get me started.

Man, Lumineth and Cities of Sigmar? You sure set the bar high for your first armies, these are some intricate minies to build and paint! You've done a very good job so far. I recommend not stressing too much about eyes, especially for the rank and file troops. A well-placed application of wash (Seraphim Sepia?) will get you enough shadows on the faces for the eyes not to be an issue. Remember than you will see them from a higher angle and at a distance. Sometimes less is more. You could however also use the troops as practice and try to have the leaders have some proper eyes. Good luck either way!

I didn't know Cities of Sigmar are a tough army to paint! I really love all the new sculpts. I am having a difficult time with the fusiliers right now though. I have them in 3 sub assemblies: heads, bodies with rifles, and shields. The head/shields are easy but the body is hard to do with the arms and gun crossing the body. I've decided to be messier with my red for the cloth and then I can paint details on top of it later. Appreciate the advice about eyes!

@@mysidia91 They read as hard to me because they are so packed with details, of the positioning of arms and shields as you mentioned, them being relatively small, etc. as well as the fact that you need quite a few of them to play the faction; they are "normal" humans in a world of monsters and gods. That being said, I love their more grounded look, they remind me of stuff from the Witcher. I look forward to see your results with the Freeguild Cavaliers, these guys are just gorgeous.

@@etiennegarant7545 You've captured part of why I love Cities so much. I love the idea of playing the regular humans in these crazy realms of beasts and daemons and undead etc.

Looking great! Looks like you are on an epic learning journey! I just want to point out that the bit underneath the barrel of the cannon, above the shield (that you painted leadbelcher), is sprue. Looks quit interesting with it though.

Looking good! Do you watch any RU-vid tutorials or are you just winging it? Looking forward to seeing more pieces! I've been painting 3D resin prints recently. The rise of AI killed my motivation to continue illustrating, so I decided to find a new hobby. I find it to be really fun. I did a 1/10th Alexstrasza first and a 1/6th Jaina Proudmoore after. Starting with a very detailed model was probably a mistake, but I learned a lot from my failure on that one lol. I find it way easier to paint the larger the model is. I need to paint some smaller Blood Bowl pieces soon, but they scare me with small and detailed they are.

So I do watch RU-vid tutorials and learn a bit, but they also make it look so easy and its not simple to just replicate their touch and brush skills so I do a fair a bit of learning by trial and error as well. Thats a bummer about AI and your motivation 😕 but very cool that you are painting models 😁. I'm super interested in seeing your Warcraft stuff. I really want to get some cool FF models myself

@mysidia91 Oh yea, they definitely make it look so much easier. I watch a guy named Grounded Effects for airbrush advice. He has some brush videos too. I started a Twit/X account for my FFXIV character a year ago. I went back to that account, and I started posting again tonight with my model painting. I started following you again on there so you can see them there if you want. I found someone who makes custom FFXIV character models for 3D printing. Waiting on them to finish mine up. I've also seen the Terra magitek model for that 10k+ statue. Tempted to give that one a go 🤣
