That's cool that you do the customer service for HHR. Ive always loved your label. Never a bad experience. And when mistakes do happen, (everyone makes them) you guys always make it right. Ive always felt like i could count on Hells. Take it easy J.
Man, you hit the nail on the head with Revenge. I really do love their sound, but I for real have a half a dozen or so CDs of theirs, and I feel like I pretty much only have one with different artwork. I prefer Conqueror, but they're pretty much the same band. I'm kinda surprised and also love the fact that you like Old Nick. Their blend of raw bm and insane yet catchy keys/electronics is absolutely infectious to me. I'll buy anything they release. And lastly, really cool to see you have a Believer CD, and their best at that. I made a comment about this on one of Reaper's videos about how you got into metal, but worth mentioning again. Aside from hearing Metallica from a friend sometime in 89/90, christian metal was my introduction to metal in 90/91 with thrash bands like Deliverance and Tourniquet. In 92 things opened up a bit more with my introduction to Mortification, Vengeance Rising, Circle of Dust/Brainchild, Believer and a few more minor acts. These bands were my introduction to the underground, so to speak. They showed me that there was music out there that you had to seek out, and not have presented to you via some bullshit "source" for new music. They also showed me the diversity and intensity that music (metal especially) can provide. It was so satisfying. Even as a child. I credit my mom for it since she is the one that started buying CDs and tapes back then. She kept it christian, but goddamn at least it was metal. That all opened the floodgates for me, and I've been a huge metal fan ever since. She would not approve of most things I listen to today, but I honestly don't give a shit what any band talks about. Lyrics mean very little to me. It's all about the music. It was a fairly atypical start for a metal fan, but it sure as fuck worked out in my favor imo. Thanks mom! Gotta leave some xtian metal recs for you in chronological order. Fuck the message, love the music: Warlord - Deliver Us (83) Trouble - Psalm 9 (84) Vengeance Rising - Human Sacrifice (88) Incubus - Serpent Temptation (88) Deliverance - Deliverance (89) Tourniquet - Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance (92) Brainchild - Mindwarp (92) Mortification - Scrolls of the Megilloth (92) Living Sacrifice - Nonexistent (crazy vocal style on this one) (92) Mortification - Post Momentary Affliction (93) Many other good ones, but these were formative albums for me aside from a few. Curious what you opinion would be on a lot of these. I'll end with a question. Including all musical items (CDs, LPs, tapes and whatever other formats you might have), what is your collection count up to? I mean, I see what's behind you, but I'm sure there's a ton more out of shot. Thanks for all the vids J-dawg, and thanks for all you do with HHR. You are much appreciated.
Victory.Intolerance.Mastery. is still the best one. Every album since then has sounded like that one. Only the early EP's and first album had a more oldschool 90's Conqueror sound.
Fun vids man. Definitely ain't got the time to watch all of them, but keep em coming. What bands have you heard recently that felt to you like they were pushing the envelope in some (good) way? Malokarpatan from Slovakia comes to my mind. The ingredients are all very old-fashioned, but the overall resulting sound is quite unique, recognizable and new to my ears.
I'm sure you've heard them by now but if you haven't, Antichrist Siege Machine is a newer war metal style band that has a lot more death metal influence and to me is pretty memorable. I'm glad to have found Abysmal Lord through Hell's Headbangers too since they are right up there with the classic bands of the genre for me.
I've really been enjoying Abysmal Lord and I feel each new release tops the last and refine their sound. They're fastly becoming my favorite up there with Archgoat and at times surpassing in my opinion. Antichrist Siege Machine is amazing as well. I wanted to mention Abysmal Lord but you beat me to it 😂
Great vid as always man…you’re becoming one of my favorite channels…lol…I asked this on an other vid, but I’ll ask again. What’s going on with Cursed Moon?…Any plans on a follow up to Rite of Darkness?…and a second question, what were your thoughts on Midnight going over to Metal Blade?…I was worried, but Rebirth By Blasphemy turned out better than Sweet Death and Ecstasy in my humble opinion…so yeah, still wished they were on Hell’s tho…later man
Listening to this album rn and ur so right😂thought everyone who liked them were just “true kult” dorks who will listen to anything brutal no matter how bad the song writing is & think it’s the most fuckin amazing brutal music ever made just cause there’s non stop blasts & decent vocals. but yea ur so right about how u can actually tell the songs apart in this album. there’s some really catchy parts as well which is a statement I doubt anyone has ever made about any previous revenge albums LMAO
Sick video man, was wondering, I'm in the young buck category (19 yrs) and all I wanna know since you run a label, what's your opinion on how other big labels such as Roadrunner, Nuclear Blast and Century Media run their bands and how they distribute their music?
As far as bands that are Christian Black metal. Crimson Moonlight, Sacraficum, Horde, and Antestor. The funny thing about Antestor is on one of their albums they had Hellmammer from Mayhem do the drums on it. Hellhammer said he didn't even know they were a Christian band 😅
The UK burial, the black metal band are amazing, saw them live in December and seeing them play again next month, their album satanic upheaval is really good. How about a video showing off your shirt collection, or just your favourite/offensive/whatever the hell you want, i think i remember in a hellcast episode you said you had over 200+ shirts so pulling them all out for a video could be annoying.
Thanks for uploading videos every day. Wondering your thoughts on Abigail? If you prefer their black metal or their party thrash stuff (Ultimate Unholy Death)
J-dawg, friendly suggestion, wondering if possible to put music on in backround during your show goddamit. If not, all good, no dramas. Props on the show.
Burial is from Massachusetts/New York and is still active. Their drummer from their last album is now the drummer on the new Pyrexia album. Now that I mention it, opinions on Pyrexia and or the new album?
J-Dawg, what is the reaction when a band moves from HHB to another larger, more major, or more "mainstream-ish" label? Do you regard it matter-of-factly as "that's just business," or does HHB try to offer a similar kind of package to the band, or do you negotiate some shared rights to release a limited edition vinyl or what...? I'm thinking specifically of a band like Midnight going to Metal Blade... (knowing Athenar is a friend of the HHB label). Have there been other occurrences? Is it a difficult situation to navigate; does HHB get into a bidding war, or does HHB just say "fuck it" and move on?
Ever listen to non metal genres yet, have influence on darker metal genres like how flamenco (and folk) may have on some black metal? I personally love Flamenco and Tango guitar!
Sorry, Brah. Didn't mean to keep asking lol. Just curious what you thought of music you have been sent. Appreciated the answer! Sending you and Reaper more cool shit soon!
I'm starting a moving company and just saved enough money to buy a older box truck 🚚 I also saw that you started a trash removal biz / how has business been is it profitable? Trash removal business is something I also looked into any pointers?
I got that same gore metal shirt. Sick stuff man think I might like slaughtercult a bit more. There some really sick Christian black metal bands out there, hortor from Mexico, horde form Australia, antestor from Norway, crimson moonlight from Sweden, holy blood from Ukraine etc. I remember my mortician songs by the movie samples. rabid, bloodshed, and silent night bloody night are some of the best. 🍻
do you listen to new wave or the British heavy metal byAtomkraft Satan diamondhead demon blitzkrieg Incubus from England not the bullshit Incubus not the crappy band
What's up J-dawg? I was curious on what your thoughts were about bands like THE LAST TEN SECONDS OF LIFE, LORNA SHORE, WAKING THE CADAVER, BLACK TONGUE, SPITE, AND SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL. What genre would you put these bands in? I know you're a fan of older death metal so you probably won't like it but I'm just curious on your thoughts. Stay brutal J-dawg 🤘🤘
@@justinhorval8491 Well, Lorna Shore is deathcore, and the singer from 'Black Tongue' was also in 'Infant Annihilator' , so I think the 'Death to Core' episode of Hellcast answers the question for ya.
