Andrew I usually enjoy your videos but I disagree with your analysis here. The factors you site are all true but they have always been true. If the methodology had been changed then there would be a story. The real story is the trend and that is clearly moving in the right direction. I see it in the report and also at every place I go. Here in Minnesota at least employers are begging for applicants and the entry level salaries are albeit slowly edging up. The gig economy isn’t healthy (no benefits and unreliable hours) but maybe that is why unions seem to be gaining members. As for people leaving the workforce - the baby boomers are retiring and not enough youngsters coming on board. All said I think the jobs numbers are very good. That said, please keep your wonderful videos coming. I find your honest and respectful approach to real estate refreshing. Too many treat it like a brutal war game. I just retired, plan to downsize within the next two years and hope to find an agent like you.

The current methods used make it look better than it really is in my opinion. Trust me, I was so excited on Aug 5th when the Jobs Report first came out. So on Aug 8th when I received the update from MBS Highway, I was stunned. So I spent many hours fact-checking the data and thought it would be useful for people to see, so I created a video. Great question Scot. From my understanding, its the same calculation. The concern I had and wanted to share with everyone is what IS NOT included in numbers. I believe the "latent" details shed insights into future movements in the US economy and housing market. Just because something is brought front and center or "calculated" based on a set methodology doesn't mean it doesn't exist. The purpose of this video was to highlight those aspects so that people might have better perspective on what a job report is and what it is not. That way they can better conduct their own research and put what they hear in major headlines in context. I'm hopeful our economy and all Americans to do well.
