My favorite part was that you were so focused on realizing what cherry pie meant that you didn't say a word about "I mixed up the batter and she licked the beater"
I've always known what it was a reference to but until about a week ago I didn't get _how_ it was a reference. I just assumed it was a taste comparison until.....oh, CHERRY..... _pieeeee_ ....fuck!
You're so cute and innocent. You had me giggling at you all through this. Thanks for the smile today. I agree with another poster that you need to react to Uncle Tom's Cabin.
He wrote this in one night as a fill in for the album . He married that girl . When they broke up he went into deep depression. I knew John aka Janie lane way back when. He was from Cyahoga Falls Ohio. Tragic story. RIP
@@peggysullivan6760 I've recommended that he listen to some Poison, my fave 80's band, even have the Poison logo tattooed on my arm LOL. I'd make due with Look What The Cat Dragged In, Talk Dirty To Me, Nothing But A Good Time, I Want Action, Fallen Angel, Unskinny Bop, Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Life Goes On, Something To Believe In, or I Hate Every Bone In Your Body But Mine (C.C. Singing) LOL.
Rebecca Vocal Athlete and Brosreact0151 have both done Steelheart and Skid Row. Modern Renaissance Man did a few, but otherwise yeah it's pretty much been neglected. That's the result of MTV blacklisting the entire genre in '92. They really haven't had mainstream visibility since. I've met many under 30 who don't even know it ever happened. Never heard of even the biggest bands!
Hahaha.. my poor naive wife falls for that Pearl necklace bit every time. If it weren't for me explaining so he to her she wouldn't know the innuendo behind all her Fav songs.
"Giving the Dog a Bone" by AC/DC is really about giving a dog a bone. And the line "Let me cut your cake with my knife" is really about cutting a cake with a knife.
Ooh Rah! Yut! Yut! Devil Dogs agree to. Oh thanks for accommodating us on y'all ships. (Former 22d MEU, Swine '09, The dirty Nickle. Thanks to everyone for their service.
its really crazy when you realize...this song was actually played on the radio...and all over the place when it came out.....and no one realized what it was talking about????...
“Swingin' in there 'cause she wanted me to feed her..” “Licked the beater..” Pie falls in lap.. “She’s my cherry pie”, “tastes so good make a grown man cry.” Yup, that’s pie alright. 😁 RIP Jani Lane. On VH1's HEAVY: The Story Of Metal episode 3: "Looks That Kill," Lane expressed his regret for writing the song, stating that "I could shoot myself in the fucking head for writing that song." However, he later clarified that he had been under personal stress at the time of the VH1 interview, and had no ill feelings towards his association with the song: “Can I clear the air on that? They [VH1 producers] just caught me on a bad day. It was a bad moment-I was going through a divorce, my mom had just passed away, all this stuff was going on-and they sit me down in a chair and wanna start grilling me with questions, and I didn't wanna be there, so ... You know, push that interview to the side, I'm happy as a clam to have written a song that is still being played and still dug by so many people. It's hard enough to write a song, let alone one that sticks around.”
For the longest time, I didn't realize what this song was actually about until a few years ago. I wasn't even born when this song came out but I have listened to it a few times but never realized the innuendoes until now. 😂😂😂😂
This is one of their worst songs. The singer, Jani Lane once said "I could shoot my self in the f*cking head for writing that song". If you wanna hear some real Warrant, check out Uncle Tom's Cabin, Down Boys (for the best dance moves in metal) or I Saw Red
A little trivia: According to Jani Lane, the album was supposed to be called Uncle Tom's Cabin and Uncle Tom's Cabin was supposed to be the 1st single, but the record company said nope. They didn't hear a hit single in Uncle Tom's Cabin, so Jani went home and wrote Cherry Pie. The record company gave the thumbs up and it was released as the 1st single and everything became about Cherry Pie. He wasn't thrilled to say the least. I see a lot of requests here to react to Uncle Tom's Cabin. I think that's a great idea.
Ironically the record company had promo stuff made for the album ,which were little log cabins that had a t shirt and cd inside of it. They were made out of lincoln logs. I worked at a warehouse/distribution center for music /video tapes that went to places like Kmart. One of my jobs was sometimes helping the main guy who got stuff from the record companies and he had one . I wish he wouldnt have thought it was so cool then maybe i could have gotten it lol
The lead singer Jani Lane drank himself to death in 2011, unfortunately. And a lot of it seemed to have to do with all the ridicule he got for this song - which was never meant to be taken too seriously in the first place. Also, he was married to the girl in this video when it was made.
Now that was a hoot!! You really should do their Uncle Tom's Cabin song. Really good and much more on the serious side with a very cool swampy/southern gothicy vibe.
I was in wresting camp in high school and in the room next to mine someone played the opening part of this song over and over and over. Ask can't listen to this song all the way through, 26 years later lol
Back in the day! All the fellas drooling and rushing to the video on MTV as soon as the beat dropped-Drooling over the ever-so desired Bobbi Brown- Also Tawny Kattain (sp) in the Whitesnake videos! 💛🤘🏼✌️
A lot of 80s rock songs were full of innuendo, stuff that back in the 80s when I was a teenager I didn't get but then when I listened as an adult I got lol. A lot of them are quite dirty. Especially Prince's little red corvette.
I love cherry pie almost as much as a nice taco. While fresh is best with either the left overs can be just as good or better, as long as they havn't dried out or gotten mouldy.
Also the album was done. It was called Uncle Tom's Cabin I think. The record company didn't hear a hit like "Down Boys"off their first album. Jani went home wrote that in one night. Recorded it in 2 days and the record company loved. Next thing Jani knows the album is called Cherry Pie. He hated that song. I saw him in the late 90's at a casino. He went on a small rant about it. But would still perform it. R.I.P Jani
@@gabeackerman4964 Yeah I know he hated this song. Mainly because it got so popular. He didn't like being remembered for that song alone. While they have much deeper songs.
@@gabeackerman4964 Man I feel soooooo bad for Jani because of this song. I've never been a big Warrant fan but I liked this album... (and really appreciated Ode to Tipper Gore) and when I heard the bit on the VH1 show, what he had to say about this song, it's pretty sad. "All the sudden the album is Cherry Pie, the single is Cherry Pie, I'm doing cherry pie-eating contests... my legacy is Cherry Pie, everything about me is Cherry Pie, I'm Cherry Pie Guy..." yeah he got pretty dark after that.
After about 16 years I'm trying to get the piece of cherry pie back I had from high school especially after I talked to her and saw her in person about a week ago.
Since you got into hair metal Runaway by Bon Jovi would be great especially 2008 NYC version or motorhead's version of braking the law or vince neil's cover of paranoid
Clicked right away, smashed like button before video started. One of my all time favorite 80s bands. Loved their progression with every album release. Jani was very talented. Thank god I got to see them several times from 89 to 94. You should check out Bitter pill, Song and Dance man,Sad Theresa. I'll just quit , there are too damn many lol
Can you please check out Warrant Uncle Tom's Cabin? Jani Lane was so super talented. RIP Jani! P.S. Jani was married to the girl (Bobbie Brown) in this video and they had a daughter together.
Warrant absolutely HATED this song when they recorded it. But it was the biggest hit they ever had. They were kind of forced into making it by their label. The label wanted them to do a "pop" metal, or rock "anthem" song to compete with Love In An Elevator by Aerosmith, which was hugely popular. They wrote the song in about 15 minutes. If you want to hear some real good Warrant, check out Down Boys or Uncle Tom's Cabin.
What do you think Rock N Roll has always been about? Why do you think it's always been bigger than every other music genre? Why do you think people use the phrase 'rockn' for good time, and not jazzin' or rappin' or any other music genre..? Rock n Roll is universal.
LMAO! Thanks for the laugh and your service I see another branch teasing you in the comments....lol Please do November rain by guns and roses next!?😍😍😍
Good days; back when this song came out. My girl looks just like this chick in the 80's. Good video... I'm shocked you have no Skid Row on this channel. How about some "Monkey Business"?
