I took these videos one Tuesday after school while all the trucks were out trying to get the rest of my area finished. In this video we have truck 123 taking care of a large set-out by some dirty residents - all this rusted, heavy and loose material was scattered all over this nature strip. Then there is another shorter video of this truck servicing a few other piles, a single clip of 046 feeding on some sofas and a metal cabinet, then finally we have a full truck 122 struggling to get one last pile squashed in. @boochieboy814 That buffer bar is there for bins to hit during binlift... it stops them from flipping into the hopper, which reduces stress on the bin lip and potential damage.

@KennysTrucks URM just does the collecting side of the job and then send it to the Kimbriki landfill - apparently they sift through the material and recover the basics, but I'd have to see that happening to believe it. Best we do at URM is a seperate load of metal recycling at the start of the week.

@Binboy97 Up on the truck's rego plate... the URM trucks generally have "URM" followed by a 3 digit number.

@robinsonm08 Yes one of the two levers above the control console is used for manual packing. What's the grumble you're referring to?

If this is where I live they would have to hire a private company for that. we get 1 oversized barrel even back in the day when we could throw away almost anything if it wasnt in a bag or barrel it was left behind these guys went overboard cleaning this a holes yard hope he came out and tipped them

I've heard they have or might be getting an extension to the current contract, as the new services will not be ready for next year. When the region does go out for tender, I hope anybody gets it other than URM. It will be a very big contract to handle and only a large, sophisticated and professional contractor should be accepted to take on the work. In my eyes, this is between JJ Richards, Veolia, Cleanaway, SITA and Remondis when it comes to Sydney.

Nah these are strong compactors. Probably the way it was positioned in the hopper; the right cylinder copped more of the force seeing as it was sitting more to the right. We do recycle metal down under, but it depends on how environmentally responsible the contractor is, plus how strict the council is with recovery.

Whole darn assembly shakes at 5:12 as it comes down. Seriously, weak compactor if it has that problems with the wood items.

WTF are those guys doing wearing shorts with glass in the back of that truck? Where I am, the council provides tops and trousers with panels reinforced with Kevlar for refuse collectors to prevent injuries from glass.
