More dangerous is the educated man who knows how to fight than being simply one or the other. What a beautiful display of a man. He reminds me of my grandfather who was a WW 2, Korean War, and Vietnam War vet. But aside from being one hell of a fighter he was an educated, reasonable man. I miss this generation.

Gunsite '79. In 1984 I came home, at night, to find an armed burglar ransacking my house. The same old 1911 that went through Gunsight with me, and the training and confidence infused into me by Jeff Cooper, sent the burglar through a plate glass window.

His statement is the essence of why the USA has the second amendment: If the government doesn't obey its own laws who disciplines the government? Now you can say "we can vote"...yeah we can vote if we will, but what if the government doesn't like how we vote? What happens then?

Tyranny is defined as that which the goverment is allowed to have/ do, but the citizenry isn't. And you know what they founding fathers thought about tyranny.. It is *the* reason our founding fathers left England, to start a new life in this new land, in the first place. That's not to mention the things they did to finally break the chains which held them to the English crown

My pleasure CT. One thing I've discovered is that most people that join the Police or the Military are NOT motivated by skill of arms or the return use of force scale. I was incorrect to assume that all members are naturally interested in being their very best at dealing with highly stressful situations.

Excellent.I unfortunately have found myself under the gun several times. The last time was in 2013, when I was 57. I came out with bruises. Guy with gun also came out with bruises. But was arrested in hospital while police were taking my statement. You either have the mindset or you don't. Train your mind.

In regards to the performance of American / Colonial combatants during the Revolutionary War, Col. Cooper touched on it but didn't explain it. Possibly because he felt it was obvious, but, the Colonial Americans were not just practiced marksman. The Colonial citizen had grown accustomed to killing righteously (hunting) as a matter of survival. They not only shot better, they did not hesitate and they fired with intent.

Very impressive man; with an impressive resume. His emphasis on mental attitude, or warrior mindset is critical for self-defense. Like in asking the question, what if. If a person isn't mentally prepared, they're likely to be slow to respond to a threat. Time and time, and time again; ppl interviewed after violence typically say ... I never thought that would happen here or happen to me etc. Most ppl allow themselves to believe bad things only happen to other ppl. 🤔🤔
@Riflechair
@Riflechair Год назад
Most people find themselves trapped within the denial mentality because they have been conditioned to believe that the law enforcement community / government will be there for them at the moment of truth. Its a blatant lie that has been accepted into the common vernacular. Might as well believe that Superman is real.

Voting isn't the only fundamental liberty. Speech and assembly are only relevant if listened to. A government that doesn't respect or fear it's citizenry will become overbearing and oppressive. The 2nd Amendment is a fundamental liberty of importance because it provides the citizenry the ability to remove an oppressive regime and provides a pause to a regime that has not yet become oppressive. The '2nd' secures the rest.

Even in my 'born again' gun-friendly self, I can't go along with this. Good cops and good citizens want to kill felons is what I'm reading here. I just don't get it. You put a safety catch on a weapon for a reason. Similarly the human mind must be given procedure to ensure no misattributed discharges. I understand immediate response and the 'what if' preparedness for instantaneous action. I used to live in London and still visit frequently. So I do run 'what if' scenarios'. Possibly too many. With each scenario I confront the question that must be addressed - what if I'm wrong? Warriors don't have to consider that, ordinary citizens and cops do. Without a firearm the answers are all easy. With a firearm, not so much. All I'm hearing here is a group of people who feel frightened and anxious being persuaded that if they carry firearms they will *feel* better, more in control. And I'm sorry, that is not enough. (PS one of my you tube friends was recently shot dead by her lover; drugs involved, all vey ugly. One thing for your side, there was only a gun in the home because the lover had one as a security guard. Why he didn't lock it away at work I don't know. They were idiots - and you may remember, for me the Idiot Density Function rules. )

@brucebartup258
@brucebartup258 7 лет назад
yes, I did get that, thanks. And still my comment remains. but thanks for the response. I wonder . . . would you be interested in a little mediation? A young man of somewhat alt-right persuasion and I are engaging a formal discussion on "what are the prospects for peace on youtube" we're trying for a real cooperative constructive exploration. I need at least one ideally two mediators who can be mostly inert and consult sensibly and intervene if necessary. A feminist friend called Natalie G Alford might help me stay away from feminist thought crime but as she identifies black she will fine the young man quite intimidating, I think he might respect you. In case you don't know the problem is internet harassment directed some say by figures such as Sargon of Akkad of UK or Bearing of Australia. Harassment that recently chased Natalie off RU-vid (one I spotted, not for publication - certainly not repetition to Natalie ) read "who else wants to smash this arrogant bitch in the face with a ball-pein" 20 llikes IIRC before Natallie shut her channel down. The 'joke' being that it isn't actually a threat so the people who do this stuff THINK it's legal whereas a 'reasonable person' would say intimidation 'placing a state of fear, if persistent, harassment.. her 'crime' was to sing in delight when D. Trump turned away from a campaign rally in Chicago her home town. I'm afraid the young man I'm trying to talk to will hold that free speech is an absolute right and 'snowflakes' who don't like that can get lost, including Natalie. The gys that do this stuff get their news from the same sources you seem to be using. That is cyber warfare - and I let you guess which country is behind it. This is the warrior mentality turned online. Wanting to kill, preferably by words. So this is why I worry so much about you. You are 10ft down the slippery slope, and the bottom of that slope is perfectly will educated sons of surgeons and physicists threatening black, muslim and female, trans and other people. So that is the person I'm going to try to debate, who I have to keep off the topic of free speech, or talk gently in abstract. Maple Leaf Up?

Internet harassment? Were you serious when you posted this months ago?
@Tremulousnut
@Tremulousnut 6 лет назад
"internet harassment directed some say by figures such as Sargon of Akkad of UK or Bearing of Australia" - I think you are very much mistaken. They didn't direct harassment to anybody. It's one thing to comment about someone to an audience (news media do that all the time), it's quite another to say "go and harass these people for me", which is not what they are doing. And indeed, Sargon of Akkad would explicitly tell his viewers not to go after any of the people he mentioned in his videos. What their viewers do in their own time is the responsibility of those viewers. Assuming what she is saying is true and she had done no wrong, if nasty comments are enough to get her to shut down her channel, I'm not sure how she's going to handle real life. It just sounds like she made a public comment, and people made some public comments back to her. Not everyone is going to like you, and sometimes hurtful comments have some truth to it. Free speech should be an absolute right (as long as it's not a cal to violence), because you have no idea the slippery slope speech control becomes.
@texasbeast239
@texasbeast239 4 года назад
He doesn't really talk much about "fear". He mentions becoming aware of an immediate threat against one's life or safety, and NOT being too afraid to react effectively. So I'm not sure how the OP could be under the impression that Cooper was talking about fearful people being ready to kill. He doesn't even say that you should get a gun to feel better about yourself. The cops who missed at close range had guns, but were too stressed out by the situation to react effectively. He says you should get a better mindset or attitude to feel better about yourself. Recall the story of the unarmed woman taking the robber's gun out of his waistband and shooting him with it. She was brave BEFORE she even acquired the gun. And THAT is what he was talking about--gun or no gun.
