You brought Luther and his stay at the Castle to life for me! Thank-you. What a lovely family you have.

First time is always a learning curve. Love seeing everything and what a great home to stay in. The weather looks perfect.

Oh yes, there were learning curves with everything 😄 We stayed in a lot of different rental homes in our travels this year and we'll show a few more of them, but this one was definitely our favorite. Yes, the weather was gorgeous! It was a little hot on the day we visited the Wartburg, but it's hard to complain when it's otherwise 75F and sunny everyday.

This was super cool because we are reading a book for homeschool in which the characters got trapped in this very castle in Martin Luther’s room!

Oh wow, I love it when it can hit home like that! That's not a large room to be stuck in 😄

Btw the Gap between two separate Mattresses @3:30 was called "Besucher-Ritze" = "Visitors-Gap" in the old Days. It literally describes what happens when a visitor, most of the time a relative, visited the family. He had to sleep on that Gap in the middle of the Bed because the Houses were small and a Bed was a luxury item. I remember from my Childhood, that also little Children, who couldn't sleep, were put there between the parents. :)

Interesting, I hadn't heard that! We thought it had something to do with it being cheaper and easier to buy smaller mattresses. Which would make sense why it seems so common in hotels especially 🙂 Our baby definitely spent the night in one of those cracks!

Wartburg is truely great when there is an interest in Medieval times. But the most astonishing Burg/Castle in that regard = "Original Medieval Castles" was for me "Burg Hochosterwitz" in Austria which is a big medieval fortification located on the very top of an "steep rock" basically "a fortified little village within the walls" protected on the way up with 14 gates...got sieged several times during the times from the 11th century till to the 18th century but never got conquered

We hadn't heard of that one! Looks pretty amazing. Have you visited the Veste Coburg by chance? That's another massive one that we've visited in previous visits but never made a video on...actually, there are tons of awesome castles in Europe. We'll have to add Burg Hochosterwitz to the list of ones to see 🙂

@@NeverStopAdventuring I know the Veste Coburg...I also know that it was architectural modified several times between the 17th century till 20th century and actually most parts of the building stock today are from the 19th century and has for instance "neo gothic style" (= the chapel) and "romance style" (roof torrets)..also some buildings inside were "new build" as well due to the fact that the castle was used as prison complex for a while, then after that used as a mental asylum for a while. So from the Medieval times is actually not that much left anymore. When you visit Hochosterwitz I suggest to schedule the visit when they have their "Medieval festival" in summer, might be also huge fun for the kids.

Yep, a great many castles were modified quite a bit over time... We honeymooned through western Austria many years ago and need to go back!
