Was Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate As Good As I Remember? 

Honestly, this game needs to be remade or something to make it look and feel like an Arkham game.

I liked the right off the bat pun, lol. At least it was only 4 hours long. Nothing's worse than a bad long game. I also liked the shorter format of the video. It allows your personality to show a lot more!

I actually enjoyed! Especially the dead shot boss fight, we probably get the most character development out of him in here.

Honestly, graphically this looks much better than I expected. Never played this, never heard of it really haha. Nice concise breakdown though, I feel like the story could have something substantial, I've always liked the dynamic between Batman and Catwoman. Great video as always man , can't wait for knight.

The one thing I will respect about this game (besides a couple of cool boss battles) is that you can actually unlock the alternate Bat-Suits in the game instead of having to buy DLC packs for them. I don't think people called out the Arkham series enough for blatantly monetizing them, especially when PS4 Spidey showed how unnecessary it is. I think my favorite was the Beware the Batman skin. It was also the only way I could play the Adam West skin.

I don't know if there's a way to successfully translate the Arkham gameplay into 2D without changing it heavily. Having not experienced the gameplay myself, it looks like Blackgate's combat tried too much to feel like the main series combat without adjusting enough for the new perspective. Add to that the backtracking and story issues, and it's pretty easy to see how Blackgate is often disregarded.

I like this game because it expands on Batman's early years. More specifically his third year

The only credit I can really give Armature for is that they did all the art, animation and programming from scratch.

Honestly, I love it. It was technically the first Arkham game I owned, while not being the first I played. By the time I got Arkham Knight (my second Arkham game), I had beaten this at least 5 times. Maybe more. I play every now and then, and I think they did the best they could with everything (except story). The backtracking in this game didn't really bother me, because I got to know the layouts of everything extremely well, know where everything is, and don't waste any time (unless I'm spending time getting the upgrades I don't really need, as in the health and damage upgrades). Of course, I already knew the story of all Arkham games including this one by the time I got it, but whatever. I don't really care. Also, the backtracking was also technically in Arkham Asylum, which is a very similar setting, being stuck in a prison taking down all the villains, even if this had significantly less of them. Either way, I enjoyed this game. The boss fights are underwhelming, the predator sections are way too easy, the combat can be bad in cases, and the mediocre story, all lead me to want to dislike it. But the case files (although not as good as case files in the other games, namely Arkham Origins), were still fun to piece together (except for finding all the clues) and read about the different characters and figure out what happened before, during, and after the explosion at Blackgate. And like I said, this was also technically my first game, so I might like it because of that, but at the same time, there's no nostalgia for it. I only got it a couple years ago.

i never thought of using the zip line for joker, to beat him id use the sticky bombs on the floor and detonate when hed walk over it and hed get stunnded long enough for me to catch him.

It’s so weird how heavy handed they were going with the suicide squad thing and rocksteady ended up getting it instead

Just completed it today for the 1st time. I would say I enjoyed it very much but I don't think I'd play it again , worth a play if you get it on a good sale but like the idea of a metroidvania batman game.

I couldn't do it man. I tried to play it and I just couldn't do it. Everything you found issue with I felt too. I stopped playing after maybe like an hour.

For what it is, it's pretty decent. It's not in the same league as the mainline games, but it's a decent Metroidvania, one of the better one's out there imo. I first started it on the 3DS and then recently moved to the Vita, because it just looks better. I really wish they made a 3D Arkham game on the Vita. Here's hoping the port the series including this one, to the Switch.

I didn’t like this game the first couple of times I played it, but when I forced myself to actually sit down and finish it, I had grown to appreciate it for what it was. I ended up beating it again one or two more times after I beat it the first time. The weakest part for me by far was the game being halted every so often to try to sell me a Suicide Squad game I never wanted. Sunk cost fallacy or is the game actually ok? Hard saying

Batman Arkham orings blackgate was just okay I liked the story it was better than Arkham Knights I liked the cutscenes and yeah everything else I really didn't like but it would go in my number 4 spot in my Arkham games ranking

Great video, but I feel the - perhaps annoying - need to correct you on one thing. Arkham City and Origins both had mobile ports. Blackgate is the only *original* portable Arkham game.
