Was Batman Arkham Knight As Bad As I Remember? 

I also didn’t think the batmobile killed the game, just was squeezed in too often. And the ending with scarecrow was too awesome. The classic I AM BATMAN line brought chills to me and I bet it would again if I played it.

The Arkham Knight reveal was a surprise for me. I never expected Randy Orton behind the mask.

Bit late but, 2:13 that officer actually doesn't die. He is the single officer you see in the GCPD cell around the beginning of the story near the entrance. Hes later found in one of the offices

it's the only arkham game i played 100% more than once. Tanks could be less frequent but other than that one annoyance the whole game is what i expected to be. It's the next logical step. Bigger open world, usable batmobile, better stealth, better combat, and more importantly, more mark hamill

Rocksteady never ignored Origins. When they said that Knight is the end of the trilogy they probably meant the trilogy that they made, but it doesn’t mean that Origins is not canon, since there’s a ton of references made to that game, and you can even see the origins buildings from wayne tower across the gotham bay

When I was 12, for some reason, I became obsessed with Batman to the point where I wanted to be like Batman. That was around the time this game came out and this game helped fuel that desire. I wanted to get this game so bad, but because I wasn’t 18, my parents said I couldn’t get it. It might be time to get it now.

I haven't played Arkham Knight yet, but from what I've seen of it, it looks like a solid Arkham game that just didn't quite reach the "epic finale" that a lot of people were expecting. It tried to be that, but I guess for many, it didn't live up to the hype. But I am excited to see what Rocksteady's next project will be. They've got an impressive library already thanks to the Arkham series, but I'd love to see what they can do with a new IP. This has been a fantastic retrospective series, man! It was awesome reliving this series and hearing your thoughts on the games and franchise overall.

I still maintain asylum as my favorite game. The others are great, particularly fond of Origins after replaying it, but asylum is just special to me. This was a great series breakdown, can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!

I love the opening 45 minutes of the game. The atmosphere feels absolutely amazing in that section. Unfortunately, though still fun to play, the tank sections and the overall story / atmosphere quality dropped a bit. Still, I loved the game. Blast to play, but I think I prefer the other three. Still, I absolutely love all of these games, there’s really no criticism here. You nailed this review, and I will say this channel is underrated as heck. Thanks for this vid!

Only thing I hated about AK is lack of boss battles, wasted opportunities with Deathstroke, forced Batmobile segments(The Riddler ones).

This game was great from day one (unless you played on PC). I wouldn't be surprised if it retroactively becomes the favorite among fans after more time has passed and people realize that they won't be getting more games like it from Rocksteady. It has the best version of Arkham, it has the pinnacle of the Arkham style combat after years of rocksteady working on it, and the Batmobile is super fun if you know how to use it properly and is also mostly optional other than a handful of pretty easy combat encounters (when compared to the amount of on foot encounters). This is my favorite Arkham game from the first time I played it and I played all these games for the first time all within a few weeks of each other so I wasn't full of nostalgia for any particular game in the series, so my opinion is purely based on the game itself.

Loved this game! Scarecrow has always been one of my favorite Batman villains. Up there with Riddler and Two-Face. I enjoyed the Batmobile stuff, especially the pursuits across Gotham. I always use the Dark Knight suit; I just can’t get enough of it. The combat is definitely the strongest of the four.

Asylum has the tightest story, city has the most interesting premise and knight has the best best bits but also, sadly, when it's the worst it's the worst. So All in all I think I love all 3 equally to be fair

The hand to hand combat, graphics, and stealth are wonderful and a huge improvement over Arkham City....... But the story, bosses, suck so much

When the fear-toxin spreads all over the city, I couldn't help but think of the PS1 Spiderman. When Doc Ock spread a gas over the city, but as an excuse to not have to design the city below.

When I was 12 I was so obsessed with Batman and I wanted to play this game so much, but I couldn’t because it was an 18. Now that I’m 18 it might be time to get it. 🦇

Easily my Favorite in the Series

Nice video! Just picked up Arkham Knight a couple of weeks ago for $5 on the Xbox and I loved playing through the main game. Now I am just on the side content. While I did enjoy Arkham Asylum and City more, this is a great entry. Also Arkham Origins deserves more love. Also a great entry!

I'm new around here after a recommendation to your "Alan Wake" retro, which was awesome! And now you hit another game I feel is underrated: Arkham Knight. Even compared to the recent success of spiderman almost 4 years before, this game is a triumph. Polished to all hell, perfecting the combat, bursting with side activities, more than a handful of villians and boss battles, playable heros and villians with unique combat spins, and more. BTW, you do actually see the officer from the intro in the GCPD building in a cell. The fear toxin really messed him up. But he gets better depending on wether or not you killed a couple of people in the intro.

This one ended up being my favorite entry in the series, for the simple fact that we finally got to pilot the Batmobile. I felt like the traversal in all the games past Asylum always felt a bit stunted, like Batman was trying to imitate Spider-Man but obviously wasn't as fluid. But once we got to start driving around with the Batmobile, then I truly felt like the Dark Knight. Overall, I agree that I think Asylum is probably the best overall in the series, but nothing compares to the feeling that Arkham Knight gives you.

I love this game, but certain things drag it down. Jason Todd wasn't as big a deal on repeat playthroughs since you would see it coming anyway, but there should have been less riddles, less batmobile combat, and better boss fights. Idk if I'd call it the worst but none of the other games had these issues and therefore felt like more complete experiences.

I just replayed the game the past weeks to burn some time before cyberpunk comes out, and on PC it just looks so good . The textures details and general mood of the rainy night is amazing . This game holds up very well.

The Barbara and Joker parts are hands down some of my best moments of Arkham Knight.

The cop survives and you can even visit him on GCPD. he starts out locked up and screaming eventually being able to speak again and by the end of the story back to normal, even making jokes about you being Bruce Wayne.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of this game. The gameplay is definitely at it's best but I feel this overwhelming sense of what could have been. For example Hush I feel was criminally underused. He could have had a huge role in the story they could even have done an arkham knight fake out where you unmask the arkham knight in front of news and police choppers to have Bruce Wayne's face under it framing Wayne and putting Batman in a more desperate position. Jason Todd is one of my favorite characters in the DC Universe but him being the Arkham Knight feels like toned down version of what made Under The Red hood such a great story. I also feel Scarecrow had less of an intimidating presence and was more of a background threat. I do recommend this game to fans of the series and fans of Batman generally, and I do replay this game often however it doesnt have the same graphic novel feel that I appreciated the other games in the series for.

Althouhg I know how good Arkham City is, but I still really really love Arkham Knight a lot! The twist with Jason was good for me because I was pretty new to the Batman stuff. I just have way more fun in Knight, but I love Asylum the most being Knight then City very close to it.

Origins is my favorite Also, Man-bat's wife is not dead, as if you revisit his lair, there's evidence to suggest his wife transforms into She-bat

It's always been my favorite of the Arkham series. The only gripe I have with the game (and all Arkham games) is the wonky running mechanic. I fucking hate that you can't just tap L3 to run and instead you have to hold down A/X for it. You can't even remap the controls.

You know, when I brought the Arkham Collection on PS4, I got so frustrated over how much DLC Arkham Knight got. I mean, multiple suit packs, some skins for the Batmobile (some of them you can't even use outside of the challenge maps), challenge maps, DLC ´´expansions´´ and season of infamy. And it takes up so much space on the console. Oh and speaking of the suits, I find it annoying that the only way to change your suit is through the main menu instead of doing it on the pause screen. I guess I can use this complaint while talking about Arkham City, but Knight has the better looking batsuits, in my opinion.

It’s not a perfect game but it’s still a damn good game.

Arkham Knight was really good, in my view the only thing that drags it down is the frequency of the drone battles. When I played it though I had mixed feelings about a lot of games having severely downer endings. I played a bunch of games in a row catching up like that, Assassin's Creed IV and Unity, Arkham Knight, it just seemed that all I was playing were tragedies and I was quite sick of it. Still am, having playing Assassin's Creed Origins. Developers and writers don't seem to want to give you triumph...or like in Andromeda, they go overboard. That sequence with Barbara was crushing though and then the revelation that she survived was a huge buoy, then the ending. I got 100% the first time through with all the DLC so I was good when the Knightfall protocol activated, but man it was heartbreaking. Part of why I loved the Dark Knight Rises.

While I really do like this game, I completely regret playing this game before Arkham Asylum, I recently bought the Return to Arkham bundle for my PS4 & I’m just so spoiled with Arkham Knight’s combat I can’t help but find Asylums combat to be clunky & not really fun tbh, I also hate the fact that it feels like you’re in one big cramped maze the whole time & you’re constantly back-tracking, idk, so far Arkham City is my favorite game but I’ve only played a bit of Origins at my friends house awhile ago on his Vita & tbh I really liked it, I don’t understand where the hate is coming from but whatever. Btw man it’s shocking to see such high quality content have only 466 views, you’ve earned a like & a sub from me, keep it up 👍

Rocksteady make fun of Batman Arkham origins probably because they didn’t like or it or because it messed up with a lot of stuff that they had in their games that mess up continuity. Plus rocksteady said that only half of Arkham origins is canon, I can’t remember where they said that like on Instagram or Twitter or something.

Outside of the technical hiccups that have been since patched out, this game has some of the highest-highs, but also some of the lowest-lows

Fr, I feel like people only hate the story because they had too high of hopes. Nothing was gonna beat Arkham City, but sense people believed Arkham Knight would top it, when it eventually fell short (I still think it is a great story) people acted like it was trash. Which it really isnt.

Arkham Knight is an ok game I’m just annoyed they had to make an excuse in order to to have the entire city abandoned and full of criminals yet again. It worked for City since it’s a prison city and they pushed it a bit with that blizzard excuse in Origins but now they write the plot of Knight like this in order to have an excuse to have the city empty yet again and it makes you wonder how the batmobile is even possible to drive when the city is full of cars and people walking around. The story is easily the weakest of all the games. I honestly would have preferred if they got rid of the batmobile and kept the city full of civilians you can save and full of life because the city is pretty bland when there’s no people in there. The batmobile should have just been at certain points in the story like in Uncharted or relegated to Riddler Tracks. The city also was a bit underwhelming when you got glimpses of it in Arkham City with that gorgeous background. The city in Arkham Knight is really small or at least the buildings are really small in comparison to the background in City.

That first Riddler racetrack stopped me from progressing. Maybe i should give it another try.

I was upset with the Mad Hatter mission too, but not for the same reason. Jervis first met Batman in Origins, and it was acknowledged by Rocksteady with the additions of the crime scene recreations and the evidence in the GCPD, but Origins didn't get a section in the book. After seeing some hope of not being ignored anymore, my fave gets left in the dust. Again.

I think it has the best story in the series.

I came to appreciate the game even more a few years later. The Batmobile and tank sections were frequent but they did not detract the experience and meshes well with the grand scale of Gotham and the expanded missions. However, I thought The Riddler's role and missions could have been reduced as he seemingly had more presence than Scarecrow and Knight. I also thought AR challenges didn't need to be unlocked and some of them can be downright frustrating. Storywise, it's a fitting conclusion to Rocksteady's Arkham trilogy even though the writing input from Paul Dini was missing as Batman can be pretty unlikable at times by dismissing and lying to his close associates such as Tim Drake and Commissioner Gordon.

Maybe it's a good thing you didn't fight Deathstroke his fight is underwhelming as heck it's just a cobra battle while he's in his own tank and when you beat his tank you just knock him out it's lame.

Thank you for the video! I just finished the first Two games. I've enjoyed the the stories and the games overall. But I think the combat is trash, very clunky and not too fun. The stealth has been fun though. But the lack of gadgets assisting you in combat is a huge let down. His gadgets are mainly to help with traversing the environment. Very one dimensional, I mean Batman in the first two games only has his Batarangs to help with combat. 😴

Gameplay is the best in the series easily, but the overuse of the bat tank and the awful predictable story dulled the experience for me. Honestly I'd rather play through origins again before this one.

I bought it years ago when I first got my ps4. I had Arkham fatigue by then and hated the tank initially. So I put it down till now. I'd bought Asylum cheap on steam recently and got back into the series (yet to play Origins) It's a much better game than I gave it credit for. The good bits are phenomenal. The Batmobile/Tanks sections are good now I'm used to them, however I'm still not fully won over by those (and the reason why they were there is stupid as is Scarecrows plan without civilians) . I do think it suffers from Ubisoft syndrome and there's way too much going on. Also I hate the constansy of having to get in and out of the Batmobile so often, it's like the Dev's are just a bit too proud of it. And the same with his wrist TV, whereas I just want to get on with it. And I really want to drop the Riddler off a building. The atmosphere, visuals, sound, voice acting etc is top notch as ever. And the rarely mentioned but real star of the show in Batman- Gotham/Arkham is in fine form.

I like the batmobile. I don't like having to do EVERYTHING with the batmobile. Also, I would have preferred it not to have a tank mode.

to be honest I think that the bat mobile wasn’t that overused bc I replayed the story multiple times and I noticed that they use Batman and the bat mobile both a very well amount of time I think people just used the bat mobile to get to mission more than using Batman to glide around the city

This was a great video and I wanted to ask would you ever review the ps4 spidey game. That is another licensed superhero game done right. Just like the Arkham series it respects the lore and characters and is amazing for both spidey and non spidey fans.

Arkham Origins having the Joker annoyed me, Knight having the Joker in it pissed me off. He's a good villain but goddammit he's not the only villain

Arkham Knight is such a strange game for me. I love almost everything about it. The Batman gameplay is fantastic. The story, while having a few shortcomings, ( like Jason Todd having no buildup in this universe at all) is mostly really good. Driving around in the Batmobile is fun as hell, but then...there's the tank missions. I'll be honest. I can't stand some of the more annoying tank missions. They alone have kept me from returning to the game after I finished it the first time and that's a real shame, since the rest of the game is so incredibly good. I'm currently going through all the games again in chronological order. Maybe I'll feel differently the second time around when I finally get to Arkham Knight, or at least I hope so. I'm really looking forward to the rest of Arkham Knight, but I am DREADING those late game tank missions. 😬 Also I hate how you need to 100% the game in order to get the true ending. Literally no other game in the series does this and it's really annoying here. I understand why they did it from a story perspective, but some of those side missions are just not fun to play. (Glares at Riddler)

The Batmobile is overused greatly in the main story. It is in every single bloody mission. I found it very boring, repetitive and tedious personally.

Arkham Knight is my least favorite Arkham game in my opinion it has a weak story, writing, batmobile tank, use of batmobile bad DLC except for season of infamy bad ending bad side quests terrible villains the good graphics, character designs, music, batmobile design, batmobile driving hand to hand combat and hand to hand stealth and there are no boss fights which sucks and no explanation on how scarecrow survived from killer crock which is dissapointing I just hated Arkham Knight so much

🎶🎵Your parents are dead and I can't stop laughing!🎶🎵 Also Punisher has nothing on this guy. I mean, interrogating someone by squashing their head with a freaggin' tank is on a whole different level. Also, the use of sidekicks in Panesa Studios and the Penguin weapon caches is brilliant. It would be awesome if it were implemented for a whole game. I love how they handled Poison Ivy. The way she was made more than a one dimensional plant lady. As for Jason Todd, even if we all saw it coming a billion miles away, I still like the different take on Red Hood. Oh and at the end where Joker takes control, notice how Batman's personality starts manifesting again and Joker is now starting to feel fear when Alfred's voice begs him to stop, like Alfred's voice is the trigger for Batman's reawakening, which further solidifies Alfred's importance to Bruce and maybe even the player.

This game has : better story than the others, Better pacing, Better storytelling, Better combat, Better mobility, Better stealth, Better writing, Better graphics (it count even to this day the game looks insane), The best acting, The best batmobile in any of the games, More playable characters, 2 vs many combat It is in my opinion the best Arkham game by far, 1. Arkham knight 2. Arkham Asylum 3. Arkham City 4. Arkham Origins Also by the way joker do not leave inside people, batman fear is becoming a vilain which is symbolize by the joker in the game, everytime you see joker is a moment when Bruce is afraid or stressed and the toxin manifest his fear has a joker inside him

Arkham Knight is my favorite Arkham game. Why fan call this the worst in the Arkham series baffles me. And their reasons also baffles me. Fans say the story is stupid, why didn’t the AK use drones instead of man operated tanks. My counter argument is, do you believe man operated drones would of stopped 🛑 Batman. If you did believe that then you don’t know Batman’s character at all. I’ve heard fans say they hated the drones fight & the bat mobile. And this complaint I’m fine with. If the bat mobile didnt appeal to you, then me enjoying it is going to make it anymore appealing. But I will say this, fine you didn’t like the bat mobile, you also didn’t like the bigger Gotham,the predator moment or combat moment or the fear take downs or the extra gadgets. The dual combat moment, if that also the case then idk what to say. The bat mobile really ruined the entire game for you. Color me shocked. Fans also say the AK identify was to predictable, my counter argument is, so what did that one reveal spoil the entire story, no it doesn’t. So who cares if that one element was predictable. Most fans complaints about AK is very miner. And fans made Arkham knights flaws seem much bigger then they really were. Arkham Knights pros out weigh its flaws by like 10tons. IMO Arkham Knight is the best game in the entire series by far. It does everything Better then the other games in every aspect. If you haven’t play Arkham Knight play it. You won’t be disappointed.

The biggest WTF moment in the story is how is Batman still infected with the Joker's blood when he cured himself at the end of Arkham City??

I was very disappointed with this game when I first played it. Then I replayed it years later...and I was even more disappointed. I came to the conclusion that I don't like this game. A pity.
