In January, the LA Clippers decided to give Kawhi Leonard an extension. It was met with some controversy, but overall, the LA Clippers were rolling, and nobody really questioned it due to the way Kawhi Leonard was playing. But now that he got injured yet again, was it a mistake? Right now the Clippers only have Kawhi Leonard out of the big three signed up for next season and it seems like a chance to go a different direction but because they have committed to Kawhi Leonard, it seems unlikely. Did the Clippers make a mistake?

Am I the only person who thinks Kawhi played himself out towards the end of the regular season? Dude was doing crazy shit and I was thinking it was only a matter of time until he got injured. I also think if we had made it to the 2nd round he would have been good to go.

Yeah I forgot if it was this channel or the other. One of the reporters said to darian that the Clippers spent too much energy on the reg season and they all burned out too early.

I actually think Xavier Moon is a serviceable PG… He plays under better control than Bones 🦴, Shoots pretty well, and he seems like he can run an offense.. Sometimes teams are always looking for the BIG names and they have the talent right there, just let them play… Moon & BJJ

Time will tell. The Q of whether trading away SGA to go 213 was a good move is reaching the end game soon. In the slim chance they win it all next year it will all obviously be "worth it". There is also the hard accounting of turning profits, which is related but a fiscal conversation in very different terms.

Yes, big mistake giving kl such big extension (50 M per year) so early. No team will ever trade for him and fill the salary cap with a never available star, just too risky!

Maybe we should get Bickerstaff, who just got fired from Cleveland. I wouldn't mind because all you're gonna see is Lue's same player rotations and the younger ones on the bench again all year.

Yup, I agree I would run bones, resign BBJ, let plumlee go, sign Drummond as back up center. We got to develop some of our young guys as we need more energy and youth in our rotation. I'm ready to move on from PG just hated his effort and mentality this playoffs, best to sign and trade and get some pieces back for him in my opinion

I wonder how Pg would be treated by coach Tom Thibodeau in NY if he plays like in this season with Clippers? Because looking at progress that players who came to NY made i think that we have potentially good players but coach Lue and his staff can't make them play.

Yes and No. Yes cause it was this regime who gave it. No if the regime changes. A great GM which clippers lack knows Kawhi's deal will be a nice expiring in a few years and will net the assets to rebuild or compete. FWIW I don't expect any changes unless Ty moves on. The fact no extension has been announced makes me wonder if Ty is interested in other opportunities. Probably posturing though. I just dont get this idea that they cant rebuild without picks. You can if you get the right scouting and "Hit" and "Development" the talent you take. Plus theres the undrafted pool and g league. Ballmer wanting stars for Intuit is moot when the stars are always injured.

After 14 seasons I'm having a hard time letting go of this abusive relationship, but yeah, extending a max contract for a guy who has again and again shown he is 100% unreliable was a mistake, unless the goal of the team isn't winning but making money and then maybe having Kawhi, a guy who but for injuries might have gone down as one of the greatest ever to play, is probably putting butts in seats--not my butt though. I'm done!

If PG leaves I’m hating on his IG comments . He won’t win anywhere else. I don’t think he want to leave he just want a very high sallary but clippers are in luxury tax . If they wave PJ Tucker Plumlee and theis, and get Jonas valanciunas, like PJ sallary is almost the same as Valanciunas. So Plumlee and theis salary can be used to bring batum back

If they don’t run it back it will look even more dumb and I think harden and PG likes the team environment and LA. If PG goes to Philly he isn’t going to be as respected, harden too isn’t very respected in the league anymore. TyLue treat them like kings no other team will do that they will go to the bench if they play the way they played in the playoffs. Pg and harden are asking for too much right now. As a clippers fan I’m getting pissed but I still want them to repeat at least one more year. The rebuild will be after kawhi era he too old to rebuild a team.

If I'm PG, I'm bolting L.A. as soon as possible. If he's weighing the pro's and cons, family in L.A., Money, and playing with Embid & Maxey. Embid & Maxey are a far better Duo than Leonard and Harden while also giving PG a better chance of getting to the finals in the east vs the west. I would absolutely bolt bro, he'd get millions of millions more dollars, a better chance at winning and maybe a little more fan appreciation. I would not stay in L.A. for sentimental reasons. That's the only way he would stay, and doing so his chance of getting to the finals, and getting more money is GONE. If I'm any star or super star there's no way I'm signing up to play with Kawhi. You have to accept and believe that people are who they've shown you they are. Kawhi has shown that he will not and CANNOT be available. I absolutely love Steve B., but if I'm PG I'm out....

Absolutely a mistake, how much more you have to wait for him to be healthy specially in the playoffs. They brought harden there to be a 3rd option, not to be your 1st. Don't expect them to win anything if he becomes your 1st option, james harden tried, but he just couldn't.

Guys like Zion, embiid, ja morant Mitchell, butler, kyrie, dame are injured every year should all those teams just not try to compete ? This forces steve ballmer to have to be competitive every year which he always does anyways. This isn’t as bad of a position to be in. We just need some size to compliment the stars.
