Following up to my previous video, here are my thoughts on S1 E1-6 of the Amazon Prime animated show, Hazbin Hotel.
Here's the previous video: • Hazbin Hotel PROLOGUE:...
Amazon description: This adult animated musical series follows Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination that was imposed by Heaven, she opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be "checking out" after proving their souls are redeemable.

Fun fact: The series loosely follows bishop Peters Binsfeld's classification of demons. This means that Lucifer and Satan are seperate entities in this series. Basically the series (and its spin-off series Helluva Boss) follows the concept of the Seven Dealy Sins with Lucifer (the ruler of Hell as a whole) representing pride and Satan representing wrath. From the six episodes of Hazbin Hotel alone this isn't made clear - except from some tiny little hints that most people won't get if they do not already know about it.

No opinions on Hazbin Hotel in particular (hadn't even heard of it!), I do think that this kind of content - responding to newer pop cultural media is really valuable and (as we've seen) generates a lot of engagement! It'd be important to make sure that it's a healthy mix of things you'd recommend and things you wouldn't - admittedly most of the reaction content I've come across is overwhelmingly positive - but I think this concept combined with being made for RU-vid (rather than just transplanted onto it) would be both valuable and popular!

There's nothing wrong with genuine critiquing. Just be sure you don't miss the forest for the trees, and overlook the messages and morals of the story behind it's allegory. Hazbin has a lot more subtext than it's sister series, Helluva, and I appreciate people with nuanced views on the series. So long as you give it a fair chance and are understanding about how the series is special to other people - both things I've seen here, in just the first minutes or so - then I think critiquing is how we grow as a people and a community.

An important thing to note: Hazbin's premise is based on a variety of Abrahamic canons, Apocrypha, and the Lesser Key of Solomon. It's not just Christianity. I say this because it's important to not conflate Lucifer's role in the bible as the Devil (something, by the way, theologists have debated for centuries. Lucifer is mentioned once and it's unclear if the name refers to Jesus or the Devil and none have a clear answer on that. Many scholars, however, DO note that it may be a translation error) with Lucifer being one of God's angels in the Jewish canon. He acts as humanities prosecutor, their accuser, to ensure their faith is strong. I love the way you articulate your points, though. You've got yourself a new subscriber.

As an atheist myself idc if they go off script from the bible, if you want to make a show that sympathizes or shows Lucifer in a good light I can find it interesting that just him being the big bad again

so, I want to make a video regarding my own opinions on it, but I honestly don't think I could. But basically, here's how I see the message of Hazbin Hotel, and how it applies to non-Christians, and the various beliefs of Christians themselves Hell and its Sinners are a representation of those who are already judged by society. People who grew up in bad neighborhoods or in countries with different religions, people who have gone to prison, addicts, etc. But, despite their past, there are some of them who genuinely regret past actions or genuinely want to change their beliefs. Then you have their friends (i.e. Cherri Bomb) who are bad influences on them and try to keep them from doing such, or people who don't want to change (the Vees) and instead use it to their advantage to try to gain more power and influence and money (gangs, cartels) Heaven and its Angels are a representation of Christians. You have the Christians like Emily who are genuinely good people, who don't judge Sinners, and actively want to bring them into the love and caring side of Christianity, no matter their past, so long as they are actively showing they want redemption. You have pastors like Sera, who don't voice their opinions, but have an opposition towards Sinners and their past, and indirectly attack them through their message while trying to keep a good image to all Christians. Then you have those Christians like Adam, who believe they can act like they want, because they believe that so long as they accept Jesus, they can act with blatant disdain and judgment against Sinners, condemning them to Hell instead of showing love and kindness to them, no matter what their beliefs are. In their eyes, they're all the same, whether or not they want redemption That's why you have Christians like me who watch the show, the ones who don't force people into their beliefs, who are openly supportive to those who come up to them, saying they want to be accept into Christianity. I've seen so many people say they're Christians and can't help but to love this show but then you have the vocal Christians like Adam who are actively taking a stand, making a preconceived notion of the show, that even as they watch it, and are seeing this message, are angry about it and are not listening to the message, saying it's a concept of "Heaven bad, Hell good" when the show never shows Hell as a good place. It's a place of cannibals, sexual deviants, murderers, rapists who will actively attack a place of redemption. Heaven is shown as a beautiful, happy place where everyone is perfect and beautiful, and happy. They get angry at Lucifer being represented as a character you should pity when Lucifer is a representation of Christians who tried to see the good that God, Jesus and Christians can bring to the world. But, like so many Christians, he gave up. So many Christians lose faith because of the hate and judgment other Christians bring. And often times, they still believe in the message. But, they believe they're fighting a losing battle alone, not seeing the good in either Sinners or Angels, so they just give up. But, again, Christians are getting angry that Lucifer is being depicted as good instead of seeing the message Those Christians are feeling CONVICTION. They are being called out and they don't like it, so they refuse to listen to the message and only respond with more and more hate. Meanwhile, you have the Christians who want to love the show, they are hearing the message, but they're too scared to speak up in fear of being judged by those Christians, when so many of those Christians are sending messages of hate, calling anyone who loves the show Satanists, and condemning them all to Hell again another thing I should add, that despite Lucifer giving up in this, and seeing the bad in both sides, it also shows that he can see the good among Sinners. He was one of them for so long, but never interacted with them. It wasn't until he met them and saw what Charlie was trying to do that he realized there can be good among Sinners and finds himself accepting he's one of them, but also believes they should have a chance at redemption Angel Dust and Sir Pentious are perfect examples of people who want to be Christians Sir Pentious doesn't believe he should be redeemed for the actions he's made in the past and people he's hurt, similar to people who have committed crimes or are in jail. Charlie can be seen as those pastors who actively go into prisons, and tell them they can be redeemed, if they are genuinely apologetic and regretful for past actions, Sir Pentious representing criminals who are freed from prison who do make a good life for themselves and find a place among other Christians with Charlie's help (the pastor bringing them into an accepting church) Angel Dust is someone who does want to be redeemed, but still deals with addiction that is constantly trying to pull him back (Valentino), and is trying to balance both his redemption and his sinful activity. He's still trying to be freed of his addiction, so he isn't quite ready for redemption. But he's still trying, even if it'll take longer for him to let go of it, only finding true redemption once he's freed of Valentino and his drug addiction I think that instead of actively recommending people from the show, Christians should be encouraging others to watch it. There is a message there for all of us. There is someone representing all of us. And many of those Christians may not like who they are seen as. THAT'S THE POINT. Christians are actively driving so many potential Christians or already saved Christians (like me) away from the faith and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. We need to be better and stop using hate and judgment to hide the love of Jesus Christ Lucifer is my favorite character and it isn't until now that it's because I relate to Lucifer in my description of him because of this. I am surrounded by Adams and Seras, and that hate is draining and disappointing. It makes me want to cry. And I just wish I could convince those who are like them to please just watch the show and actually LISTEN to its message because I am just so tired of it. I don't feel like I'm a Christian anymore, but I haven't let go of Jesus Christ either, so I don't feel like a Sinner either. I'm inbetween and I just want to finally be apart of the love of Jesus Christ among a congregation of Emilys

Three things that would've made this show much more paletable for christians. 1. Make the setting in the purgatory or at least at the very fringe almost separate part of hell. 2. Make Lucifer much more grey in his morality instead of simply being depressed. 3. Make the angels a lot more hesitant in exterminating. And see the extermination plainly as a duty rather than entertainment (except for Adam and Lute).

You didn't address the final episode in which Sir Pentious (a sinner) was redeemed and sent to heaven proving that redemption is possible. Rightious justice as we see in the show is not fair, it is not merciful andin my opinion it is a metaphor for rich, manipulative 'church' leaders that con their flock, using the word of their 'god' for their own selfish reasons. Adam is the personifucation of this, he uses his heavenly title to bring his wrath down on charlie even as she embodies more mercy and compassion than him. No church leader should be rich - all their money they do not need to live on should be going to the poor and needy. Is that not what 'jesus' would do? The show is about forgivness, redemption and reform and about how there is good in even the worst of us. A seggs/substance addict turning away pleasures. A violent gang leader (Sir pentious) choosing instead to protect those he loves and stop senseless slaughter. I do not see how a christian can be against that. No christian has ever prayed for lucifer to be forgiven or redeemed despite the fact of all the beings 'god' has created, he is the one that needed 'gods' forgivness most. I find that rather hypocritical.

On the point of those "high and mighty" church leaders you are correct, and the show does a good job exploring that theme of the type of hypocrisy you can find in crazy rich church leaders and things like megachurches. However, the show doesn't turn back to real salvation through Jesus, instead all you have to do is be a "good person" under some arbitrary standards that no even Sera understands. But the entire premise is confounded by the show's thus far omission of God. If they had an accurate God "running the Show" then characters like Adam wouldn't be in heaven and there would be no extermination (then there would be no story), if they put God in there anyways then they would have to misrepresent Him as either sadistic or uncaring (like they did in Supernatural) but if they did that then the whole point of salvation would be moot, because there definitely would be no chance for a sinner's redemption. As for Sir Pentious and Angel Dust, their journeys matter and their changes are good, no christian would be against their growth, but they still fall short, just cause you turn your life around doesn't mean you have attained salvation. Salvation is granted through faith (trust) in God, by humbling yourself and repenting for your sins, someone can be an all-around good person, but does that mean they are sinless? No, everybody sins (we're all losers, baby) but the difference between just a good person and a saint is that a saint acknowledges their shortcomings before God and asks for forgiveness, its something that's easier said than done because it's hard to be humble and admit when you're wrong. Christians don't pray for the devil for a very practical reason, it won't do anything. When you pray to God to forgive somebody, it's not that God is unwilling to forgive that person, God can and will send that person signs of what they need to do (in many cases that sign may be in fact, you) it's then up to that person to repent on their own. Angels (what the devil used to be) are different than people, angels are created fully knowing who they are, who God is, and what they need to do. The devil is fully aware that at anytime he could return to God and He would forgive him, but that's Lucifer's sin: Pride, he refuses to humble himself and return to God, he actively does not want God's forgiveness.

@@Whoami691 hey, if somebody lived a perfect life with literally no sin, then yeah they get to go straight to heaven no issue. Except the issue is that there is no human that has lived and has not sinned (except Jesus(aka God)). So it is the atheist who is prideful for thinking that he is worthy of heaven because he lived a life loosely based on the standards from a god he does not even believe in. Only God is sinless, that’s not pride, that’s just fact and for a human to claim that they are worthy of heaven without God’s grace would mean that they are also sinless, and if you’re sinless then you’re god, and to wrongly compare oneself to God is the ultimate expression of pride. God knows that we are not perfect which is why he will forgive us no matter how much we have sinned if we truly repent. Hell at the end of the day is separation from God, you want to turn your life around more power to you, but if you don’t want to live you life in the presence of God, God will not force you to spend your afterlife with him. Sir Pentious did a very heroic thing, for a good and unselfish reason too, does that erase any of the bad things he did? Horrible people do honestly good things all the time, does that make them not bad? If a certain type of German soldier sacrificed his life for his fellow evil German soldiers does that make him good? Your Sins don’t go away because you do good things, they go away when you truly repent to God. I also don’t see how someone that doesn’t believe in God and also resist sin. A sin is an offense to God, how can an atheist resist offending someone they don’t believe to exist? God did create us with rational minds, there’s nothing wrong with asking questions, you should be asking questions. Our faith to God should not be blind. We’re not His guinea pigs, He has no need to run experiments, we’re His children. And if he gave us all the answers where would that leave us? We would have no need for our rational minds. He didn’t leave us with nothing but questions, He revealed himself to us a multitude of times, He lived amongst us as one of us at one point, and He answers our prayers everyday whether we realize it or not (those rational minds are also super useful for discerning what is from God and what is from Satan)

But yeah I definitely saw many nods especially with the cue cards. Though they are talking about redemption, and that as the base makes sense. Also. I think this show subverts Lucifer being, well, Lucifer is by making him more like Prometheus than literally Satan in her interpretation of the mythos. Personally I find it uncomfortable at points but I'm not opposed to it, and I find it to be a good attempt to defuse that bomb of painting the character of actually Satan in a sympathetic light. As an Orthodox Christian, I also believe Jesus literally descended into and destroyed the gates of hell at Pascha (Easter) and brought up the sinners who lived righteous lives before Christ up into heaven, a not terribly dissimilar concept to the show. Really it's edgy Newgrounds stuff, but to me it doesn't have an awful premise at all.

The show is amazingly well written and uses a very common film and literary technique to force us to think about what we believe. Flip the script. Hell is horrific and the people are deeply messed up, but it turns out many are willing to work for something better and to EARN it the hard way. And it turns out those running heaven are jerks. It forces us to consider what redemption, forgiveness, and love actually mean. Not just something passive, but the ACTIVE ACTS of those things. It starts with sorry covers a lot of Christian belief about forgiveness in a very simple song. Angel is an incredibly tragic character. Knows what he is doing is harmful, but uses it to bury other pain. Wishes he could get out and stop butbhas nothing else to live for. Constantly being told negatives about himself. Pure bravado masking his complete depression, misery, and self hatred. He just shuts himself off emotionally until he is alone when he sobs knowing full well how messed up he is. How many of us do exactly this. Do we deserve forgiveness and redemption? Love? The show really handles some really important concepts, Christian or not.

But at least you watched it and looped back around… negative reviews are always expected it’s the Ill informed that suck… even someone like me that likes the show admits it has flaws and hits subjects that are abit touchy. And being that it focuses mostly on Christian lore (yes there are other religions shown slightly) for a Christian to watch it and give a negative review is waaay better than one that just reads the bio and opening scene and judges it. So disclaimer, I'm a Methodist and have an incredible relationship with our God and our messiah, Jesus Christ. The very first thought I had whenever Charlie reached Heaven was, "Ah. So this is what a GODLESS Heaven looks like...I hate it." That being said, I think that God's omittance from the show's cast was the point. This felt somewhat like a purely Angels vs Demons world (a la the Diablo franchise), and I think that was the smart way to go about it. Not only does that leave room for error on the part of Heaven and the angels, since even in the book of Enoch (which yes I know is not Biblically canon even though it's referenced by official canonical scripture) the Watchers sinned and contributed to the downfall of the world and was a reason for the great flood, but this at least creates an out for this admittedly asinine conflict. I do disagree for how utterly sympathetic they made Lucifer (Satan is explicitely a different character in this universe, the ruler of the ring of Wrath), but I do feel that overall it's typical. The reason this show is creating such a stir is due to the fact that it's largely a rags to riches story for the creator, starting on youtube by creating a full 30 minute pilot and getting it picked up by major studios and turning it into a phenomenon, not just the inaccuracies to Biblical scripture. But like you pointed out with Paradise Lost, I feel that it still runs in the same vein as that book. It's not trying to actively reframe the actual story so much as borrow directly from it while still keeping to that edgy 2000's deviantart personality that Vivienne Medrano got her start from. One way or another, as it is written, what will be will be. People's souls are in their keeping alone, and I don't feel like this show is somehow serving the interests of actual Satan.

How can a show about forgivness and redemption be helping satan? The fact christians are arguing this point is laughable. If christians cared about more than words in a book they would see that the whole underlying premise of the show is that Charlie believes there is good in everyone. Even the worst of the worst. In the show, Lucifer never sees the good of humanity, only the worst and so he believes thats all humanity is. Charlie shows him otherwise.

@@Whoami691 Yea, I hear you, and I agree. But MANY contemporary christians, particularly American Protestants, have a very militant view of the faith where spiritual warfare is the central focus of their belief system and as such they are hyper-vigilant against anything that can be perceived as subliminally demonic. So when speaking to these kinds of Christians who are very passionate about their faith and traditional faith-based storytelling, you have to meet them halfway by communicating to them on their level of understanding and worldview. After all, it's like the dude said, he personally doesn't like the show, but he could see why some people would! And that's okay, Hazbin Hotel is not for everyone. Overall, I think he tried to keep most of his personal biases in check for the most part and he gave his own take because I can tell he's passionate about Biblical canon being properly represented in popular media.

Okay so two things; First, thanks for coming back and re-examining the show with more context - it's good that you're principled enough to do that. Second, you seem to hinge most of your arguments about Charlie's version of redemption on Angel Dust, but that's not the lesson his episode was trying to teach us. It's not about Angel doing different things or being a better person, it was showing that his behavior was that way because he'd lost hope for anything better, and was hiding there in the sex and drugs, hoping he'd eventually break and get out of the hell he thought he was trapped in. Husk let him know that he wasn't alone in both reality and emotionally, and that while Angel's vices were fine if he needed them to survive, he had someone there by his side to support him if he felt like he wanted to change. It's not about Hazbin's version of redemption vs. the biblical interpretation of redemption; That comes on episode 8. I suggest you finish the rest of the show and make a video about the remaining episodes and how they might change your view on your thoughts in this video. I would like to hear your opinion on it, even if I don't agree.

I’m a Christian and think the show is fine, nothing malicious towards Christian people in my opinion. Think it’s a bit cheesy, too 2014 in its character design, and the plot holes are definitely there and poor ish worldbuilding. It makes up for it with songs (which are undeniably really freaking good), and characters who are actually good and developed enough. Alastor is the only character that genuinely feels like Satan or a demon in the traditional sense, he’s also the only one that I genuinely was curious to see because he’s so creepy but interesting. I’m a huge advocate for creatives having the freedom of expression and artists being able to depict whatever they want, but I agree that consumption of media matters, especially if there’s a possibility that kids will engage with said content. Despite the show being rated, we know like other adult cartoons, kids can watch and may/may not be subconsciously influenced by them. The show itself didn’t change or weakened my faith as to me, it is simply fiction & I am comfortable with my relationship with God. Still it doesn’t mean I couldn’t enjoy it, it was a show imo better than so many modern cartoons depicting fart jokes & reboot PPG girls twerking with a panda bear. Cheers!

I am a catholic Christian and personally I really enjoy Hazbin Hotel. I think making it 18+ was an extremely smart move considering kids' brains soak information like sponges. You definitely need to know to not let a show shape your religious views before watching Hazbin Hotel, this exactly the reason why it's 18+. Other than that the show pretty much goes by Christian faith except a lot of things are altered. It's a very interesting concept to see how heaven and hell are constantly at war trying to destroy each other. I can respect that a Christian can feel akward about a show like Hazbin Hotel, but I cannot understand why so many take so personally, I mean yes it's based in Christian mythology (actually is Judeo-Christian mythology) and many of that mythology it isn't based in the Bible in the first place, I mean Lilibeth is from a Jewish legend that Jewish learned when they were captured in Babylon, the so called levels of Inferno can from Dante, Jesus wasn't born on December, many Christians have doubt about the Biblical origins of the Rapture, the normal depictions of the Angels (conveniently they always white 😂), Saint Peter in the gates of Heaven, etc.

People have been co-opting the Christian mythology for a long time now, thousands of years in-fact. Good grief you could even claim that Christian mythology is co-opting earlier myths in order to repackage the basic message 'live true, live well' for a Roman audience. Lucifer has been recast as a protagonist in that tale on multiple occasions and similarly God has been depicted as an antagonist - case in point The Demiurge of Early Gnostics. The conflation between the character of Satan/Lucifer and evil isn't even firmly established in the Bible as Henry Ansgar Kelly argues in his book: "Satan: A Biography" (Cambridge Press). Essentially his basic premise is that ""A strict reading of the Bible shows Satan to be less like Darth Vader and more and more like an overzealous prosecutor. He's not so much the proud and angry figure who turns away from God as [he is] a Joseph McCarthy or J. Edgar Hoover. Satan's basic intention is to uncover wrongdoing and treachery, however overzealous and unscrupulous the means. But he's still part of God's administration." Even when cast as a moral opponent one can still say that this is a necessary role, a stick to heaven's carrot. In my books whenever we see a stick and carrot being employed together you have to ask the question: "who is the Ass here?" This belief that the current shape of the story is somehow perfect and perfectly true is frankly delusion. The entire thing is a story, but a rich one and as such is ripe for retelling. Nor is this the first such retelling- there are literally hundreds from Milton to Gaiman. If creativity and adaptation annoys staid religious adherents then really as far as I'm concerned you yourselves are responsible for every iota of discomfort for your inability to see beyond the words.

Hazbin hotel is not accurate in it's portrail of real life religion. But it is accurate in the fact that it preach the same thing that those religion preach such as forgivness and redemption. And while I do not know if god existe of not it is obvious that many story in the bible were not written by accuracy sake but more a teaching material for people to understand said moral. As such I think it's important to retell those story in a way that resonate with the more messy world that we have today. Liking Hazbin hotel is a personal decision but we cannot fault it for trying to show that despite the messy world we lived in the lesson taught by the bible still have great value.

In my opinion, Charlie Morningstar is more Christlike then most US Christians today. Most, not all. Yes, fiction matters, but this show isnt here to proselytize or indoctrinate. It's telling a story using familiar aesthetics, and other mythology such as the Lessar Key of Solomom. Oh! And Satan Lucifer and Beelzebub are 3 separate characters in this universe, as they are in Peter Binsfeld's classification of demons. VivziePop has stated Satan and Leviathan will be much closer to their "traditional" depictions. Vivienne Medrano is creating her own universe with influences from different corners of Christianity and Judaism.

St Peter is Christian in a specific mythological sense, but Lilith is a Jewish myth. Peter, being human, could have gone to the show's Heaven even if Jesus were not divine, because that happens to many humans in the show's lore (what it takes to get into Heaven and avoid Hell being a bit unclear, but some general concept of being "good"). Adam went to Heaven without being Christian at the time of his death, for example. Neither Jesus nor God (the Father, I mean) are mentioned as characters (although God is mentioned in a few swears). I think they are very inexact (to some extent purposefully), on whether the Christian or the Jewish God is the basis of their in-show lore.

You really don't see it do you? Listen, I respect people's faiths...but your faith has hurt me over and over and over again. The angels that come to exterminate the lost souls that god is supposed to be protecting is a representation of the hypocrisy and zealousness of the church that continues to persecute those they deem blasphemous based on their opinion and do so in the name of holy justice. Notice how most of the main cast are of the LGBT community. Those who are products of their misfortune in life that people turned away. It wouldn't work if they used Norse Mythology, or Greek, and while I understand that not all of those of Christian faith are prejudice in that light...it does not take away the pain. That is why Lucifer (who in this universe is different from satan, that actually most jewish mythologies) is depicted the way he is, why heaven is without God, why they don't even know what gets a soul into heaven. Because the churches claim they know but because God can't tell them directly they only assume and thus pass judgement in his name with no real reference. Hazbin Hotel is using the mythology of religious lore as a place for real life hypocrisy. So no, its not dangerous, because this is a show for adults who understand that this is not the actual lore. Children should not be watching this show at all and that was made pretty clear. This is about people demonizing others for who they are and for their mistakes that people don't even attempt to understand. Some people are just monsters through and through like Alastor and Valentino, but others are just people who are products of their generational trauma. Angel Dust the son of a mob boss and drug dealer had little choice in his life wouldn't you say?

I am morally Christian. I was raised being forced into a dress and drugged to church every Sunday. I enjoyed my time there and listened to the stories and lessons and accepted Jesus into my heart, but I will hopefully never go to church again. Why? Because the elders of my church, the church I was the third generation going to, told my brother, someone they watched grow up from birth, that if he got married to his now current wife, because this is his second marriage, any child he wouldhave with this woman, would be damned to hell. His first wife was unfaithful, lied, and did not marry him for love. So, according to these elders, because the Bible says something about no divorce and no getting remarried, my nephew is apparently blocked from entering the gates of heaven. My nephew is doomed to hell as punishment for the 'sins' of his father.

Heaven and Hell as portrayed in Christian Mythology always remembered me very much of Diablo lore. A Fundamentally Good and a Fundamentally Evil being, supposedly, are both too stubborn to change, or basically UNABLE, and therefore together create all the problems that exist in the World by means of their Eternal clashing. And it translates really well into Hazbin Hotel as well. Heaven is Strict and unable to consider anything but divine will, where as Hell/Lucifer is generous trusting and a free spirit. It ends up biting him in the ass in the end, but the Lore is wildly different at that point. GOD gave humans free will in Christian Lore, Lucifer did it in Hazbin. Funny thing is, that people will still Judge only Lucifer, not god, even tho they both made the same "Mistake" in the end. As far as i can tell, Christians are not really quite uniform, in some versions Lucifer literally presented God with a Solution for Gods stupid rules that damned humanity, and he refused stubbornly. Also a parallel with Diablo lore, as "Evil" tries to reunite with "Virtue" to become the original being again, but Virtue refuses for no real reason. I´d say Heaven depicts how people see christianity today very well, and for a few good reasons too. While at the same time, obviously doubting the Narrative of such an Institution, an institution that has brought more pain and death thatn probably any other in History. This doesn´t come from nowhere.

So much Christian critique just blasts culture without asking why the series/book/song/ideology has captured the hearts of people. But I think you’ve really hit on something with appealing to the outsider… it certainly rings true for me anyway. Praising God for the topsy-turvy Gospel: God in Christ calling the outsider in. In to His family. Thank you! Also- why are you dressed like you’re about to shear sheep?

I mean it's so divorced from actual Christian theology it's more or less meaningless in a direct way to Christianity.

All forgiven and yay it's just a show I know multiple shows and series Where they twist the mythology of their own universe Even if it originates from a real mythology like Christianity. The Mandela catalog is a good example however this one is somewhat more accurate with demons And is actually pretty scary.

The ideas you present about Christianity very much align with the show. Charlie is the jesus figure that reach down to the people to save them through forgiveness (which is not a uniquely Christian consent). For example, in the show, we don't know why people are saved or condemned, and both heaven and hell have good and bad people. In Christianity the only requirement for salvation is for jesus to save you through belief and forgiveness. Not by judging you morals. So the requirements are not based on morality. You refuse to see the real parallels and criticisms because of your preconceived biases.

I'm sorry; a "Christian mythologist" you do realize that all religion is in fact the mythology of mankind and their extremely limited knowledge of the natural world around them and their inate abilities to come up with stories to detail their small niche in the grander world around them right? If you're going to claim there's a "god" then perhaps you need to acknowledge *L!* and the elohem. AKA THE ORIGIN OF YOUR "GOD!" A STOLEN DEITY FROM A PEOPLE THAT WEREN'T EVEN JEWISH. Hazbin Hotel depicted the origin story of your own religion better than the big book of fables and contradictions itself

As a Christian and a fan of Hazbin and Helluva. I'm so glad abd grateful for you looking into it and even speaking to those lost who may be curious what a Christian thinks of a show like this. Please finish the series and say your final thoughts on it but I agree. Wordly media loves to push the narrative that we can save ourselves but that isn't the case. Only Jesus saves! God bless you! Everyone I am not kidding about this… this should not be at all presented by anyone as watchable or good in any way. SATAN SHOULD NEVER EVER BE PERCEIVED IN ANY FORM OF GOODNESS!!! He is the literal incarnation of evil that wants to hurt you at every turn.
