Was JAMAAL TINSLEY'S Growth Stunted? What Happened?

Jamaal Tinsley was one of the best point guards of his era in the late 90s early 2000s. His story can be considered a Growth Spurt in some eyes, but with the expectations he sett for himself, with the way he performed as an amateur especially at Iowa State. He could've left and entered the NBA after his junior season, where he along with Marcus Fizer, took them to the Elite 8. In his senior season, he was the conference player of the year and an all American. The Indiana Pacers selected him 27th overall in the 2001 NBA draft to be their franchise point guard. Things then took their turns and he saw his ups and down in the association. I commend Tinsley for even getting to the NBA from where he came from. He dropped out of high school and had to go the community college route. Had these things not happened. Jamaal Tinsley Stunted Growth.

Yeah. Don’t get me wrong the new scoring hybrids are an upgrade, but the perfect blend of playground flavor with big time play creation gets lost when hybrids are just too athletic to need the inbetween game. Hybrids today either rain down from 30 ft or drive hard for the kickout/rim finish. Kyrie and CP3 are really the only guys that can kill you at half speed just as easy as full speed

Tinsley clearly had some flaws as a player and person. But to go from high school dropout and JUCO to an 11 year NBA career is still pretty remarkable. I can't call him stunted.
@tradingpost431
@tradingpost431 Год назад
Nah he’s stunted because he had the potential to be much more than that. He should’ve been a top 5 pick and perennial all star. He had that kind of talent. But his personality and behavioral issues kept him from reaching his full potential. Someone with less talent but the same issues wouldn’t have even made it to the league.

@sit2go
@sit2go 11 месяцев назад
@@tradingpost431 I disagree with the top 5 pick theory. He lacked above average athleticism and strength. Every time he went against a top elite PG in his age group. He constantly got owned. If he was suppose to he a top 5 pick that should have never happened. He reached his ceiling I think. A solid starting PG that with the right team could have been a contender. Like a Mark Jackson or Jason Williams.

Mr. Hands ...before 30 point triple doubles being normal he averaged 10 points 9 boards, and 8 assists with a couple steals and a block for a season in the 80s. Appreciate the channel fo sho!

He had one game 0 points, 15 assists on 0/0 shooting. True point

I say this about most NYC point guards. They’re all nice with the rock and can get to the hole but can’t shoot. Tinsley, Kenny Anderson, Bassy, Shamgod, Rod Strickland, Mark Jackson. Only exceptions Steph and Rafer Alston

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. I was SO unhappy that the Blazers took Zach Randolph (Fat Boy want a corn dog?) instead of Jamal Tinsley!

Can you do a stunted growth on Sean May or Kendall Marshall

Great Breakdown on how #s can be deceiving and Jamal Tinsley stunted growth and he was a growth spurt in some ways too before the injuries.Eventho he didn't have a jumper he was as pure as a point guard can get in the early 2000s.If Tinsley could shoot better it would have reduced his turnovers more and created wider passing lanes

I think hoop dreams was like a super version of stunted growth, but a dope idea nonetheless

Do Austin Daye next. Hes ballin overseas now looking like a natural scorer. He was the go to option in his 2nd year in Detroit for clutch buckets.

Have you done A.C. Earl yet? Tinsley growth wasn’t stunted; he played 12 season with marginal talented

if you ever decide to do the AND1 videos again, you should take a look at Springs. Not saying he's as good as baby shack, but the dude can play. Nightmare quick. Had a good handle. Explodes to the basket. Could shoot. Definitely a high caliber talent.

11 seasons for a high school drop is not bad. I do understand what you mean with his growth. You're saying he could have been a HOF player if worked harder.

I still remember a game when he had 20+ Assist.
