@@user-wo7dl6tb2q I watched Marcus Liberty tryout for the Celtics during an invite to their Summer League. He played point and was pulling up as soon as he crossed half court. I think he made 3 in a row, and then they pulled him. This was the year Dee Brown was Captain. David Wesley, Eric Montross, Rumeal Robinson, Adrian Autry, Joey Johnson (Dennis Johnson's younger brother 52 inch vertical leap) were other notables.
Kerry Kittles was one of my favorites too, along with Ray Allen. That 95-96 Big East was LOADED. Besides those two, you had AI and Othella Harrington (who was supposed to be the next great big man) @ Georgetown, John Wallace @Syracuse, and even the stunted duo of Felipe and Zendon Hamilton @ St. John's. Absolutely great bball memories seeing some of those Villanova clips. I see you gave props to Alvin Williams too!
Maaaaaaaaaaan, I graduated high school in 96’….The stretch from 90’-96’ was EVERYTHING for my b-ball youth…..UNLV, FAB 5, “BIG DOG” Glenn Robinson (Purdue), AI (Georgetown), Kerry Kittles, John Wallace, Ray Allen, lesser known, but tough players like Gary Trent, Shawn Respert etc;…..It was great!….👌🏾👍🏾🏀🏀🏀🏆
@@aaronhutchinson885 I remember Morris was the poster boy for staying in college too long. Went from a top five pick to 2nd round rounder without a chance chasing that degree.
Man' 😊thank you for doing this player, because Kerry was enjoyable to watch when he was healthy. You dug deep in the vault for this.. Salute to you, and keep up the great work..
Klay Thompson is the perfect comparison. The jumper, athleticism, and defense are definitely on the same level. Man I wished he was able to stay healthy,
I never seen Kittles as a future hall of famer even without the stunts, i though he was a very good player in a system that suited his attributes.Respect to him, but in my opinion not close to a hall of famer, i dont think he was ever even a all-star??
Another banger. Injuries definitely slowes K.Kittles down cause he was a problem at Villanova and early in his nba career. Waiting on tht Miles Simon ,Calbert Cheaney and Bryant(Big Country)Reeves
Kerry Kettles was a baller!! Love this content. Found it today and Im hooked. Here is a player who is the definition of "stunted growth" is Andrew Bynum... Would enjoy seeing him and his career mentioned here. Great work....
That up and coming 98 Nets team... Damn, Kittles' knee, Van Horn's inconsistency plus Jayson Shotgun Williams... I liked that team when I was really young, with Kendall Gill
I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. So, you can see what era I grew up in. I remember Kittles falling off the table. So, it wasn't any actual blowouts of the knee? More of an "ongoing condition," that eventually led to multiple surgeries, and his early retirement?
I once were a NJ Nets fan and somewhat still is but Kittles and Kenyon Martin along with Keith Van Horn I still would put on my favs list... I'm 35 years old and grew up on some of the greatest basketball and all around basketball, competitive basketball and I am sorta stuck...
Right....man those 99-03 sac kings w christie, peja, bibby, vlade, C.Webb they woulda had a ring too if they didnt get screwed by the refs in the 02 playoffs
I was a huge nets fan in this era and ran into Kerry Kittles at a Barnes and Noble book store. I was so tempted to ask him the million dollar question which was eating away at me. "How upset are you guys that Sam Cassel doesn't pass the ball and why don't you guys do something about it." Needless to say I didn't ask, when you see a guy checking out books in quiet it's simply unfair to go bother them with "work" questions. I'd be pissed off too if I'm somewhere trying to buy something and people kept asking me about my work.
I know I asked for a Clarence Weatherspoon video aka baby Barkley. But now I want to see a O’bannon twins video because they were also stunted at the same time. Shit i feel like I’m revealing my age, lol.
I remember my cousin getting so mad we didn't take this high school kid kobe bryant when we drafted kittles...I was like who's that? Lol mind you I was in 3rd grade...but we both still had kittles jersey his rookie year! Love the Channel!!!
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Kerry Kittles was the total package. Dude was a Menace on the Fast Break. Stacey "Plastic Man" Augmon would be a good one to do. To me, one of the All-Time Badass Nicknames in Basketball. Salute to you sir on this series! 😁 👍🔥
I'm noticing that a lot of these high fliers dunkers usually ends up with knee of some kind of joint issues. Zach Lavine Blake Griffin Derrick Rose Penny just to name a few at the top of my head.
One of my favorite college players ever... (Keon Clark at UNLV was absolutely sick, Anthony Carter at Hawaii, Derek Anderson at Kentucky, Rashad Phillips from Detroit, Chris Herren, of course Iverson and Marbury Ray Allen, were some other favorites...but Kerry was a one man fast break if there ever was one and I probably liked him best of all. Fun time to watch college basketball.
half that nets team back then was the definition of stunted growth...keith van horn, kerry kittles, kendall gill, jayson williams, stephon marbury, Luscious harris
@@stuntedgrowth I'm a New Yorker whose father would take me out to jersey to watch the Nets back then because the tickets were so cheap (family deal of 4 tickets plus food vouchers were just $100). After going to many games over the 4 year period they went from Van Horn/Kittles/Cassell to then Marbury/Van Horn/Kittles to finally Kidd/Martin/Jefferson made me a fan and this was at the time where the Knicks were still doing pretty good and I was a huge Knick fan. I always knew even as a kid that the team wouldn't last. Even at 11 years old I could tell that a championship contender who can't even sell out a single game has no way of lasting. Even when they got Vince Carter they couldn't sell out. New Jerseyeans just didn't support the team. I feel like maybe if the team played in Central or Southern NJ further away from Knick territory that they may have had a chance. The problem is that NJ is a commuter state and even in South Jersey they have to deal with Philly having a huge influence
Not sure he had HOF potential. Limited ball handling skills, rebounder etc. His sr year the big east was no joke..him, ray allen and AI were all 1st team all america..let alone John Wallace and the cuse went to the chip that year.. his game reminds me of Kevin Martin, Martin a better scorer, but similar frame, limited handle, limited contribution outside of scoring etc.. that One Sock was a trademark. Between that and under shirts, college in the 90s was real. Appreciate this one SG. Tip onto Terrance Morris Maryland with Franchise and Dixon..
Yet another great vid. Need to see one on Jerome "Pooh" Richardson, UCLA great and T'Wolves PG drafted four slots before Tim Hardaway in '89, two slots before Mookie Blaylock, seven slots before Shawn Kemp, and eight before B.J. Armstrong. 'Preciate it.
I literally grew up with him and his older brother living 4 houses down the street from him. We attended the same high school for a year or so. I'm 4 years older than him. Kerry has always been extremely competitive and passionate ( he HATED to lose at ANYTHING 🤣🤣🤣). I am extremely proud of him and his family. He came from a very loving and tight-knit family.
I'm from Connecticut and grew up a UConn fan and I remember watching Villanova versus UConn during that period when Ray Allen and Kerry Kittles were in the Big East. I always thought they were very similar. Both were athletic lanky 6 ft 5 in shooting guards who had just a beautiful stroke on those threes. And both had way better attitudes than the third of that era's trio of Big East superstars-- Allen Iverson :-)
Dude was the truth in Nova and on the Nets. I remember being in high school when he was in the loaded Big East and seeing him play live in Nova U. I miss him.
I’m here in Melbourne and started following NBA in 93. Mate discovering this channel has been so good ! High quality videos that are well researched with great mix of compassion and keeping it real. Thanks mate. Much respect
He was a cliche swingman that could have definitely been a 3&D slasher in this era that most teams can use on their wings as a mini small forward or 2guard because he was a wide receiver on fast breaks for alley Oops & dunks along with his catch and shoot from outside game with very few dribbles inwhich most point guards love .
I remember #KerryKittles at Villanova, HE WAS A SLIM BUCKET AND PLAYED BOTH ENDS, AND HE WAS THE REASON I WORE THE KNEE HIGH SOCKS, 1🆙⬆️, 1 DOWN⬇️. 🤦🏿♂️🤣
My friend was a ball boy for the Nets from 99 to 01, i would get tickets I was lucky to see him play and meet him. The following yr Kidd came and he was no longer a ball boy 😢😂
Surprised I'm just seeing this stunted growth on Kerry kittles always wanted you to do one on him he's definitely one of my top 5 college b ball players he Villanova was my favorite college team growing up 1:Ron mercer 2:Kerry Kittles 3:Tim Duncan 4: Marcus Camby 5:Keith VanHorn
Big East basketball in the mid/late 90's sure was a special time. Allen Iverson, Ray Allen, Kerry Kittles, John Wallace.... big time basketball and players.
Man…J Kidd was so perfect for that Nets Squad , Kittles , Jefferson , K Mart Those High Flyers were so beautiful with Kidd running The Show. Those Nets Teams were Dope AF.
Kerry Kittles was a good player that was a very good shooter and a good defender that deserves more credit but because he got injured they don't talk about him. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017
Decent player but hall of fame? He doesnt have the skill and the elite threat of stars in the east during that time with the likes of paul pierce, tmac , carter, ray allen, if you are calling him a "could have been hof" then call everyone 6'5 or above with shooting a potential hof, skills and size doesnt matter without the right mentality
This was a very similar fate to Wal Williams. He was a long, pretty athletic small forward who had an even better shot than Kittles, while also being as good at driving to the hoop when in his Prime at Sacramento, Raptors, and Blazers. Unfortunately for him Portland was so stacked with good wings which prevented him from getting the sort of minutes i think he deserved, competing with guys who may at that time not have been in their prime either, but were all still good enough to put 15 to 20 a game if they had played anywhere else. Guys like Isaiah Rider, Jimmy Jackson, and Stacy Augmon, oh plus another decent wing defender in Vincent Askew. When he went to Houston in a trade i was pissed cuz he was one of my favorite players, (and being a Blazers fan, i thought trading a bunch of guys for a washed up Pippen was stupid and still do to this day), but that's when he got hurt and wasn't ever the same guy. He basically turned into what he was always sort of Pidgeon-holed as being, nothing but a "pure-shooter". He was way more than that prior to his injuries, much like Kerry, by the early 2000's playing with Mobley, and Francis and co, he still put up decent role-player numbers, but unlike back in the mid to late 90's where he didn't put up super-star numbers as well, that had back then more to do with his lack of confidence and always playing with a number of big time scorers. He back then actually had the skill and ability to be a star, but by the time he got to a team where he coulda stepped up and been that, due to his injuries he was half the player he was just half a decade earlier. Sadly he will only ever be known as being a great outside shooter.
Kittles was the man. I remember the Big East was crazy when I in highschool. Kittles, Iverson, Ray Allen..it was lit...we use to have debates if Kittles was the quickest with the dribble at lunch time...
