He was not only the best RB, but the best player in the NFL in the 70s when the running game was the main offensive attack.

Fun Fact: When Barry Sanders had his 2,000+ yds season he finished with 2,053. This was a 16 game schedule - after the first two games that year, Barry had 53 yards rushing - So...he rushed for exactly 2,000 yards in (the remaining) 14 games. I am not saying it's the same as OJ's season - just interesting is all...
@kevinbrooks1104

I remember that 2000 yrd season . It was like watching OJ , do the output of 2 running back .the season was short , it was blowing snow in Buffalo and out of the mist came a Buffalo that when brought down would slide for thirty yards on the frozen tundra. Barring the crime, Simpson was a combination of timing, speed and could give tacklers that extra shake

But, after that he never had an under 1000 yard season. Also, they played 14 games. He also did not have a good offensive line until the end of his career.

YES... worked out with him over his last 2 summers at USC. 'Lived in same apartment complex. Never covered a guy who ran so "smooth". Long strides...he, Jim Brown and a few other GREATS exclusively possessed. Deceptive. Ask anyone who's played defense against him. Even in drills. Sayers too, I believe. "Smoooth" is the best word I can use to describe what I experienced up close. I BELIEVE HE'S STILL IS PART OF USA 440 RELAY TEAM THAT HOLDS WORLD RECORD. IIRC while in College at USC The Juice also ran track and was a part of a 4 X 100 World Record relay team, they held the US Record & World Record temporarily at 6-2 & 210lbs for that Era, he was decent sized very fast RB His best feature was that he could cut at full speed & could be at top speed in 3 strides Did he cut 2 people's heads off? I have no idea, we have the best legal system, and he was acquitted - I find it amazing that folks are sure that OJ did it, but those same people refuse to believe that tRump lost fair & square

Out of all the big fast super backs like Bo Jackson, Herschel Walker, Jim Brown, Eric Dickerson etc... OJ had the best zig zag natural running moves he was like a bigger faster Barry Sanders, not to dis Sanders who was the all time best improvisational zig zaggers. OJ cut up field most of the time, its very rare if he was ever tackled for a loss. Also often carrying the ball more than 30 times a game even in the NFL he could always slip thru tackles where nobody ever totally stuck him straight on standing him up driving him backwards. After his playing career he had it all and blew it foolishly.
