DSOD was canon to the MANGA. BBT was canon, at least to Gx and 5Ds. Jaden is from post Gx ending. Yusei is from the time before the WRGP has taken off, but after the previous major threats have been taken care of. As for Yugi and Yami… post Battle City, pre Time travel to the past. Potentially post Leviathan as well, since no Timaeus was here.

Interestingly enough, through Paradox, Aporia and Z-One's dialogues in Duel Links Konami confirmed that the Yugioh series exists in a multiverse due to *their* time travel shenanigans Paradox is in fact the one to figure it out because, when the former talks to Pegasus he reveals that he distinctly remembers dying to Bakura. This made no sense to him until Aporia appeared, who had been peacefully existing in Duel Links for a while now, who confirmed that there are other instances like this. The two, alongisde Antinomy I think, then went ahead and teamed up to stop Z-One and show him this same evidence. The future of the 3 former villains, ironically, is left unknown. But they all mutually decide to investigate these branching timelines and see how they play out. Especially since there's a good chance at least one has the world not be destroyed.

They really should have done that play on the penultimate turn yeah, because the Spiral Forces are written specifically to allow it. Neos Spiral Force requires you to target a monster other than Elemental Hero Neos for the effect of Spiral Force, uses the text “Target 1 monster you control, except ‘Elemental Hero Neos’ , while Dark Spiral Force only requires a DM on the field at all without specifying that it cannot be targeted while sealing their own attacks, so yeah it’s not shenanigans or anything, it really feels like that’s a scripting mistake if anything and all

9:57 - It would actually depend given that time travel is in play. Had Paradox struck at the either between Seasons 3 and 4 (as he somehow survived his heart attack from the duel with Yubel and washed up at Duel Academy after everyone else did, even Jaden) or shortly before his big loss to Makoto, then Zane would be the one he stole Cyber End Dragon from. But if Paradox struck after everyone graduated from Duel Academy, (which seems to be the case since Jaden is clearly from after the duel with Darkness and he’s been globe-trotting to hunt for Paradox), then he’d need to have stolen Cyber End Dragon from Syrus. Since, ya’know, Syrus surpassed Zane as a duelist by combining both forms of Cyber Style with his usual Vehicroids to make a stronger union that also dispelled the curse of the Cyberdarks. Also, Paradox stole Rainbow Dragon shortly after stealing Cyber End Dragon with Jaden hot on his tail before they threw hands in, of all places, Venice, Italy.

Honestly, the biggest instance of luck for Paradox is that none of the protagonists drew into MST or ANY backrow removal. Cause he would have just been dead in the water the moment his field spell was gone.

Actually the only YGO movie to not be canon would be Pyramid of Light. The old Toei movie was a midquel to the old Toei anime (aka, Season 0), Bonds Beyond Time is acknowledged as canon due to Paradox being an affiliate of Ark Cradle/Illyaster (aka, the villains of 5D’s Season 3 onward), and Dark Side of Dimension was explicitly a sequel to the original manga (though the 4K dub changed enough dialogue and plot points around to make it a sequel to the old 4Kids version, if that counts for anything). A bit tricky to get down admittedly.

Since you mentioned GX S4 never getting dubbed it actually took until Zexal for a YGO series to get fully English dubbed again as both GX & 5Ds were cut short. That aside TGS Anime does a good job analyzing the TV duels and your added perspective is also nice as well.

While I like Malefics as an archetype, especially now with their new support, but with how focused they are on having evil versions of iconic dragons they don't even have that many, which is a shame cause there's a lot to work with to round out the tools the archetype needs Malefic versions of the more powerfull versions of Stardust Dragon for protection, Malefic Rose Dragon for a non-targeting field wipe, Malefic Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon for non-destruction removal and of course Malefic versions of the 4 Dimension dragons from Arc V PS: Can we just talk about how hard they nerfed Malefic Truth Dragon btw? In the real world its just a big beater than can blow up your opponent's field if it succesfully destroys a monster. But in the anime it can do that if ANY Malefic destroys a monster and even has a protection effect to keep itself alive

If there is one think I wish for Yu-Gi-Oh is for tag duels to become a somewhat common thing but I can't convince people at locals to even try.

7:12 - I’ve been personally toyed with the idea of simulating all the anime duels as close to real life metrics as possible to see if the reality would match the fiction or not. Maybe run different kinds of simulations on climatic rival battle and big finale duels to spice things up for a viewing audience. Especially with all the legacy stuff pouring out over the last decade or so, mainly previously unadapted cards or new stuff that makes older stuff whole (like Ra in all three forms and a Speed Duel deck’s worth of S/T just to properly adapt every possible anime effect or the recent Gold Sarcophagus retrain being a Continuous Spell in contrast to the actual Gold Sarcophagus card being a Normal Spell that lingered continuously for a short time). The best part of this is that up until about ZEXAL, the video games were pretty plentiful and varied so they did a great job picking up slack for cards and mechanics that didn’t make it to real life, giving even the most obscure characters with nonexistent decks a fair shot at some form of proper representation (in tandem with duel spirits of their signature cards being duelists in other games or official Konami deck lists that name characters or archetypes). Not to mention that the 5D’s era of World Championship games come with faithful gameplay of Turbo Duels while Duel Links/VRAINS era Speed Duels provides a convenient catch-all means to adapt Duelist Kingdom, Battle City, Virtual World/Deck Master, and Action rulesets without having to actually wrap your head around how they’d work in practice. It’s all quite the brain tease.

I do think it would be interesting if they did an alternate version of this duel where instead of facing Yugi, Jaden, & Yusei (or due to timey-wimey shenanigans, Paradox is facing both trios at the same time just in alternate dimensions/timelines, and he happens to lose to both trios at the exact same time) Paradox is instead facing Kaiba, Zane, & Jack....just to see how well the main "rivals" of each series would do compared to the main heroes. Especially since we could have showdowns like Blue-Eyes vs Malefic Blue-Eyes, Cyber End Dragon vs Malefic Cyber End Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend vs Malefic Red Dragon Archfiend....or instead something like Neo Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon vs Malefic Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, or Chimeratech Overdragon vs Malefic Cyber End Dragon.

People like pointing out the illegal plays with Stardust in this duel. But isn't the De-Fusion play also illegal? Neos Knight was properly fusion summoned, yes. But then, it was destroyed, then brought back by Elemental Mirage. Does that mean that the game treats this Neos Knight as a new game object and that it doesn't remember its fusion materials anymore, making De-Fusion unable to summon Neos and Junk Gardna?
