@@kichki777 1st of all Herbert was the 6th overall pick so maybe check your facts before making yourself look stupid lol. 2nd of all both Herbert & Love were drafted around where they were projected to be drafted, so draft position doesn’t make either one of them more of a steal than the other, so that argument of yours is invalid. Yes he was a horrible personnel decision maker, some context I’d like to add in his defense was that while chase young was scene as a blue chip edge prospect the QBs after Burrow weren’t a sure thing. Most didn’t think Herbert was good and Tua was huge risk because of injuries, add that on top of the fact that at the time there was still hope for Dwayne Haskins entering only his 2nd year(RIP). But yes I would have preferred them to do more homework on Herbert and ultimately make that franchise altering pick.

Hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to say it's a mistake now but when the draft was happening in 2020, there were questions on whether Herbert could play in the NFL. He had the traits you were looking for but no guarantee it would translate. Chase looked like a sure fire hit and he was his rookie year. His injury ruined any chance of him ever having a HOF career. You can't blame Ron or anyone for that. It just is what it is. Live with it and move on.

But watch, you’ll move the goal posts so let me give you my already loaded up breakdown of the rest of what everyone loves to overlook. The failures in that game are so often put solely on Herbert’s shoulders, but somehow everyone ignores they spent the entire second half trying to establish a non existent run game, which by the way is literally what a vast majority NFL teams would do if up that many points in the second half. Non existent doesn’t really even do it justice just how bad this chargers team was at running the football in known running situations. That led to known passing situations, and consistent third and longs, and jags defensive excels in those situations. Second, the chargers defense didn’t get a single stop all second half. I don’t care what they did in the first half. That is unacceptable. They gave up like 400 yards in the second half and 6 straight scoring drives, historically bad. So lazy to put it all on Herbert when his team was failing in every other phase of the game that he has zero control over.

Washington only had that pic, because Detroit who did have the pick hired Stevie Wonder to make the pick in the draft, and completely ignored the best quarterback at that position at that time in the draft, who was Justin Herbert. So, Detroit was relegated to their decision-making and have had the patch things, they have done well with patching things, but they know that they have to come back and redress the issue at quarterback. The Lions have had to have their offense overplay their positions to cover for what Jared Goff couldn't do to the extent of exposing guards and tackles to injury, undo injury, because Jared Goff is not at least mobile, and he certainly not a dual threat. You cannot play football today at the position of quarterback and beat at least mobile. Not scrambling, which is avoiding being tackled, but mobility which extends the play, to say the least the difference between a dual threat who is an attacking quarterback which is what the RPO married to the spread is all about... Black quarterback rushes, that's the way the game is played today. The position of quarterback has come 360 around to what it used to be in college when the game was played then moving forward, the original quarterback in this game was a quarterback with an arm. The SEC teams went back to square... By then the adaptation spread throughout the college ranks and other squads begin to adapt the system who weren't SEC schools... And the arrogance of the NFL level, they weren't going to change, well this is where your talent is coming from in the arrogance in their mind of thinking they don't have to adapt, completely forgetting that that's where their talent is coming from, is arrogance. Well, it seems someone finally figured it out.

Keyshawn Johnson are you really sitting here talking about not needing to have that guy while we are witnessing yet another QB driven dynasty. While Mahomes and Brady are Lord of the Rings in a league that is becoming even more pass happy you need a guy who can make a difference at the QB position

This is not about Chase Young's knee injury. It was the wrong pick no matter what! WAS had a ton of needs; they were not 1 pass rusher away from the SB. I said it then too, no matter how good Young could have been, its still the wrong pick. Just plain stupid.

Keyshawn’s turning into a good interviewer, but his thinking about QBs is poor. It’s been a long time since a Trent Dilfer won a Super Bowl. With the rule changes, you must have a top ten QB, no matter how good your D. If Purdy has another year like last year there’s no debate. He’s a top ten, and maybe a top five, QB.

No Chase had bust written all over his game film at Ohio State. He plays the game with no passion and u can see does it for a paycheck. Not a fan of Keyshawn Johnson either all talk with no action. He should've been better than he was. Ask Warren Sapp what he thinks of Keyshawn Johnson. The game has passed Ron and that's ok.

Hey fun fact. Did you know that there are 11 players that play on one side of the ball. Did you also know another 11 play on the other side? Did you also know there are countless other players on the sideline as well as the entire coaching staff? It’s almost as if football is the ultimate team sport or something. Herbert’s lack of playoff success surely has nothing to do with the fact he’s had a bottom 5 defense every year, while the offense has been top 5. It also couldn’t be the fact that his coaches have all been god awful either.
