Too bad that he didn't put all of that energy into something productive like passing the bar or helping animals. Thanks for the video. Loved your summation of this cautionary tale.

I know lots of people with Juris Doctor degrees that never passed the bar, but have very high level executive employment in all kinds of industries. Less than half the applicants pass the bar in Calif. (for instance) on the first time, and if you haven't passed by the 3rd. time chances are you're not going to. He knew enough of the law but applied to very poor choices.

I don't think he actually cared for animals. He took the animals as a token from the former roommates. He surrendered two cats to a kill shelter and probably killed one (he was angry and kicked out and lucid that the one woman wouldn't give him the dog. Next day he said the cat died in his arms).

Background checks are KEY. I'm a landlord and rented to many people from various walks of life. The walks of life, while statistically may have some correlation to being decent isn't always true. There are good and bad in every walk of life. I had to learn the hard way to do thorough checks, though the hard way could have been much worse. A background check is like fishing with good bait to help "bring the catch (the undesirable qualities) to the surface." I've seen grand larceny, attempted murder, threatening witnesses, robbery/burglary, assaults, felony drug possession, pedophilia and more show up on background checks from seemingly decent people - and that is just the criminal not counting financial (civil law issues such as evictions and so on). Don't get swindled or worse, do the checks and follow up with employment history, address history and references. If there's a shaky story likely it is unstable for a reason - and so will your tenant likely be. If you want to do a favor in this venue, I'll lend you my lighter while you buy the gasoline and watch the combining effect because that will be you.

Great video and detailed as usual. But every kid who comes home to live because of hard times, is a potential squatter. My middle son decided to "come home" and live and expected to share rent and common wealth like buy food. He has since become resentful of us, decided to not pay rent and complain that he didn't get a good "upbringing" like his friends including exposure to video games, etc. He is now a squatter and really pushing his resentment about life, and blaming us anyway he can. He does have a job, a car, and a pot habit too. We want to evict him but I think that is a little harsh, and want him to go on his own feet. Should I fear that he becomes murderous too?

Sometimes they’re abused and mistreated by the legal system itself and by those whose job it is to protect and serve. Civil Asset Forfeiture allows them to take your money and property without due process, sometimes without even filing charges. Then you have to give up and let them keep what they stole from you or spend tens of thousands of dollars fighting them and proving that your money or property was rightfully yours and on the rare occasion that you win your case you don’t get back the money that you spent fighting the crooked legal system.

I had a tenant who fitted both the description of Jamison and his modus operandi. He was an actual tenant so I didn't share my house with him. Although otherwise he came and, eventually, left in ways just as described by TG here. I discovered he was well versed about the local laws regarding tenancy, down to very fine detail. He took full advantage of this forcing me to go through a very expensive, long winded, high risk and extremely stressful legal eviction process, despite that he was not even resident at the property through the entire eight month period it took to get legal possession. He did take the trouble however to abuse the property at will throughout the period (yes indeed, "the law is an ass"). My lesson, and warning to anyone, when meeting with a stranger over business issues is never to let your guard down, never listen to tales of woe, never underestimate how clever some people can actually be, never fail to thoroughly check backgrounds, never buy charm, never "identify" with the person and, most of all, trust your instincts

The disturbing part of this case after watching this Netflix series, his brother bailed him out only to be killed, if he didn't he'd be alive today for his wife and children. Clearly, this man had issues, one's that shouldn't have been ignored, I'm surprised that everyone knew he wasn't ok yet as long as he was terrifying others then the parent's and brother were alright with that! I am sure there was more to this story, we won't ever know. Parent's have a right to be disappointed in a child but ignoring that your child is dangerous and put that abuse onto other's is not the solution. If he was dangerous or mentally ill, he should have been treated early on in his life.

He brought 4 guns in her house even though she asked him not to. He left all his furniture and bed on her deck and refused to remove it ( apparently his stuff had bed bugs and keeping it outside in the cold would kill them🤦‍♀️) hes a conspiracy theories guy who spent day and night watching internet videos on my mother in laws computer... he refused to move out or help out with bills or house duties I thought he was going to kill her honestly and then just lile that he died sitting up in his chair watching his internet videos... sounds cruel but it was honestly the best case scenario

Plus he was 45 when he failed the bar, so what was he doing for a living up until then? There's still so much about him that is unknown. I know that he also tormented some male roommates and eventually murdered his brother, but I also suspect that he aimed to target women with his squatting schemes, and wonder whether that's merely because he saw them as easier targets to intimidate, or whether it added to his enjoyment to terrorise women especially. He doesn't seem to have had much of a romantic life to speak of.

I love human behavior. I’ve been a “people watcher” since I was young! (Not in a creepy way). I grew up in an insane way with parents who were awful role models. I suppose I was seeking out examples of how others, and eventually myself should be acting. Looking back, my childhood turned out to be the catalyst and probably an advantage for my career path in Psych. I love to answer The who’s, what’s and why’s.

@@jerzygirl That's so funny, I always say I've been an Avid "People Watcher" from ad far back as I can remember, also not in a creepy way, but VERY interested in what people were doing, but much MORE interested in WHY they were doing it! I doubt the stabbing earlier in his life would have had that much an impact later on in life either; it could have started a chain reaction of behavior that wouldn't have occurred if that event had never taken place, but that's obviously speculation. It's weird for me to say, but my situation right now mirrors this guy's past in a lot of ways, especially with the older sibling being successful while I am still finding my ways. Although I could never see myself actively taking advantage of someone like this guy did, I take things like my parents for granted and treat them coldly even when I probably shouldn't. Don't know why I felt like sharing, but this story just gave me an urge to comment on it. Two movie/book quotes I tend to live by are "Violence begets more violence" and "A Lannister always pays his debts." so I really can't see myself ever resorting to violence to settle a debt I owed.
@LDiamondz
@LDiamondz 2 года назад
There are many ways to be successful. Not all of them revolve around money. I have 3 siblings, out of the four of us, none of us are equally 'successful.' It doesn't matter, you can only be 'you'. Comparing yourself to a more successful sibling, as you say, is a waste of time. I hope you will keep trying to better yourself, it's all any of us can do. I hope you don't mind me saying this. I saw something in YOUR comment I related to, and had to reply. In the end, all that matters to parents is that their children are happy and healthy. Not the size of their wallets or bank accounts. I wish you well. ❤

Who on earth would stab someone (thereby committing murder) over a cheese sandwich-fueled argument? That reminds me of the video you did just two days ago, Dr. Grande. Shane Ragland didn't seem to have a significant motive for killing Trent Diguiro, either. Although compared to murder fueled by one's anger over someone eating a sandwich in the library, I now feel like Shane's motive seems slightly less frivolous (but only very slightly). Makes me wonder if there's a theme here, of college kids having considerably senseless motives in murder cases. Perhaps this is because the average college student is young and has, most likely, lived a rather sheltered life? Because of this, the small injustices done towards them by their peers might seem to be of momentous importance at the time, causing some small percentage of already impulsive people to behave in a vengeful way that will ultimately have a negative impact on the young lives of anyone involved.

Your home should be the one place you feel safe. But instead, i got over the threshold, i got tense. Every night i was scared as the room i had had no functioning lock (i don't think he knew this as from the outside one thinks you can close it, but it scared me so badly). I don't wish this upon anyone; to not feel safe in your own home anymore, not able to do anything. I moved out with the help of my then bf and got a sub tenant. But it was so much stress. I still wonder what would have happened if i had kicked him out. Whether he would have flipped.
