it's not ridiculous everyone knew the fact that victor had grown up a spurs fan and pop was the first American coach to meet him meant he was going to san antonio. Him meeting pop at 14 changed his life the NBA wanted him there.
Of course it was, Like Ewing, Robinson, Shaq, Penny/Webber, Timmy, Lebron, etc. Wembanyama wasn't going to the pistons nevermind how high their chances were lol.
