I appreciate you so much for this...I've been looking around like a crazy person at my Philly brethren. I think trading Reddick makes total sense.

The Devil is in the numbers fam, so don't form attachments when it comes to any particular players, they are all expendable in the the numbers game concerning what is good for the team.

The Mistake you guys keep making is bringing up Huff's name in Reddick's trade. The Trade wasn't Reddick for Huff. We got Huff in Free Agency. That stands alone by itself while Reddick being traded for a third round pick stands only. So In analyzing the Reddick's you can only analyze Reddick traded for a 3rd round pick. (it will only be a third round pick because the Jet Coach's philosophy is to rotate Defensive linemen often to keep them all fresh into the fourth quarter.) So Reddick was traded for a third round pick. The Eagles got a third round pick and we can't grade the trade until we find out what they do with that third round pick. Only when they draft a player with it or use it in a trade package to get a player, can we came come back and say Reddick was better or worse than whatever player results from that 3rd round pick. Until then, there really can be no analysis on if it was a good trade for the Eagles.

Really appreciate the breakdown. It's been amazing to see fans act like they know more about the cap than Howie Roseman. They simply swapped an older, more expensive Haason Reddick for a slightly more unknown 26 year old Bryce Huff. It's almost exactly the same situation as Reddick's original contract. Not saying Huff is gonna be as good as Haas. But Huff was ALWAYS the replacement, not the player playing opposite Reddick. Great breakdown, my guy. One qualm: Is the second-round pick that unlikely? I'm not saying it's necessarily likely, but if he plays the same-ish season as last, it'd be a second-rounder, albeit in 2026. (Sans a franchise QB, one would think.) He played, what, about 74% of the snaps last season? He could obv lose ~7-7.5% points in playing time, and as long as he gets to double digits, it's a second-rounder. Great point on the comp formula too. Fans have been insane ever since our Hargrave selection. As you mentioned, it'd mean us not spending big dollars in free agency. How did you find the $21M in cap space? It will hit the books this year, instead of over time? Thanks in advance. Great video. One of the best.

@@ryancampbell1847 We kinda did though, unless you understand the cap hits, void years and cash flows as well as Roseman.

My only issue is the rumor Reddick wanted $25 Mil Per, and did the Eagles even attempt to renegotiate with him? Remember last season when everyone believed TJ Edwards just wanted to go home, yet from his mouth, "the Eagles never even offered him a contract." There is way more to this Reddick trade than we know, plus, no one has addressed the collapse and why the team didn't even want to be in TB for that playoff game. Swift bounced after "allegedly" receving the same offer from the Eagles, did he?.., and if so, why did he go to Chicago? Btw, the Jet's owner isn't gonna let Douglas mortgage the future since him and the coach will be kicking rocks next off-season if the Jet's don't at least have a long playoff run. If that was the case, they would if paid Huff, Reddick is gonna be a 1yr rental for them.

This is a move that a year from now can be seen as either a huge disaster, or a very smart move. If Reddick goes to the Jets and has another 10-15 sack season, and Huff barely scratches 5 sacks, it's a disaster. Forget about money, it is simply a disaster for where the Eagles are right now and what they are trying to achieve. However, if Reddick goes to the Jets and kind of struggles, and shows that his decline towards the end of the season was the sign of a trend(and Huff plays great), then it is a really great trade. I tend to lean towards it being a bad decision. It could still have a great outcome, but there is a lot of what-if's and hoping for it to turn out great. I think it is much more realistic that Reddick's "decline" towards the end of the year was the result of him being forced to drop into coverage to make up for the linebackers/Patricia's decisions. The entire defense looked confused when Patricia came in, and Reddick was put in a bad position. Hasson Reddick is a great player/bordering on elite. When you have a team that is trying to win a Superbowl, you just don't let players like that go. I really respect the breakdown of the deal - I simply disagree with the conclusion you draw. We shall see. Hopefully I am wrong.
@TedTeddy-ej3dp
@TedTeddy-ej3dp 5 месяцев назад
How can you disagree with the conclusion after he showed you literally all the evidence possible. Huff has a great work ethic and he has strong character. He will have over 10 sacks this year. People don't just go from a top 5 pass rusher to a backup caliber player in one season.... Use some logic here.
@jayg339
@jayg339 5 месяцев назад
@@TedTeddy-ej3dp You are saying "he will have over 10 sacks this year." He has literally never had over 10 sacks once in a season in his career(he had 10 last year). Over the last five years, there's typically been 14-15 players that have gotten over 10 sacks. Getting that many sacks is a hard thing to do. Now Reddick is a player who had 4 straight years of 11-16 sack seasons. I am very confident he will have another one next year. Now could I be wrong? Sure. But I am much more confident that a guy who has done it 4 years in a row will do it again than a guy who barely did it last year for the first time can show he will repeat and take it to the next level. The Eagles are betting that Huff is going to have an ascending year next year and that Reddick is going to be descending and bad. Those are some long odds. And it's going to look really stupid if Huff struggles in a higher load role and has 5 sacks and Reddick dominates with the Jets getting 10-15 sacks all over a third round pick and maybe a restructured contract(which hasnt happened yet in New York so who knows if that is something Reddick is even demanding/threatening to sit over). Edit: To be honest, I could keep going and get more in depth into things to better illustrate what I am saying, but I am not in the mood to write a thesis on why the Eagle's trading Haason Reddick was a mistake.
@TedTeddy-ej3dp
@TedTeddy-ej3dp 5 месяцев назад
@@jayg339 It's almost like you didn't watch the video. Huff played 400 less snaps than Reddick did last year and had 10 sacks. If he played 800 snaps last year, he most likely would've had around 18 sacks. Anyway time will tell. And I do know I'm absolutely right about this. Just give it 5 months and you're gonna be pretty happy. cheers
