When Joel saved Ellie from the big infected bloater thing, his breathing was so shaky. He almost lost Ellie and he panicked so badly. The way he stabbed the infected over and over and then taking shaky breaths. I find that detail so nice.
He didn't wanna watch her die like Sarah, which is totally understandable. I knew that immediately after hearing him breathing shakily as if he was having a really bad anxiety attack, and seeing him stabbing it's lifeless body excessively.
Sean keeps asking if the roads would actually collapse like that and the answer is yes, yes they would. Solid liquefaction will take place eventually, the concrete will not be able to handle constant stress and will collapse especially over time when rain water penetrates the cracks in the concrete. The geography student in me had to put that out there.
Shit I forgot that water when frozen expands until this comment. And like you said kasia the constant pressure on the weakened concrete would break it. Also there is a chance the tree roots would burrow into the cracks in the roads further weakening the road.
That was such a cool transition at 1:02:00 going from thinking you are okay just upgrading your weapons than you suddenly get attacked that makes you really feel like no where is safe
honestly that scene frustrated me in my game because i heard the footsteps stomping (and was already on guard because of the sound trap) but ellie is apparently half deaf ig. technically speaking that makes sense given the noise of gunshots around her all the time but still lol
Same with the horse with ellie and Dina. You have to jump over so many of the barbed wire fences that you start to do it without even thinking about it, and then suddenly BOOM! They did really well with not letting the player get TOO comfortable in this one.
Wish I picked a different person to watch the last of us now, everyone’s finished it and I skip over a lot of the running around wend supply gathering anyways, it’s fucking boring
40:20 taken out of context is actually great life advice, “cuz we’re gonna get to the end of the game eventually, there’s no point in rushing it. might as well take our time and look around and appreciate everything.”
Sean in every building: Cards?! Sean during a fight: Gotta be a card somewhere Sean walking into laundry mat: Anyone wash their cards? Sean thinking back on this game in 10 years: I wonder if I missed any cards....?
I know this wasn't Joel's motivation for taking Ellie home, but the fact that the Fireflies didn't even let her wake up and tell her what's happening really makes me think Joel did something good. Like, they found Ellie unconscious, ran their tests without her consent and then proceeded to prep her for surgery when they hadn't even asked her if she wanted this (or at least convinced her this was for the best even though we know she would've done it). Like, it probably would've had Joel calm down as well, let them do the operation, because it's what Eliie wanted. That fact just pisses me off so much because her last memory ever would've been nearly drowning and Joel screaming her name.
Dude, you're actually spot on! That's the reason why I hate the fireflies so much because they claim to be so about helping humanity, while simultaneously committing such horrendous acts against it.
I whole heartedly believe that had they done this, and Marlene says “it’s what she wants” rather than “would’ve wanted” would make all the difference in the ending
@@earthchild236I mean, everybody in that world is. They’ve all killed people, stolen, manipulated etc. The fireflies are no different, there’s no such thing as a squeaky clean faction, everyone is doing what needs to be done. The main thing is, they probably would have failed anyway and Ellie would just be dead
@Alpha Elfe, but when Dina thought Ellie would get infected by breathing the spores, Ellie reassured her by saying “I’m not coughing.” Jesse was also not coughing, so i doubt it.
“We’re going to reach the end of the game eventually, so we might as well take our time and enjoy the atmosphere.” This is exactly why I always got to Jack’s playthroughs. Lots of players rush through areas to get the story moving, but Jack actually explores and reads all the notes to get more of the lore of the game. I also really like that he‘s thoughtful of the technical side of it, like the lighting, music and sound design, and level design. He’s one of those rare gaming youtubers who actually has a great attention to detail of the games he’s playing.
He has this channel because he genuinely loves games and sound design while others have gaming channels for money or fame. It’s why I love watching Sean ❤️
Admittedly I started watching this game being played with another youtuber (not naming them as that's not the point of this comment) and decided to watch Jack's play through instead because they kept skipping notes and even said they want to get the story moving and would explore the game more on their own time. I knew this youtuber did this alot with games but I had hoped they would be different with the last of us 2 as it's the most anticipated game in a while. So here I am back with Jack I learned my lesson. He actually cares about the games he plays and will go through every inch of it so no one misses out.
@@KidoKoin Dina said something along the lines of “how many have you ever killed on patrol?” There was no patrol in the first game so this is what she was referring to.
It’s like him and the dogs😂 “aww I don’t wanna kill the puppy” Jack literally 20 minutes later: *laughs at dog walking into tripmine following his scent*
Remember in the start, Dina asked Ellie what was the most infected she had killed during a patrol and she said with Joel probably a dozen. I think she was talking about the patrol in the start of the video. So cool
God, the way this game uses these flashbacks to just flesh out her teenage life is great. How she had this period during her growing independence where she started getting annoyed at how protective Joel was as a dad and feels distant from him because of having Cat as a girlfriend and she’s actually scared of coming out to Joel whilst also being unable to escape the feeling that he is hiding something about the Fireflies, so this awkward tension between the two means she prefers Tommy’s company as like the casual, cool uncle. And then in this flashback, these couple of infected teens who ran away mirror her story, not just in that they were bitten and one of them outlived the other, but also that they were of course aware of how bad the world was outside of Jackson, just like Ellie is and after a certain point they just can’t take it anymore and have to do something about it, which is why Ellie chooses that time to confront Joel about it all, because she can’t stand not knowing anymore after pushing all those thoughts out of mind for 2 years and just trying to be happy in Jackson. And it’s not just black and white on Joel’s side either, while he sees this going on with her and growing more distant, he makes an effort to be a little cooler, give her his blessing to go out on patrol whilst still asking her to be careful and it does work, you see how awkward they are around each other at the start of this flashback, but you see the barriers start to break down as you play through the flashback right up until the end, it really shows you what he is and isn’t prepared to do as a father. Something I absolutely love about this game is to just have this gameplay that has you doing this really “normal”, maybe I should say straightforward things just like the first game, you have these simple objectives and things you’re doing, but they convey so much through and throughout all that, it gives these games this feeling of realism, understatement and relatability that not even the incredibly realistic art and graphics can get across. It’s so natural, there’s no other games like these, they just do not get enough credit for the way they tell their story, not just the story itself.
@@MustacheMan-ri8ev Well thanks for letting me know, I don’t know how I could have survived knowing you didn’t actually read my random ass comment. Who are you again?
I don’t remember if it happened in the first game, but it’s very similar to when Joel beat the life outa that guard to protect Ellie in like the first or second episode of the show
@@Xostensialnot that exact sequence is in the first game, also I think Joel had never seen what a bloater has done to people it catches in the game, but has encountered one before. (Not trying to seem like a know-it-all or anything, I’m just saying)
@I don’t care Productions Sean does miss a lot of stuff when he is looking at the camera, too bad he recorded all of the beforehand and now its too late
"Y'Know how you go into a hotel and there are just bullets on the table? America's crazy, man" Uh, yeah? What else are we supposed to eat during midnight snacking urges?
I work at a hotel. I’ve seen stranger things than that lol. You find out a lot of strange things about people when you clean the places they stay/sleep. I’ve seen some strange things lol
"this is an absolutely phenomenal video game" I love that every time he really enjoys the gameplay and story, he gives it credit. he doesn't take the effort put into the game for granted, he thinks of all the passion and dedication that made it so fun to play
Seán: "I'm so cautious" Also Seán: *sprints as fast as possible through the woods where someone could spot him* Ah yes So cautious So silent So stealthy
I feel like if he wouldve grabbed the first guy after getting him off of Ellie, that he would've figured out why they were attacking him yelling, "We aren't going back"
So 5 types of infected and 4 stages now. Stage 1: Runners, crazy jittery people just recently infected that rush and swarm you. Stage 2: Stalkers, growing some spores but not enough to blind them, much more tactful ain stealth, trying to surprise you. Stage 3: Clicker, fully blind, using clicks to try and echo-locate you, extremely dangerous teeth. Stage4 Type 1: Bloater, Huge and covered in spores, smashes through anything to charge at you and tosses acidic spores from a distance. Stage 4 Type 2: Shambler, also large and covered in spores, but is a lumbering oaf that follows sounds like a Clicker, but explode much more acidic spores when it's close to its prey. The two types of stage 4 are under the assumption that a Clicker can transform into one of the other given enough time, as it doesn't make much sense to me that a Bloater would become a Shambler or vise versa, considering their very different attacking styles.
Shambles might be the stage that happens before becoming bloaters since they both seem to have that acidic attack, and might have eventually formed its thick armor later on, though it's just a guess since the clicker and bloater stage has a very long timespan between them
Yeah cause Sean isn't recording outro for his videos he is just constantly playing the game for hours on Twitter he already said that he has finished the game and there are going to be 13 parts in total and he only uploaded 6 so let's wait for it
@@ethanwilson617 At the building where Ellie is attacked while using a work bench, there's a room that's initially closed. Those guys that attack Ellie were hiding in that room and you could find the training manual there after dealing with them and a letter from one of the people you just killed.
I feel like the conversation that Ellie has with Dina and she goes "What?" "Nothing" "Good" @ 38:09 was VERY similar to the end of the conversation she had with Joel @ 35:55 and his "Good". Talk about character development.
Take a shot every time Sean: saysI feel like I’m playing [random different game] Take a shot Everytime Sean: asks for a space game Take a shot Everytime Sean: compliments lighting/reflections Take a shot Everytime Sean: mentions atmosphere Take a shot Everytime Sean: tries to figure out if he’s been to the place in the game in real life
@@Thedumestofasses I actually took 21 shots in 10 minutes because of very bad luck in a drinking game during my high school graduation, and didn't die. I just got really wasted
Shall I repeat the video game boss fight mantra This is some lovely music This is an awfully convenient pile of ammo and health Where did the music go? Oh there it is! That's an awful lot of bass
1:33:17 "Dude, looks like a bunch of gamer setups in here" *picks up shotgun ammo* Ah yes, I too keep a shotgun beside me whenever I play first person shooters. I just get so immersed!
around 38:00 when dina obviously has something to say, but instead she says “nothing” and ellie says good. it’s reflecting the hotel scene, when ellie knows something’s up with joel but doesn’t say anything and he says “good”. edit: then both ellie and joel asked for help with the door
Bryana.butterfly cause they had there 30 year anniversary on 2013 and the note said when they got married which was 30 years back from 2013 which is 1983
@River J I had the same thought of entering "13" for 2013, then i realized, who dafuq updates the passwords to their safe with their current anniversary every year? xD
Everyone always wondered what the issue was with Ellie and Joel in this flashback. I believe it's just that typical father daughter uncle stuff. Ellie was starting to have more fun with Tommy, while Joel was still being protective etc. Of course this was also when Ellie was starting to question what happened with the fireflies.
I really wanna see someone do kind of like a pacifist run of this game, where you only kill if 100% absolutely necessary, and by that I mean when the game forces you
Someone else pointed it out in the comments, and for some reason I can’t find it again... But basically, I love how you can hear the concern in Joel’s voice.. It shakes so much when he thought he was gonna lose Ellie, and then the fact that Joel had to hit it a few more times like “how dare you hurt my little girl you POS” Made my heart melt anyways...
Highlights of the Jacksepticeye The Last of Us Part II playthrough: 1. Look at that view! 2. Cards! 3. I miss Ireland. 4. Is this the convention center? 5. Look at that light and reflection! 6. CARDS! YES! NICE!
Most people when they get a mission finish it in 30 minutes but I love how jacks takes an two hours because he focuses on things in the game most people wouldn’t
Just noticed the first mention of 'Lily' by the Scars in this episode. "Did you hear what Lily did?" "Shameful" or something along those lines. Thought that was a cool detail that wouldn't be noticed until the second play through since you don't know that character at this point in the story 😯
There's a lot of stuff like that while playing as Ellie, but it's easy to miss it as you don't pay full attention to every conversation, letter or situation, because you don't know some characters or plot that's happening at the same time. Like Owen's "betrayal" or the fact that you don't see WLF members until you get deep into the city probably because Isaac's attack on the Seraphites is about to happen. Which is different from Abby's perspective, where the stuff she is doing keeps her unaware of everything that the Jackson people is doing to the WLF, at least until day 3 where she teams up with Manny.
yeah i noticed that too. but also the sounds sean heard while in the sewer that were freaking him out. "it sounded like a roar" its apparently the rat king as its around the time that abby should be in the lower level of the hospital
Also when you're getting to the hospital as ellie there is a dog when you kill him in "sniper mode" they say that bear was killed. Bear is the dog you pet and play with when you start playing abby
1:02:12 i was just thinking: it would be such a cool concept to have something come out and attack you when you think your safe doing a constant action in the game, and nonetheless it literally happened. 👏 that for me gives naughty dog a round of applause
Ugh I hate the stalkers, it makes my anxiety go through the roof and I can’t handle it!!! Ugh!!! Oh well I’ll get through it by staring at the comments during this part...
*walks into a close quarters building that has an alarm on the entrance* Jack: "I feel like there's gonna be people here" *switches out shotgun for a bow*
Holy shit. I did not know that the Scars were talking about Lev so early in the game... Then I realized this was day two for Ellie meaning Yara and Lev have already left the Scars. Wow.
For those who don't remember Stalkers were actually in the previous game. I believe they came after runners and before clickers in the Cordyceps infection evolution.
9:01 Seán it was in the diary - she doesn’t know how he’ll react if he knows she has a girlfriend and she’s probably afraid to say anything wrong and feels uncomfortable
@@sawyer3715 I agree. Pewds just jumped on the "game bad" bandwagon and didn't even give it a chance. Jack is wayyy better at playing the game in general AND he gives a balanced view of the game- what he likes and what he dislikes without dissing the game, and giving reasons for what he says. That's why I respect Jack so much.
spacenewt 122 oh 100%, hes my favourite gamer on RU-vid because his commentary is funny, he doesn’t speak over dialogue, he’s really good at the game and also very appreciative of game design. Top tier 💯
I started watching this game on Pewd's channel, but he was just constantly shitting on the game, making jokes during important so you lost the emotional attachment, forgetting key details, and playing it just to play it. Sean is actually invested in it and is giving the game a chance and I love it
