I watched this during my break at work (in a basement room without windows) and it gave me a real sense of being out in nature enjoying the lake and the mountains. Glad you had a stress free day although it's always annoying when food turns out to be not that great!

One of my favorite areas. The Boulder and the White Cloud mountains are stellar too. That's just east of the Sawtooths.

I've never tried a stand-up paddleboard and I'm surprised by how stable yours seems. Will have to check one out. I've had a 10' kayak a few years. I like the option to change body position, cuz my old hips get sore sitting constantly!

Ah, yes. The bugs. Been there in Stanley, Idaho, and rafted the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Great fun and beautiful surroundings. The Indians called it 'The River of No Return.' Nice adventure. Be well, stay safe. 🥾

"The river of no return" was coined by early fur traders and explorers because once you float down the river, because of the treacherous currents and terrain, there is no coming back up the river. The Nez Perce Indian name for the river actually translates to something like, "river of the chinook salmon". In the summer, I live literally on the banks of the Salmon River in Stanley Idaho, so have acquired a lot of the history over the years.

Fun video-thanks! I just left that area and found the camping and hiking spots to be amazing. Definitely will return to explore more even though it is a bit of a trek to get there.

Grew up going to Stanley Lake nearly every summer as a kid and teen. It looks like it’s changed some. The road going into it from the highway is paved now? I also understand that the sandbar boat launch area near the Stanley Creek Inlet completely disappeared after the sawtooth earthquake a few years back. And yeah I agree Stanley lake has some of the coldest water. My brother and I swam across the entire lake when I was young.

You are not allowed to bring a “potato” into Idaho. I guess They don’t want a chance of disease or any mixing of the Idaho potato genetics . Such a beautiful mountain in the background.! You look like you are having fun ! They don’t have water snakes that far north do they? Water is good for the soul and body . Bet u slept well THAT night ! Happy to see the PFD and glad it was only one beer 😅. That mosquito blood was very likely your blood .

This was great! My niece lives in Meridian and we’ve driven through the Sawtooth Mountains. They cut their Christmas trees up there. I would love to make it there on my travels. I have a question. I’ve asked about your camera and the hidden stick but is this your phone and is it waterproof? I would love to know how you take your videos and edit them. Thanks again for a great video. I don’t think you said what lake that was, but it looked like Stanley Lake by Mt McGown? I paddled there in June. Redfish Lake is so much nicer, there’s a totally different feel (water is crystal clear, backdrop of mtns is closer). What do you use for your underwater shots? Is that just GoPro, or a special attachment? ☮️

It was Stanley Lake! I backpacked around Red Fish Lake when I was there in 2022 and I wanted to see a new area this time, but I'll have to remember that!
